It's almost been 3 years with M1 Air Base model, and it still works smoothly with my 4k screen. Also In the library everybody uses their heavy and noisy game laptops while I have never heard a fan noise :)
The M1 MacBook Air is truly a phenomenal device in 2024. Great hooked up to an external display for home use and on-the-go for audio production, video editing and occasional gaming. While the M1 MacBook Air does not support rapid charging, you can increase the rate at which the battery charges by purchasing an Apple 61W USB-C or greater charger, however for the sake of battery longevity slower is always better and therefore it is best to use the included 30W charger. Rock on!
Apple Arcade: Oceanhorn 2, Sonic DreamTeam, HorizonChase2. I also use it with Dolphin to play games like Zelda Skyward Sword, Sonic Colors etc. Wii Games work well with the Nintendo Pro Controller with rumble and gyroscope support.@@TechWithScott
Bro I have this machine. It's already 12 hours since I charged to 100 and I still have half the battery. I mainly use it for work and watching apple TV in picture in picture mode. I really can't believe laptops can be unplugged for a long time until I bought this m1.
I bought the M1 air a month ago - coding, office stuff (writing documentation, video calls etc), and editing photos is a breeze. It's really hard to make this machine struggle. My typical workloads include node.js (nextjs + mongodb), webstorm, dxo pure raw (AI denoising) - and I usually do all of this on battery, with energy saving mode. I can easily go 10-12 hours without charging. Only thing worth noting - never get the base 8GB RAM model. Sure, macos handles memory pretty well, but 8 is just low enough that swap will be used way too much, and the SSD will suffer.

I will purchase this MBA this week. Definitely the machine I need. Alongside my IPad best investment I ever made.
How much longer do you think apple will support the m1 air ...I am thinking of getting one.
I believe until 2027
@TechWithScott thanks for the reply...great video..I will subscribe.
7 years at least could be longer but a minimum if 7 years

Completely agree. Curious what games you run?

What software are you using to edit? Final cut?
I use filmora 13 I believe. Personally the easiest to use but still a lot of functionality
Macbook air m1 8/256 ok for video editing?
Love my M1 Air. Pleasure to use and so so fast.
What configuration do you have on your mac?
Just picked one to dip my toe in MacOS. Paid $700 at Walmart for base model.
Yeah, a fantastic little machine. Best laptop I've ever had.

True on the college laptop. Unless you are doing anything with coding. Highly recommend Mac
Yea, no. Node projects compile in an instant, JetBrains IDEs run like butter - what exactly is the issue with coding on M1 air?
Scott this is your dad. Make your bed.
I’ll do better
My M2 Air 15" gives 10 hours battery backup 🤔 who says 18+ hours of backup
