"Everything is romantic" is one of my favourite songs on the album, and I think the repetition is integral to it. It's part of the dance side of the track that is juxtaposed against the more traditionally romantic sounding elements (not just the lyrics of a Neopolitan summer, but the film score-like intro and the electric organ in the background) to tell a story and make a wider point about how "romantic" isn't just a particular aesthetic, but something that is shared between people.
I agree with Anthony that we should just chill out about music discourse. It is fun to discuss ratings and rankings and tiers and genres, that is why we do this. There is a lot of tension and anger about people "gatekeeping" and "pigeonholing" but it is just communication! When the toxicity comes out (since it always will somewhere) it is not the fault of the nerds, just the fragile egos among them

"Everything is romantic" is one of my favourite songs on the album, and I think the repetition is integral to it. It's part of the dance side of the track that is juxtaposed against the more traditionally romantic sounding elements (not just the lyrics of a Neopolitan summer, but the film score-like intro and the electric organ in the background) to tell a story and make a wider point about how "romantic" isn't just a particular aesthetic, but something that is shared between people.

I agree with Anthony that we should just chill out about music discourse. It is fun to discuss ratings and rankings and tiers and genres, that is why we do this. There is a lot of tension and anger about people "gatekeeping" and "pigeonholing" but it is just communication! When the toxicity comes out (since it always will somewhere) it is not the fault of the nerds, just the fragile egos among them
the state of vultures 2 is truly saddening and sobering. i think even those of us who had given up on ye were at least inwardly hoping that V1 was just a fluke, and he could come back to making undeniably good art again. because at the end of the day, despite all of his character flaws and the irrevocable damage he’s done, the saving grace of ye was that he was a trailblazing artist with a stellar breadth of work.
but what happens now that the music isn’t even fire anymore?
now is the pivotal moment in which we have to reckon with the harsh reality that ye isn’t the same cultural zeitgeist he used to be. and every move he’s made as of late only continues to tarnish his legacy. the cult is getting smaller. he used to love talking about art and music and film and culture that inspired him. now, i’m terrified of what he’ll say every time he opens his mouth. where do we go from here?
