- A video hoping to explain the differences between Trenchcoat and Greatcoats as simply as possible.
In general
A Trenchcoat is a full length coat made from a waterproof material to keep the wearer dry.
A Greatcoat is a full length coat made from thick wool to keep the wearer warm in cold conditions. - Развлечения
Seeing all these kids saying they can't wear trench coats at school anymore.. and all i can think is how many kids don't need to wear uniform
Actually Phuck but they look cool, though
I still wear mine
I wear a dark grey trench coat and a fledora that I wear to school along with a black tie and white button up tucked into black trousers and black dress shoes. Everyone loves me
incognito mode icon guy but in real life
@@oldaccount3215 nope. I just dont dress like a peice of sgit
Inspector gaget
Good info. I've never heard the term "great coat". Learned something new.
Thanks, it's a bit old fashioned really, a bit like dusters and other coats. Most people now would probably just say a big coat or something.
+Weaponsandstuff93 I actually call trench coats a Constantine coat because that's his iconic outfit as John Constantine
Me too thanks
youd probably know em because they were given to german soldiers near the end of WW2
Watching this the day of getting my East German Greatcoat, saw it in the thumbnail and recognised it instantly!
but a leather trenchcoat is heavier than a wool greatcoat.
Weaponsandstuff93 real leather
In Austria we call leather Trenchcoats "Gestapomantel"
Well done. Here in the United States, the great coats are civil war era for reenacting purposes both Confederate and Federal. The sky blue color great coat with a liner in the sleeves and down to the waist is sky blue. The Confederate infantry men great coat is generally made early on in gray. when I say early on, that was before gray dyes wore out and butternut walnut etc were used then later in the war to die wool so that it came out to be what is referred to as a brownish color, typically pronounced as butternut uniforms. There are no side pockets either, rather it is simply a very warm overcoat with no pockets anywhere to be found. If you wished rain protection you would then have a black tarred poncho to pull over your head.
Those are Civil War greatcoats - a SPECIFIC type of greatcoat. In the US, doesn't specifically refer to them. I've got an oiled cotton duster and I'm working on a Model 1852 Infantry Officer's greatcoat.
sadly because of the columbine shooting my favourite style of trench coat gets weird looks from people if worn in public :(
Probably best not to wear a black cap with it as well.
Weaponsandstuff93 or shades
Weaponsandstuff93 lmao I do wit it.
Same but I just deal with it
@@Weaponsandstuff93yeah, forget about the combat suspenders aswell.
I have an NVA Trenchcoat (cold war Trenchcoat I think) it’s pretty good only thing I don’t like is how easy the straps on the arms go off I have both improvise fixed but they sadly are still not completely repaired
I love the Filson trench coat, It’s16oz oil canvas and it has a 24oz mackinaw wool liner.
One coat to rule them all…..
Very useful video! Thanks!
ive had the czech coat for a long time, i love them
Are these only found on Amazon? Or do people sell these in stores?
What do you call a short trench coat? Like one that stops below the waist?
Anyone know of a more modern greatcoat that looks similar to the ones the U.S used in WWII?
You can find a lot of reproductions online
East German greatcoat looks pretty similar to a Wehrmacht greatcoat
It's a different colour.
how do you clean the great coat? i have a soviet great coat from the cold war MVD police and i have no idea how to clean it without ruining it. buttons and shoulder board ranks included
I'd imagine a dry cleaner is about the only option if you don't want to destroy your hands, by hand washing.
the NVA sometimes used old Wehrmacht stock
Apologies but what do you mean by weather isle?
I think it autocorrected "weatherize".
What are the differences between US and German WWII trenchcoats?
Is there a specific name for the two pronged look the two coats have at the collar area? Basically the flap over another flap?
I don't know of you're talking about the lapels or the gun flap but the trenchie has the gun flap and the great coat doesn't, the lapels on both can fold over each other to prevent rain getting onto your inner clothing, again, don't know which you were talking about so there's both.
Double breasted I believe.
Thank you 💕
Do the collar on the trench coat close up to keep the heat in ?
If they do not close why are they open like that ??
They do it’s open for fashion but you can choose to close it if you want.
People say they can't wear thir trenchcoats to school, i wear mine all the time. feel bad for people who go to stricter schools.
hard to get it on
organolly trench coats if the back belt was undone it became a blanket
what's the army green one called were can i find it
+Pastorium I think, that the green one is from Czechoslovakia, because on the buttons isna symbol of Czechoslovakian army ( crossed swords)..... Sorry for my english, Iam from Czech republic :D
+Pastorium Czechoslovakian trenchcoat.
+FilipMlejnek Yeah Czechoslovakian from the Warsaw Pact.
+Weaponsandstuff93 Yeah thanks :D I"am a little bit smarter from now :D
Is a greatcoats and overcoats the same thing?
Potentially overcoat always seems to be a fitall term for any sort of large coat.
NICE
Good presentation, thanks.
Thumbs up 729 and comment 82 for me.
Cheers
Charlie
Peace.
Well can't wear mine to school anymore...
Columbine?
Same
Why?
Can you weather isle a great coat
No
Isn't it funny, that wearing trenchcoats in the U.S. will give you weird looks, but owning a gun is completely normal?
There's not a bit in the constitution that says, the right to wear a coat shall not be infringed.
Weaponsandstuff93 I know, but it's still weird.
Why not have both in public?
because unlike the rest of the world, we dont like criminals breaking into our houses
@@_Nikolas_ yes both good ideas, but a locked door can always be broken, an alarm can only make a loud noise, or electicity can be cut, GAtes can be climbed over though granted that would limit what the robber could take, but if you really dont want to get robbed, if your in the house at least, is to have something that will scare them off, criminals don't like getting shot
Trench coats, were used in trenches
Great Coats, are Great
Unless the leather coats are specifically insulated, they don't keep you warm during legit winter weather. Fall weather, yes. Snowy blizzard, no.
If it does have a wool lining then maybe.
@@zombis89fisto yea
In short
Greatcoats are long and big
Trench coats are short
I just want to see people fight in trench coats and see if its cool or not
The Matrix is just people in trenchcoat fighting so hope it helps
Black greatcoat
Red tie
Dapper hat
People won't mess with you
Czechoslovakia Československo
🤣
The right to keep and bear trench coats shall not be infringed
A Trenchcoat is actually considered as a topcoat
nazis wore leather GREATCOATS!
Nope the SS and Gestapo coat was a Leather Trenchcoat, the Wehrmacht overcoats were greatcoats.
Yes they did.
Eddie Caplan
he designed the SS uniform only
The Waffen SS and the Heer had feldgrau wool overcoats.
ive had the czech coat for a long time, i love them
Fancy seeing you here
Thanks
