- Hugh Jackman, Prisoners - Hugh Jackman plays a desperate father racing against the clock in Denis Villeneuve's "Prisoners." He tells Tribute.ca that the role hit home in his personal life as a father, saying the moment he would get off set he would go home and hug his children.
Prisoners movie synopsis:
How far would you go to protect your child? Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street.
Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano), but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect's release. Knowing his child's life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, he may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?

His acting skills in that movie were so, so goood, so authentical and raw. He should have won an oscar!
One of those rare films that doesn't seem like it has replayability, but it does. I've seen it three times now and it gets better and better. Absolutely fantastic film.

Of course you can rewatch it, although it’s not one you’d watch frequently given how dark and depressing it is.

I thought Hugh was absolutely unbelievable in this film. There's a scene where he brings out a hammer, and he is so believable it genuinely looks like the other actors are scared for their lives, absolutely incredible performance.
Denis apparently wanted more so they kept shooting more takes with Hugh getting angrier and angrier, and he of course smashed the sink unscripted which frightened the other actors on set which is the take which ended up in the movie.
Also another scene he got pushed with more takes was the first meeting with Loki, he got so into it and pushed his performance more that the mic echoed when he yelled “SHUT THE F**K UP!!” at Loki, obviously not adjusted to take that volume level. It was so scarily good that it was the final take used in the movie!
a must watch film, kept me guessing all the time, when i thought i guessed right i was wrong. amazing performances all around, gripping and tense. hate les miserables though. prisoners was amazing
He was so absolutely fantastic in this film, and so incredible at playing such a driven to violence parent that I had to watch this video just to see him as a normal, happy human being.
Hugh is just perfection.
X-Men was made in 1999? Damn that makes me feel old.

Casting is impeccable and making a lot of sense. Each actor/actress fit into their role like gloves.

If you want to know a director that really pushes, David Fincher shot the scene where Ed Norton gets thrown down the scene using 50 takes with the stuntman. He used the first take for the final cut. 😂
I loved this film! Though I felt very down when it was over it did what it's supposed to do.
He really looks more scary in the movie i mean if he comes to me for a fight as the character from the movie i'm like i don't wanna fuck with this guy but if he comes to me as the real him he doesn't look as angry as he is in the movie, really nice directing...
lol in real life he doesn't look angry at all. He looks like a gentle person and a major sweetheart.
