  • A couple brave brother-in-laws were not about to give up the tradition of catching a bunch of fish for a big family fish fry on Christmas Eve. The ice was just good enough for one last day of fishing before the warm weather finished it, and boy did we tear 'em up! We are hoping it gets cold SOON!

Excellent work and I really enjoyed the under ice action shots of how the fish were responding to your bait presentation!

Awesome video I am also excited to try the hover rig on ice as well as the Berkley power switch I think they are called. A lot of the popular finesse vertical presentations that are catching on in the bass tournament world should be great for ice fishing bass eyes and pike

    Loved it! Two quick questions:
    1) For pike - can the whole pin bone (including the Y part) be removed with needle nose pliers, or is it quicker and more effective filleting out the pin bones? I ask the question because pulling pin bones would save a lot of meat if the technique worked.
    2) Can you recommend a reliable mid-price range electric trolling motor? I have an old school 10 foot 100 pound aluminum jon boat and just want to troll small inland lakes. If the battery is rechargeable by 120 outlet that would be ideal unless a standard 12V recharger and motor is less expensive and equally reliable. Thanks for any advice!

Thanks man! I have only heard of pike Y bones being removed with tweezers after the fish is cooked. I do sometimes remove trout pin bones with tweezers but maybe I should try the pike Y bones some time!

And as far as trolling motors, Minn Kota has a bunch of options for smaller boats that run on 12v power.

Nice outing! What rod do you recommend for the predators?

Thanks! Any fiberglass rod between 32” and 36” should work. A slow to moderate action is best.

We let all the big fish we catch go. Just keep the smaller fish.
