Thank you so much Skillshare for sponsoring this video!
So I have ALWAYS wanted to do an Anne of Green Gables Lookbook, and so I finally did!! This is loosely based on both the 1980's version and "Anne With an E", and as always, it's not meant to be historically accurate or taken as full-on costumes. My lookbooks are always my interpretation of a theme through my own personal style. I hope you guys enjoy and can relax for a few minutes.
I love you all, my kindred spirits!

The effort put into the cinematography, thematic locations, and just general aesthetic is franky jaw dropping.
Ok I 100% agree with this comment but "franky jaw dropping" made me laugh out loud lol
100%
Yesss agree
I think LM Montgomery would be so happy to discover the influence of her book and character 100+ years after its conceptions on young ladies around the world
Amazing video
My dream of growing up to be Anne now seems possible.
Loved this so much! Would you ever consider doing a Little Women lookbook? :)
Ohhh yes that would be awesome!!!
Second this SO much!
that would be amazing!
I would love this

yeah so I never thought I'd cry at a lookbook but HERE WE ARE
So did I! Literally CRIED!!! 😫
Honestly, now I wish to publish my Edwardian novel in hope to see how you would do the characters lookbook. Btw, the heroine is redheaded just like you 😅😅😅
Ms. Crewe Good luck with your book!
Ms. Crewe good luck with your book I hope to read it one day 😊
All great novels have fiery redhead heroines
Who doesnt LOVE Anne of GG. I dressed up as Anne at my job at school for our favorite story book character. Only one person knew who I was but she was so so excited to see me. Kindred spirits are far a few between but they are out the. Your video....exquisite!
A few years ago, for world book day, I was Diana and my friend was Anne
Loved And of Green Gables, one of the best. Kindred Spirit.
This is so beautiful, creative and well-done OH RACHEL teach me your ways, I'm always in such awe of your creations
Holy cow i feel like you've read my mind. i just watched the 1985 movie last night and then obsessively looked for clothes on etsy to become anne and now you've posted this video!!
The 1985 movie and its sequels are my favourite version of anne of green gables (besides the books, lol)
Best movie depiction in my opinion *chefs kiss*
Megan Follows will always be the only Anne!
I've been watching Anne with an E on Netflix ! (They FINALLY added season 2 to Canadian Netflix) The music is perfect and so is the styling of course ! I think my favourite was Dianas. Overall it was beautiful!
Ironically I was just thinking of Anne, my school is doing a play on Anne of Green gables and the Netflix show gives me big fall vibes
Where did you film for this? The locations are absolutely beautiful!!!💜💜💜💜
For the Marilla look I spotted some locations from Old Sturbridge Village. It's a living history museum in New England centered around the 1830s. If you ever get a chance I would highly recommend checking it out!
RACHEL this is so beautiful I couldn't even finish the video before coming down here to tell you so. Your filmmaking skills have always been impressive but they are front & center stage in this video. The composition of every shot and the lighting are captivating! And do you have a new camera? Everything is so crisp! I've loved your content for years but this is a major step up. Absolutely gorgeous! Now to finish up and watch this.... 1,000 more times...
Kate Parker i wrote a similar comment! I think part of it too is since Rachel went full time youtubes, she can put way more time and thought into them... which definitely shows!
Mona Lisa But Make It Vintage /Golden 20's would be so cool! Also love the video and how much effort you put into the making! ☀️
Love Anne of Green Gables! And you!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg 😩😩♥️ Why was I crying during this lookbook?! 🥺🥺💕💕💕
Heeheee ❤️❤️
Cause it's like you've found your kindred.
Me too! I started tearing up when she got to the "Avonlea" part, why? Hit me right in the feels.
Big mood
The nostalgia
You’ve done this Canadian proud! 🥰
YES!!!!!😍🥰 This Canadian was transported back to the days of Megan Porter-Follows as Anne, and Rachael, 😉 that Marilla was spot on!!!
I love your lookbook series 😃 I feel like the outfits are always spot on with the characters and themes.
I absolutely love this!!! I read this book series with my mom as a kid, and it always reminds me of her. I still love the idea of kindred spirits.
Eleanor Baker can you please tell me what were they called? I really wanna read them
veggi Stock it is just the Anne of Green Gables book series! 👍
Eleanor Baker oh thank you because i looked on amazon and I didn’t find anything really I’ll look again! Thank you 😊
veggi Stock good luck! 😀
Everything about this is just perfect and I wanna cry. ♥
Back in the day when I read Anne for the first time, I had decided that I want to be ginger. I was like 9, and it has stuck with me ever since. Now (sort of thanks to you and henna) I am living my redhead dreams.
Thank you, Rachel. ♥
I cannot express enough how amazing this is! I so love the spirit of Anne and her community that I named my daughter Avonlea 19 years ago and you absolutely captured the feel and beauty of everything that Avonlea is (the story & my girl!) Thank you for sharing your gift!
Avonlea, how beautiful! My daughter is named Cordelia. :)
This is so beautiful! I just discovered your channel this week and you’ve inspired me so much. Like you I’ve never felt at home in modern fashion, but my dad sells classic menswear for a living and has always dressed handsomely (he looks like Gregory Peck on a given day) and I’ve always loved the timelessness of it but never had the courage to try it myself until I found you! Thank you ❤️
girlsleuth1 that’s funny because I had a crush on Gregory Peck as a kid
Firstly: Rachel looks SO GOOD with chocolate brown hair
Secondly: I would love Rachel to do a Outlander themed outfit/video!
Love. Love! LOVE this so much!
Puffed sleeves! My heart is so happy! Thank you.
The fact so many people are still into Anne of green gables makes me so happy! This was wonderful to watch! Can’t wait for season 3 of Anne with an E.
And the Oscar for best film, actress, and costume design go to Rachel Maksy! I adore these themed look-books
I can never not love a version of Gilbert Blythe.
Well, except the PBS one.
There's a PBS adaptation? I should check it out. I love Gil too... what do you think of the Anne with an E version of him?
@@sarahturner4148 Yes there is. Anne is portrayed beautifully there but Gilbert and Matthew's characterisation just didn't fit well with me in the PBS one.
I love everything about Anne with an E. It's a great series, quite underrated too. Stories are a bit mature and feel more real and heavy in comparison to the books. But it's a perfect adaptation.
I love Awae! Gilbert, he has his own storyline not always revolving around Anne's. He's written more real and far more complex, I mean he's quite complex in the books too just with more context and depth if u know what I mean. He has his flaws that are sometimes frustrating, but his goodness trumps them IMO.
How did you like Awae! Gilbert, assuming you've watched the show too.😊
@@blorbofy yes I love Awae too! I do still find it kind of weird that Anne and Gilbert already have a good relationship when I seem to remember them being mean to each other for a long longer, but I kind of ignore it because they're so cute together. And I love pretty much everything about Awae too. Each character has their own unique characterizations which is really nice.
Hey, I just wanted to tell you that this video made me cry in the most wonderful way. You channel is one of the most comforting things I've watched during quarantine, and I wanted to thank you for making me feel things. Happiness and joy, and even sadness in questioning always seem to be missing in the numbness, but then you're here; even when it's just me coming across an old video. Thank you for creating such beautiful things. I haven't allowed myself to cry and feel in awhile. Thank you for waking me up
three years late to this comment but it gave me goosebumps. hope you're doing well ❤
My teenage girl self would have loved these outfits when I used to go to Green Gables. I'd have my Anne of green gables book with me the woods around the house were my favourite.! It's such a magical place, seeing Anne's room and her things. Aw, memberberries!
Rachel, Anne of Green Gables holds such a special, nostalgic place in my heart and while watching this video I was completely moved to tears, you captured it perfectly! Im so emotional right now oh myyy gooodddd, you made me feel right at home. From the cinematography, to the looks, it was so romantic :,)
I grew up watching all the Anne of Green Gables films and books and this video just made me really happy! The cinematography is beautiful~~ and I loved how you did other characters apart from Anne ♡♡♡
How could anyone dislike this. This is a gorgeous video!!! I adore Anne of green gables and Rachel so put them together and.....
You get a masterpiece
My little thumb couldn’t click fast enough on this video!! Ahhh!!!
I've just finished watching the series Anne with an E. And am about to watch the film version too.
I just remembered this video exists. And it's even lovelier than I remembered! Very awesomely done!
Beautiful! May I humbly request a Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries look book?
This video made me so happy that I cried through most of it!! 👏🏻👏🏻
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️
Hi Rachel, I am french and I loved "Le bonheur au bout du chemin" so much when I was a child, thank you for this tribute.
I absolutely cherish Anne of Green Gables. Who wouldn't want to be her or to be her friend? Such a sweet soul! This video reminded me of time spent with my mom sharing Anne's adventures. Thank you, Rachel!
I'm kinda sad you didnt do Mathew but holy shit this is amazing! So much! And everything was so beautiful, the music, the outfits, the landscapes, the cinematography, just from one end to the other it was practically perfect in every way.
That was the most beautiful thing ever! I love Anne sooo much and your interpretation is gorgeous😍😍
OMG! Just about every vignette brought tears to my eyes. I discovered Anne when the CBC version played on PBS. I totally fell in love with her and then devoured the books which I loved even more. I gave my second daughter the middle name Anne for her. Thank you! I loved this!
Anne of Green Gables from the 1980s was always and will always be one of my favorite movie series ever! Thanks for this look book!
This is so perfect! I've been rereading the books, too.
I’ve always loved Anne’s style. This was perfect, beautiful, and so inspiring!😭😍
The Avonlea look took me right back to the 90s series "Road to Avonlea." Nailed that historical CBC look!
Thank you for making this video. Anne has been part of my life for almost 40 yrs. I, first, read Anne of Green Gables when I was 9.
I'm so excited for the new season aaaahhh!!!
I love the Anne of green gables movies there so good but I don't like the show on Netflix
Yeah the show tries to make the story darker and veers from the books. I like Anne of Green Gables because of how pure the whole story is.. feel-good but with some real life events... we don't need to make it a dark story
@@Cecilia13241 yeah plus it's dosent make it feel like a classic
Agree ^
Just more fun, laughs and these films are beyond compare. What a talent. We adore you. Me and hubby.
I just re-watched the 1985 Anne of Green Gables, and discovered they had continuing series with the same actors!! Perfect timing on the lookbook video!!
Oh, that was a wonderful homage to Anne with an "e". My dear sons and husband supported my desire to vacation at Prince Edward Island three times! And watched Kevin Sullivan's PBS series countlless times, throughout their childhood. I read all the books. But it has been 15 years since I have visited this magical place by book, video or by car. Thanks for reminding me of dear Anne. Aside note, back in the early '90s Colleen Dewhurst presented an evening of Dewhurst doing monologues from Eugene O'Neill. Very high drama. But Ms. Dewhurst who played these very stern characters is a goofy gal! Or was. She smoked and had three diet cokes on stage with her. Then I asked her about Marilla and she thrilled to tell her experience of fulfilling a childhood dream. Her love of "Anne of Green Gables". Lovely thank you.
“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world”. Love your video!
Started to watch Anne with an E this weekend..just finished first season. It's so sad, I wouldn't cope watching it without Anne being just so fantastic! What a wonderful person she is despite all her troubles.
I'm just here to say that I live in Atlantic Canada, (new Brunswick specifically) and its nice when ppl acknowledge that new Brunswick, Nova Scotia and most importantly PEI exist and Canada isn't just Toronto and Vancouver lol. Also I've been to Prince Edward Island and seen the actual green gables house and it is AMAZINGG. You've got this Canadians approval, absolutely stunning, love the Diana look!!
Dianna was my favorite look honestly. The blue was just instantly recagnizable as her.
0:49 that’s absolutely beautiful..frame worthy!!
I grew up spending every summer and every Christmas on PEI, and it honestly confounds and delights me that people worldwide can understand and *put into a video* the exact essence of what it feels to be there, visiting the real sites. Much love from Canada, Rachel!
Hell yes! Anne Shirley Cuthbert is the lookbook I am here for! Perfect timing for the new season of Anne with and E! Love love love ❤️💕
Looking at your lookbooks is always such a meditative experience for me. I now call it selfcare
Omg. I used to watch Anne of green Gables with my mum when I was a little girl 35 years ago. You have brought it back to life for me. Thank you so much. X
That blue blouse with the brooch is goalssss😭😭😭😭
Ann of Green Gables is one of my all time favourite films and I loved all of the clothes that you wore .
You as literally everyone in Anne of Green Gables= Perfection.
I am OBSESSED with Lucy Maud Montgomery's works. You did an amazing job on this!
Absolutely beautiful! Your lookbooks are always one of my favorite things to watch. From the outfits themselves, to the scenery and cinematography, everything is perfect.
I’m obsessed with this whole thing
Remarkable resemblance. Totally love that series. Watch it as often as I can. Very nostalgic!
All the looks are so perfect!!! I love this story, I'm so happy you brought it to life with this spin!
Love love love it, will rewatch it a dozen times.
This is amazing. I had no idea Anne of Green Gables was so beloved outside of Canada
When I read the title it made my day, I’ve been looking for a look just like this
I knew you'd make a good Anne, very glad to see you pull it off so nicely.
love the queen anne's lace touch!
Beautifully done!! I am especially in love with the gilbert look. I am finally feeling inspired enough to finish the waistcoat I'm working on!! :)
This is EVERYTHING.
This may be one of my favourite videos you’ve ever done. The way this is filmed is just stunning. You inspire me and so many others I’m sure !
I was looking up anne with an e outfits and this was the first video to show up and I got so exited that it was you. thank you
Just when I think I couldn't love you more than I already do, you do this. This look book was utterly perfect is every single way. I almost cried.
I love the Gilbert look. The more masculine vintage look is one I really wish I could pull off.
Its oncredinle how you can change to look like so many characters and so accurately!!
This ia the cutest little thing, I am in love with these outfits ♥️
I love the look books you do!
Diana looked EXACTLY how I always imagined her! Such a beautiful and pleasing video ❤
Ooooh, I grew up in PEI where Anne is set and you captured this so well! Made me very homesick, but excited to see people loving on Anne all over!
Oh lovely!! Amazingly filmed, living for how cinematic it looks! ❤ And all the beautiful outfits of course!
This was so darn awesome and you looked beautiful in every outfit! ❤️
I live how much attention you gave to each character's background and setting as well as the outfits. Well done!
The only lookbook I have ever truly enjoyed. Absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you lovely!!
The freckles are adorable!!
I love your lookbooks. They are always soooooo beautiful ♡
these outfits are all so nice and the settings and filming is really beautiful!
This topped your Pride and Prejudice lookbook, which is no easy feat. Ty for bringing one of my all-time favourite literary characters to life. Bravo!
Simply breathtaking cinematography and gorgeous outfits. You are incredible! I love your videos!!
GAHHH SO GOOD! This was so beautiful I wanna watch it over and over again. And your cinematography in this was glorious. Everything is perfect.
As someone who grew up loving “Anne of Green Gables” I thought you captured the essence of the books perfectly! I could watch this again and again! You are a perfect Anne!
Best look book yet!!! Loved it.
THIS IS SO GOOD!! The outfits, the locations, the filming, omgggg.
I have yet to see Netflix's version of Anne of Green Gables. I LOVED the 1985 mini series. It made me want to be called Anne with a E and marry a man named Gilbert. Adored your video as always. Brought back some childhood nostalgia. Thank you!
