You make a very good point about how we tend to look at the united monarchy.
Many of us have grown up in massive countries that are themselves part of what is essentially a Judeo-Christian global empire, and we tend to read that scale back into our past.

By placing the monarchy between 1300-1000 BCE, possibly giving the Hebrews a couple of hundred years in Canaan before that, you’ve opened the real possibility that the volcanic eruption of the island of Thera and the History Channel’s wonderful reconstruction of how it caused the seven plagues a very real possibility. Though it really doesn’t impact on your fine efforts, it fascinates me. I must thank you again for making my history much more comprehensible

From what I’ve read and listened to, it seems Solomon got super rich by becoming the region’s arm’s dealer: horses, materials, boats, etc. because everyone needed him, his kingdom became the most powerful one, right up to the rebellions of Edom and Aram.

As a historian, do you think the ancient texts provide a sense of the meaning of history? I think of the conquest of the promised land as a kind of judgement on the local inhabitants, such as the Amorites, as expressed in Genesis 15:16

Another great one. I have a question about the Judges era. I just read an academic paper about the chronology during judges by Bruno Kolberg but was hung up on a passage out of the Bible. He quotes a passage that is during the Ammonite/Philistines oppression before or during Jephthah judgeship that claims God sold the Israelites to the hand of the Philistines. I find that remarkable. Is there any other place where the people are punished by God by Him selling them? I'm not sure if I remember any Philistine or ammonite guitar player selling anything. Ha😃

and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon. And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

This is a very short video and understandably, everything can not be fully developed. This being said, the establishment of the First Temple somehow seems to deserve more texture in the narrative. Just because it is such a momentous event in the course of Jewish history. Maybe it deserves its own focus.

when I compared the narration with Qur’anic Telling of same Events. I see there are some information missing in Biblical Text. Quranic summary is as follows:
Right after Yusha’ Ben Nun (Joshua), Israelites were divided into Tribunal leadership until Prophet’s (Samuel) arrival, one day the Elders (tribal leaders) of Israelites gathered around the Prophet and asked him if they could also have a King as other nations, who can Fight in the path of Elohim (and establish Kingdom of God on earth / Caliphate on earth) so Prophet gave them signs how and who will be their First King. when they heard that it will be طالوت (Talut) as their King they dislike the idea of him having kingship over them because he was not among any of the 12 tribes of the Israelite [ basically a non-Israelite, that is why his name was never mentioned in the Biblical text, he is just referred as King Saul (שָׁאוּל) - which simply means the one who was sought as a King, ] So, the Prophet gave them signs (prophecies) how they will recognize him.
    1. He will be coming with Taboot (تابوت) Ark of the Covenant of Moses and Aaron carried by two Angels
    2. God will sent Sakeenah (سكينة / שכינה) tranquility upon them with it.
    2. Lastly, God will test Israelites near the River (most like it was דטבריא or طبريا Sea of Galilee or Dead Sea) before they enter into the Battleship against Goliath (جالوت)
So they were told by the King to not to use or drink the water of the river but they failed the test and they all use and drank from the river except few True Believers of God. So when they All enter into the battlefield against Goliath, people whose faith were weakened were overwhelmed by Goliath massive army but people who were firm in faith did not loose hope in God and among them was David who then killed Goliath. Thus, God chose David as their next King and as their next Prophet who ruled over many lands which later succeeded by his Son King Solomon. (The whole Israelite kingdom was extends from Canaan all the way to Mesopotamia). (Al-Qur’an Ch. 2: v. 246-252)

@@damaxpowerway your assertion: “the Quran being made up based loosely of the Hebrew history ...”
I am surprised how enlightening your thoughts are ...
if the Quran is based on Biblical scripture then why it is 360 degree opposite to what Bible portrays about Israelite Prophets, who are honoured and exalted in the Qur’an, just to give you few examples:
      Adam and Eve
they both are misrepresented as people who had sinned (Bible)
they both are exalted and honourable (Quran)
      Noah
He is misrepresented as drunk person (Bible)
He is exalted and honourable (Quran)
      Abraham
He is misrepresented as someone who hid the Truth (Bible)
He is exalted and honourable in the sight of God and consider Friend of God (Quran)
      Lot
He is misrepresented as drunk person who then manipulated into extra-martial relationship (Bible)
He is exalted and honourable (Quran)
Sure !!! clearly if Quran is a handy work of Man as it has been alleged by polemicist of the past and present that “the Quranic stories are borrowed from the Bible” than He should have been consistent with the Biblical narrative but we find quite different picture in the Quran. Plus we know from Islamic history that Prophet Muhammad - may Elohim/Allah exalt his mention - was known as un-lettered person so how is it possible that he could have access to Hebrew/Aramaic and Greek sources. A Very unlikely and impossible allegation indeed.
      Just a final word :
The intended purpose of highlighting some of the inconsistencies in Biblical narrative is not to ridicule or defame the Bible. But to show that every Prophet that is mentioned in the Bible is Highly regarded and Honoured in the sight of every Muslims. no Muslim is considered a true Believer unless until He / She believes in All the prophets that Elohim/Allah has sent to previous nations that is why Jews and Christian are honoured as Ahl al-Kitab (People of Scripture) in the Qur’an And in fact, as a Muslim we are commanded in the Quran and Prophetic tradition (Sunnah) is not to insult or defame other’s sentiments because in return (in ignorance) they might insult Elohim/Allah - the Almighty of this Universe in vain (al-Qur’an - 6:108).

I think the Queen of Sheba, or Saba was from the Saban people of Italy. They are now known as the 'Etruscans'. And Etruscan is a totally made up name taken out of thin air to replace the name of the Sabans in Italy. When Rome was founded they had many struggles with the Saban city states(now called Etruscan) and the Sabines as well. Even the Maccabeans sought alliances with Rome, I believe due to the jewish previous historic contact with the Queen of Saba. It is hard for me to say if she was Queen of all the Sabans or of just one of the Saban cities... She apparently owned a rich gold mine. I am unsure of what city she lived in or if it no longer exists... Maybe that city was called Saba.
Rome itself is one possible location for Saba. It is spelled Saba in every language almost except english.
Their rulers in ancient times were female, this was a matrilineal monarchy.
