Sorry kids this genre was created/pioneered in the 90’s by the group Dälek from Newark, New Jersey. They are literally shoegaze hip-hop. Criminally underrated. Also check out artists under genres of Industrial Hip-Hop and Illbient.
Dalek is the group that embodies more this definition but it is also soo and more industrial rap

I think that is better to talk only about cloud rap since the majority of shoegaze influence comes from this subgenre
The Black Kray reference isn't wrong in this video but, for instance, "Crack Clouds over Kitchen" is more cloud rap and witch house oriented

@@Player-uh1rt I mean trippie when he started hopping an popularizing it he made a new twist to it where it’s a more hype sound it was darker before mtr n tak till him Ken with project x yeat and a lot more rappers from the underground n mainstream came in the cut kinda dividing it into multiple unique styles the yeat type rage beats Ken type rage beats then the carti narcissist type beats and trippie redd or sofaygo rage beats then later on uzi comes in the cut which I’m uzi also one of the pioneers for that sound along gab3 and many others, but after pink tape which that album had many elements of wlr his style of rage/ hyper wavy beats started coming in, also u can’t forget trippie has had songs that proves why he’s also a pioneer in rage like his songs with sunny2point0 and some of the songs Pierre produced for him early in his career he was also rapping on those beats before the sound developed fully and was still in development, carti also has plenty of songs like butterfly doors arm n leg rip love hurts wokeuplikethis long time etc but trip also been on this shi n uzi came up wit many different styles like the 2 main one being his melodic rage feeling sound and electronic music style he was doing in his songs that inspired a lot of these rage beats, telling u listen to trips early hype music and you will see my point.
