    I have a 2006 Honda Pilot , yesterday i had cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the throtle body on it. Today i was driving to work and idle was going up and down and it was accelerating to 2000rpm when i stepped of the gas, it was scary like i had the cruise control on 😆 And the check engine light came on , the scan tool said "unexpected high idle". I was worried i thought i had broken something while cleaning the throttle body , then i removed the battery cables for 30 min and put them back on and followed your steps and it worked it runs way better than before it idles perfectly and the check engine light is gone! Thank you very much its people like you that make RUclips what it is today an amazing app for knowledge to save people big 💵💵💵 keep up the good work and thank you for your time to make videos to help people like me

    It worked 2008 CR-V very well.
    The idle was 1.2k after throttle body cleaning, became 0.75 now after this procedure.
    Thank you very much.

    Great video but it does not work with my 2004 Accord V6 6-Speed. I have tried 10 times and it simply will not work. Upon doing research I am thinking this whole procedure does not work, and you MUST have a compatible OBD2 Reader. Usually for Hondas 2003 and up you have to do this procedure AND you have to have a bi-directional OBD2 scanner that is capable of relearning, or an OBD2 scanner with HDS Software (Honda & Acura Diagnostic Systems). I was told without a bidirectional OBD2 scanner and or HDS this procedure cannot be done. And if it worked for you guys it was a mere coincidence, or your car did not need relearning in the first place.

      Yeah I'm pretty sure this only applies to electronic throttle bodies I tried this too after replacing a maf, valve timing spool assembly and my tps sensor I have a scan tool that tells me readiness and the 3 times I did this it said idle relearn incomplete I think some people don't know that 2005 was the last year on the 7th gen accords to have a conventional throttle body before they started using drive by wire

  • @strivezoul

    just wanna share my experience, this happened to my crv 3rd gen. i had high idle problem after i inadvertently removed the throttle body to clean it. I gave up trying any available option to reset it. so I ended up taking my car to someone who remaps ecu. He cured the idle problem right away. So i think the ecu can only be reset by some kind of diagnostic tools or specialised tool for honda car..

    • @xradicaljetx
      @xradicaljetx 5 лет назад +2

    • @chriscadman5715
      @chriscadman5715 Год назад +2

      Another thing they might have done is clear the PCM. There are 3 ways to clear DTC's: 1. DTC clear, 2. PCM clear, and 3. CKP clear. #1 clears the DTC's only; #2 cleaers the PCM but not the CKP, and you must do the idle relearn after that; and #3 clears the CKP which involves a procedure to reset it. So maybe the guy did #2 and had to do the idle relearn. You need a scan tool to do #2.

      +salman esmail you run the car at 3000 rpm
      Until the radiator fan comes on or the coolant temp reaches 194 degree. Then you let it idle for 5 minutes.

    It didnt work for me and I had to do a reset following this procedure:
    1. Remove negative battery terminal. 2. Remove positive battery terminal. 3 Be sure you arent going to make contact with the battery, for later steps possibly even remove it from the car if needed 4. Connect the battery cables together either using a jumper cable or clamp them together if they reach. 5. Turn on your key to on (not ACC, to on) and yes there will be no lights on the dash. 6. Leave for 10 minutes. 7 Turn your key back to off, reconnect positive then negative and THEN follow the idle relearn procedure you will find pasted all over youtube (or just start the car rev 3k rpm until the car reaches temp and then leave it to idle 10 min). You will also need the radio code and possibly relearn your auto windows, for which there is good info for on youtube.

    • @Theone9102
      @Theone9102 6 лет назад +2

      What's the purpose for connecting the positive and negative to cables? We dont need to have power to do this right? That's why you disconnected them in the first place. Got a little lost after you said that. I just did a drain and refill and changed the filter on the outside of my trans. Now dealing with high idle

    Hello everybody, I have a 2006 Honda Accord EX 2.4L K24A8 engine(I4) and its perfect condition, well maintained from me and the past original owner. The issue I’m having is that when I want to accelerate it feels like it doesn’t and I see my RPM struggling to past 3000. I can get to 65 on the freeway but it takes a while. The transmission feels smooth and shifts fine. I have clean my mass airflow sensor, bought a new throttle body and EGR valve, sparks plug are new, new air filter and new starter but I still have the problem. Any clue what could be?

    • @BrutalUniverse
      @BrutalUniverse 4 года назад +7

      Your problem is a little screen which is a tiny filter on the VTEC Solenoid Spool Valve. It’s located behind the engine on the passenger side. You’ll to take out four 10 mm screws then proceed to remove the small filter and spray it thoroughly with parts cleaner or brake cleaner put it back it could resolve your issue. Also also I would recommend to change the engine oil right before you complete this filter cleaning process.
