Each morning I start my day with excerpts of clips from Cilla, Dusty, Petula, Lulu etc but especially Cilla, makes my day and I absolutely love it. I really miss the great Cilla Black. She truly epitomises what a true entertainer is and should. Absolutely no one can and ever will fill her shoes. Rest in eternal rest, until your next calling beautiful Cilla. As Shakespeare wrote, "YOU HANG UPON THE CHEEK OF NIGHT, LIKE A RICH JEWEL IN AN ETHIOPE'S EAR.
" THE MIND STILL SEES, THE HEART WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER. ". 💖❣️💕💞💗💖
    Here's Wishing you were here
    A Cilla Black fan always

I don't know why some of you people even bother to comment. If you don't like her don't watch her. She is an icon of British pop someone who has a lot of loyal fans and doesn't have to prove herself. She is down to earth, funny and lovable. Keep on keeping on Cilla !!!

Cilla is wonderful! Recently was on vacation to the UK, and visited Liverpool. Worldwide, people think of the Beatles and Cilla Black when they think of this exciting city.

Loved that vintage 1967 color interview-and especially Black's blue dress with the orange and yellow turtleneck and cuffs; which matches her red hair!

It's good to know that you are discovering Cilla Black's music. The first single I bought was Cilla's "Surround Yourself With Sorrow", which I bought at The Chelsea Drugstore in Kings Road, Chelsea, London in 1969.

Wow, you were there for the first television recording! I remember watching it and I still have a cutting from the Radio Times.

Goodness, as a Liverpudlian myself, I know how people from Scottie Road speak - and it isn't like this! But I do like Cilla and have been a fan since she first started. I never realised just how 'posh' she spoke in these interviews - she obviously worked hard with the elocution lessons!

Thanks for your comment, Mike. I thought that most Americans only knew of Cilla Black as the British singer who "stole" Dionne Warwick's Anyone Who Had A Heart and took it to #1 in Britain in 1964. Cilla had a British top ten hit with Alfie a year before Dionne has a top twenty hit in United States. I'm pleased that you enjoyed your visit to Liverpool - though I live in London, I have never been there!

She has this down-to-earth quality about her judging from the few videos i get to see of her. Even at the height of her fame when she was given a TV show of her own, her simple, small town girl qualities shone through. I discovered too that she and Dusty Springfield were life-long friends! Also, and I don't know if you would agree, Cilla's vocal quality reeks of the West End or Broadway. Her voice too would have been perfect for Disney Princesses singing voices, don't you think?

Hello my new friend. I remember my mom singing, this must have been in the early 70s for I was a child back then, Cilla's Anyone Who Had A Heart. Mom had a deep voice and having heard it on the radio myself I knew something was wrong. My mom wasn't a singer you see and to hear Cilla's song rendered in very low notes and way off key was dead funny! When I see Cilla's interview and how funny she is I am reminded of my mom. They both have similar sense of humour, very small town in appeal I guess.

I love these videos of Lulu and Cilla viewing themselves from when they were younger. I am sure that Sandie and Marianne didn't do these. I would love to see more of them.

You're right, Dusty's first series, titled "Dusty", was broadcast in 1966/7. "It Must Be Dusty" followed in 1968, then "Decidedly Dusty" in 1969.

@Louizalass Thanks for your reply. I love the idea of the Americans saying "you come from Liverpool? - did you know The Beatles?"! I worked at Harrods for many years and was surprised when people assumed that I would know someone they knew who worked there!

@pixelsarefun Personally, I have never thought of Cilla as a diva, but several comments that I have received regarding this upload think otherwise, some of which I have deleted! Your video of Cilla talking with her fans and signing autographs is a joy!

@GrahamLondonUK . Hi Graham - I was only 13 or 14 by the time the Beatles etc had left Liverpool so I don't recall feeling 'abandoned' - more a feeling of pride if anything, that suddenly Liverpool was on the map for being a hip place! I still feel a sense of pride because even now, at the age of 60, when I visit the States and when asked where I come from, depending on the age of the person, they will always say: "Oh! Liverpool - did you know the Beatles?!!"

I'm only getting to know Cilla Black (Priscilla White) now and discovering her music. Watching her interview since and now, I think she has good comic timing. I find myself laughing at her stories and the very deadpan way she tells them.

Never been to Liverpool?? Its so close for you too! I recommend that you take the train and enjoy this wonderful city! I really enjoyed my stay there. Am planning on visiting UK again this summer, being based in the Birmingham area (where my friends live).
I see some references to Dusty too. Now she was A SINGER!
    Does Cilla still do concerts?

@Louizalass I think because these interviews were going out worldwide people were asked to speak 'posh' simply because back in those days it was felt they would be difficult to understand. I am afraid that all the top studios in those days were in London so you really had to live there

@cakehole53 I think Cilla, Dusty & Lulu were expected to go into variety after a few hit records like people did after the war.

I have never thought Cilla had a Diva image in the slightest. i saw her several times in the 60's walking down the street in Glasgow and actually running to people in front of her and laughing with them, when they turned round and saw it was Cilla Black. I last met her in Liverpool almost two years ago and she spoke to everyone and signed every autograph, then said "Is that everyone ?" Look at my short video of her backstage in the street. you will see she is no Diva !

@pixelsarefun Some female singers have a diva image, usually not deserved, such as Cilla Black and Diana Ross. These women have come from a disadvantaged background and enjoy the fame and fortune which they have worked for. How did you come to meet Cilla?

@Louizalass Back in the sixties, it was the done thing to appear "posh", but nowadays, it is unnecessary. I'm from London and I have always wanted to know how Liverpudlians felt about losing some of their big names (Cilla, The Beatles, etc) to London once they achieved fame. Did you feel abandoned or did you feel that London was the place to be to become really famous?

Met Cilla several times and always so pleasant to everyone. not sure where this "bitch" in real life story comes from. from my experiences, she takes time to be pleasant to everyone. Maybe she hates flying !
