I was so scared by her character in Gone Girl in the theaters that I remember going home straight to RUclips to watch an interview of Rosamund being herself just so I could sleep better lol I knew she'd be nominated after that role. Great actress.
parsoumash haha i also watched youtube after seeing her in gone girl and clicked on this interview because i wanted her insight into amy dunne. She played it so well i was unsettled. Man what a great actress!
I remembered her as Jane in Pride and Prejudice, and sorta always see her as this perfect British lady who is graceful and beautiful. Then I see her in GONE GIRL...her range is truely astounding
You can say that about Carey Mulligan, she was Kitty Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, and then you see Promising Young Woman, two completely different personalities and roles. It's nice that Carey and Pike does roles that really step out of their comfort zone, i always thought that after Pride and Prejudice, they kept getting type cast in the same role over again eventhough they're good in it. With Gone Girl for Pike and Promising Young Woman for Carey, it was such a fresh air for both of them
She is painfully underrated. Firstly, she deserved to win that Oscar and even since, give her every other award. She’s like the female Joaquin Phoenix ... she just really immersed herself in the role with such passion and it really shows
Rosamund Pike is so underrated. She should have won an Oscar with her performance on Gone Girl because she was phenomenal. Reality, no one could execute that performance better than her.
she really was ROBBED that year. i mean i love juliane moore and yes she was overdue but the best performance by a female actor that year was rosemunds. to me she stands alongside amy adams being snubbed for arrival, jake gylenhaal for nightcrawler and timothee chalamet for cmbyn: THE BIGGEST SNUBS AT THE OSCARS THESE LAST YEARS
100% agree, she put in a performance for the ages playing Amy Dunne. She lost because she was a newby, and sadly campaigning plays a big part in who wins. Now that I think of it, Gone Girl in general got massively snubbed that year, the only nomination it got was for Pike, but snubbed for Adapted Screenplay, Best Picture and Director, all of which it deserved at least a nomination.
Pike "I played a psycho am I a psycho?" Sam "Nah." Pike "I mean I sliced up a pig carcass, stabbed a Dora Explora doll and disected actual humans while hungover but that was just preparation for the role" Sam "Uh..........."
She's come such a long way since her big break as a Bond girl. So articulate and versatile as an actress which I'm sure is down to her strong work ethic
Spaniards are the masters of swearing. We have a great range, which we use left, right and centre in many contexts without anyone beating an eyelid. It is so accepted and normalised. We also have a real knack for it. It has become some sort of an art with reality creative combinations 🤣🤣🤣 they dont call it the language of passion for nothing
This woman is truly hilarious. Someone needs to cast her in a comedy. Never realized she was so cooky. Also, in the immortal words of Laurence Olivier....... "Why don't you just ACT" dahlink? hee hee hee
When we are teenagers, we often have a crush on an actor/actress. Rosamund Pike is the only actress that I still have a crush as an adult. Not only in a shallow way; she seems very intelligent, lovely and witty. Go and listen to her Pride and Prejudice audiobook and you'll know what I mean.
You know there are videos that show from clinical psychologists that she wasn't sociopath. but was actually a psychopath they explain the differences between both clinical terms and that she fit exactly with psychopath.
No it’s not. It’s just missing a comma. Psychologists were saying that Amy Dunne was a psychopath. They’re similar to sociopaths but psychologists know the difference. Amy was diagnosed as a psychopath, but nobody wants to say that. psychopathy is a formal diagnosis for a number of people who we couldn’t or wouldn’t call a psychopath but are very much representative of the mental disorder like investment bankers. I don’t know if I would call Amy Dunne one but she definitely seems to fit.
Amy Dunne (her character in Gone Girl) struck me more as a Psychopath rather than a Sociopath The primary difference is Psychopaths are born while Sociopaths are made through years of childhood trauma, abuse, and/or neglect. Sociopaths also have emotional triggers linked to their traumatic childhood that can send them into a rage. Amy Dunne didn't really have a traumatic childhood nor do we ever see her snap and go into a violent rage.
@@itgoeswithoutsayingM Nope. It's the reverse. Unless you're talking about a high functioning sociopath. Then they are cunning and calculated (like a psychopath)
@@savagenature1 You can argue that Amy did have a traumatic childhood. Her parents were a piece of work who seemed to have molded her into a type-A overachiever.
I wasn't familiar with Rosamund Pike until Pride and Prejudice - then I was hooked. I liked her in everything since. I don't recall her in Doom - though it was overall a forgettable movie. I understand the impulse to do her research on real bodies. When I was a film student at 19, I needed a severed hand for a scene. Instead of trying to make one, I just went to the university med school and asked if I could use a real human hand - surprisingly they agreed. I didn't go through with it due to a change in plans - but it was a creepy idea.
Tbh i think Kiera asking if Rosamund was given a load of prosthetics is a kind question rather than a rude one. It's her saying "wow they must have had to change your face a lot because you look much younger than the character you're playing".
Wow. Cutting into George. That's fucking amazing. There's certain things in your life that you half want to do that know you'll never do that you're perfectly fine with. Studying a cadaver is something you see happen in a lot of films. It's so close in media yet so far away from reality. And she brought it directly into her reality.
I am a huge fan of Rosamund and have been since her very first film. I thought she was awesome then and still is. And she is beautiful and super attractive to boot. (this is from a 76 y/o Australian).
A good person is not a harmless person, a good person is a very dangerous individual who has that under control. That is all she is doing, acting with precision. Being the best at her craft

Sociopaths are "fascinating" the same way someone is fascinating because he can stick needles into his body without fear because he feels no pain: Sociopaths have no empathy, so they are ruthless when it comes going after their interests. Empathy - like pain - is something that normal, healthy humans hinder to just be ruthless and walk over other people. She is real talent unlike those overrated actresses in Hollywood.
She's good. Female Joaquin Phoenix, not even close.
John Hooper now I KNOW you’re lying with that comment. Gtfo
@John Hooper fuck off
She's better than joaquin Phoenix
This is kind of a perfect conversation about being an actor. It’s not pretentious, yet you see how rigorously Rosamund prepares for her roles.
What a lovely person she is. And her American accent is flawless.
She's an English muffin
I love how her American accent for Gone Girl is like a posh accent, which suits the character very well
Wait, she's not American?

We've all been there with Dora the Explorer - my kids drove me nuts.
That was funny af lol
This was such a good interview! She has such a passion for her work it's genuinely inspiring
She is such a talented actress, elegant, beautiful and she has one of the most soothing voices I've ever heard. So underrated.

she's one of the best actresses of her generation. her portrayal of amy is impecable
What a beautiful being she is! She literally shines! Gracias desde Colombia
