The mountains left of Cross Castle was always a great spot to level in the early game. There's a desert just outside where you can get Damascus to drop, which is great for crafting and fol.
But on this version that accessory stolen off of Philia which is missable almost NEVER drops those medals and do NOT enter the Lasguss mountains even on Earth mode WITHOUT the Marvel Sword equipped on Claude.
Only those enemies only give up around 2500 exp MAX if you fight 8 of them at once SOLO the Lasguss mountains can give up around 8000 to 10,000 on a SOLO Claude run.
Celine is still PURE CRAP so even with you lving Claude/Rena TO lv 100 BEFORE entering Krosse Cave still get RID of Celine on the way OUT of that cave.
A turbo controller, and any outdoor area allows you to auto grind. Add the accessory you get from the goodie box so you can't be back attacked. Then add scout more enemies. Take a nap for instant SP, BP, and leveling.
Changing formation to free form i think it is. free something will net you more xp as well. 25% extra and 50% extra fol when you collect 300 of the light ball things from battle. it adds up a lot. im getting 2-3k xp from 3 group battles vs green enemies
Doing a Claude solo run and yeah he is getting crazy powerful. First thing I did was max out Determination (still in the cave). Getting Train along with Scout can also increase EXP.
Yep defo. One thing I learned after making this video, is that the difficulty does spike multiple times throughout the game. Stopping for these grinds is kind of more important than I expected at the time!
@@FuzzfingerGamingI had that realization when playing star ocean first departure r so being op earlier isn't necessarily bad because you'll be able to craft really good gear that will last you a while and enlightment is a group skill you'll want because it increases your sp and bp you gain through battles that being said I love this game and I know what skills I have to max out I mean I made silvance for claude already which is a insanely strong sword lol
For that still MAKE at least 1 BLOODY armor Blacksmithing lv 10 Damascus used equip it immediately on Claude set a HP DRAIN factor TO the Marvel Sword itself and the Bloody armors HP drain effect won't ever KILL you.
Tbh the concept is great, but go to langus mountains instesd of the cave and get the mp balloons to fight. They do no damage to you only mp drain, gain exp save and repeat to the point you'll start surviving and then you snowball. I bought it the day after it came out played for 5 hours and claud and rena are lvl 70, Celine is not worth the party though shes always been lackluster
I found a better experience farm than this; it ONLY works in the remake though. Go to the Lasgus Mountains (accessed after you rescue Rena very early on). There you will want to use the save point near the entrance. Walk toward an enemy and face away from them to get into an AMBUSH attack; this has a very high chance of getting into a fight with Black Balloons. These can not damage you but only drain MP meaning you cannot die from this fight. Either 3 or about 6-7 will spawn at once. Defeat them for a TON of experience and Fol. Afterward, save your game again and repeat with the next encounter. You can be ambushed by other enemies at times which will be an unwinnable fight low levels but most of the time you'll get Black Balloons.
im not sure if its still there but at the beginning of the regular star ocean game after you save rena there is a blob that you fight during a random encounter in the same forest that gave massive exp not sure if its in this version though
Is there a 100% perfect guide for someone who wants to get all characters and skills and secret items etc? Haven’t found one yet and I don’t want to search part by part since I. Lazy
game is still broken beyond repair honestly and i love it, 11 hours in, level 66 on claude and late 50's on the other two, 2,1 million fol on me, and basically way to good of a weapon for claude and not much for the other two, well worth the buy for me and also how is the platinum already 0.01% already
Getting overpowered early lol Finish the mission to get 10% items (I did it by cooking and crafting) to get a Goodie Box. Save. Then open the box if I didn't get Sword of Marvels, just load up the save.. rinse and repeat.
out of party chars. always gained a small amount of exp, ever since the 1998 release of 2nd story. Think it was even part of the first star ocean as well.
its not a bug, its just a feature that passive characters gain partial exp in order to reduce leveling grind and so that characters that yren't in your party, totally fall behind your active party members... in the ps1 original that didnt exist, making it a slog to grind Levels for your inactive party members. its just a nice quality of life improvment to reduce the grind of the game - at least for leveling characters and the game has like all SO games a max level cap of 255, so thats still more than enough grind to reach with all your characters.
actually in EVERY OTHER version of the game party members set to party slots 5 to 8 did not get ANY EXP at all its just that this version gives out MORE exp then normal ie when having Claude SOLO the Lasguss Mountain enemies on the PS1/PSP version of the game you'll only top out at up to around 8000 exp PER battle due to the CHAIN battles solo Claude the same enemies can be worth like 50,000 to 70,000 PER battle IF you fight 5 battles in a row and win ALL of them.

How did you get them to send you a game early. I have been trying to get into doing that
the mountain is much faster
It isn't a bug but a feature. Its a way for your inactive party members to not lag behind in levels especially once you get the 8 party members.
A feature I am about to be really freakin GLAD that it exists as I'm about to recruit party member #5.
@@itsOasus Everything comes at a cost. You do this, you can't steal as easily from NPCs. Or do other things. There's always something....

If you really want to power level to 100, then there's a trick you can do with item creation and medals.
That’s where I always did my early grinding in the original, got to level 25-ish in no time and went on my way.

I just got Celine as a guest. Claude has Marvel Sword and Rena has Sorcerors Knuckles now I'm about to go into Krosse Cave

Benched party members getting passive experience sounds more like a qol update than a bug imo
Sword of marvels + meteor ring, sword of marvels makes every attack hit and has 1100 attack which you can also get after cstle portion of krosse
if you dont like claude you can get all the "1000" attack power weapons from the goodie bag

About that its still possible that ambush attacks will NOT always fight those Balloon enemies so the Marvel Sword is still required.

im not sure if its still there but at the beginning of the regular star ocean game after you save rena there is a blob that you fight during a random encounter in the same forest that gave massive exp not sure if its in this version though
it's there, the one who duplicates itself. you must enter and exit the forest until it spawns near one of the chests
