I rarely care about actors and celebrities, but she's one. ...Also, if you haven't seen that video, watch it. It rearranged my brain.
Love her portrayal of Moiraine in the WoT series so far (even though only 3 episodes are out currently). I know some book readers have been quite vocally salty with this adaptation (some with valid concerns and others with not so valid ones) but I've personally found the series quite enjoyable and the episodes have decently progressed in quality so I'm looking forward to what this particular turning of the Wheel has in store for us fans.
I guess I’m one of the “salty” book fans. Not about any of the actors per say, it’s the writing. The way portrayed the people of the two rivers totally sucked. The attitude of those people informed the whole series and they portrayed them as drunken scum bags. And of course one of the first lines in tv series that the dragon reborn could a man or a woman is BS. Sorry for gender equality people has to be a man. That’s foundational to how the true source works in the books.
I'm not salty, though I did side-eye a couple of things. No, it's not 100% identical, but I think it's really faithful-to-the-spirit of the books, if that makes sense? We get a lot of different personalities displayed in the background characters, just as in the books, some good some not, and it just feels _real_. I'm so excited for this. :D
I just watched the first 3 eps last night - I can completely understand some of the concerns - I don't think Two Rivers was portrayed as a place of drunken scum - yeah there was a bot more realistic than the usual fantasy which is just trite cookie cutter fanasty - I like that Mat gets to have a real personality affected by his parents & siblings - and in the books there is talk of some families whose attitudes & behaviours are less than ideal - so it's not as though the adapters are talking liberties with the source material
