    Please do a follow up video on your experience with the card in Aus - Fees, the 6 digit pin issue etc.

    The card is great it has 7 different currencies to spend on the card. Bought KFC, went to the AFL got a sausage roll, went to the local hotel got some beers. Can use it every where. Game changer!! Thanks VISA

    Are you not able to top up using CRO? I don't hold any BTC or ETH so for me it just says "Insufficent Balance" even though my Crypto wallet has undefeated CRO available.

      Nope, not from CRO ironically. You'd have to sell it into something else first.

    Hey mate, based on what you showed us through, the card looks pretty shit / unusable and will continue to be so until they enable AUD deposits directly into the card...

      Hey Alex, It is definitely usable, but it is less useful then it could be. Fortunately, SGD and AUD have been sitting pretty close together for the last few years ( www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=SGD&to=AUD&view=2Y ) and rarely move more than 1c in a day, so it's not a significant factor. I've also done a few tests of exchange rates where I topped up the AUD amount I wanted in SGD (or as close to it as I could - eg $103.06 SGD to get about $100 AUD - and then spent the same amount in AUD and another transferring the same amount into AUD within the app) and generally speaking there didn't seem to be more than a cent or 2 in variation, so I do think they are keeping costs associated with this as low as possible. It's just painful since most banks in Aus (and especially the big ones) like to charge exorbitant fees on any transactions to a foreign entity, even if it's in AUD, and an excessive exchange fee on top of the foreign transaction fee. The other thing of note is the only ways to get the money back off the card are: spend it, ATM withdrawal - and ATM withdrawals from foreign cards in Aus are also expensive. In my tests, I've seen these range from $2.50 to $7.00 (all at ATM's that don't charge fees on domestic cards). So besides AUD deposit availability, it would also be ideal to see an AUD withdrawal facility even just a connection between the app fiat wallet to facilitate fund transfers back/forwards between the fiat wallet and the pre-paid debit card.

      @@matttalkscrypto Thanks for the reply. Any idea on when we might be able to expect native AUD currency compatiblity with the card?

      I agree... you pay the conversion rate to SGD and then pay again to spend the money in AUD. in the end the 3% cashback is a loss as the rate to convert to SGD and then AUD is more than 3%

      None whatsoever, but I suspect it is coming later this year or early next year. Crypto.com did buy a licensed Australian Financial Services company around the start of the year and have just recently transferred Australian account T&C's to the Australian entity. The next logical step from here is either issuing Australian cards, or better AUD on/off transfers (or both).

      Your bank might be charging you 3% on exchange (if they are, consider using a better bank, the one I use for these transactions only passes on the underlying Mastercard rate and doesn't add anything on top (which equates to around 1% if memory serves). If you are paying more than that your bank is overcharging you. Crypto.com is the same except using the Visa rate which is 1%. So you are looking at around 2%. That said, I've noted some transactions where I see exactly the same amount of SGD go in and out for the same amount of AUD. Which makes me very intrigued as to what is going on there...

    Hey mate hope you doing well
    I have a got query if there is anyway to top up from fiat and crpto wallet to the card in Australia can you share some ways other than credit or debit card topup
    Thanks

      You can top up from your crypto wallet (certain currencies only) but not from your fiat wallet. I haven't done a video on this yet, but if you have a look at 3:41 in this video, it shows the crypto wallet top up option briefly before switching to card top up.

      @@matttalkscrypto Does that mean the only way to use your fiat wallet balance is to buy some crypto and then use the crypto top up method get funds into your visa card? Also I saw at the end of your video there are lots of other currencies. Being in Aus as well, are you able to top up into AUD? Thanks

    • @matttalkscrypto
      @matttalkscrypto  3 года назад

      Hey Jonathon, correct. Your fiat wallet and your card are two separate balances that aren't directly transferable. So if you want to use fiat from your wallet on your card, you must buy something like BTC, ETH or LTC and then use that crypto to top-up your visa card. I'm hoping they link the two fiat balances in some way, but right now, that's the only way to move from the app wallet to the card balance. You are not currently able to top up directly into AUD either by card top up or crypto top up, you can only top up into SGD. Once you have SGD you can move it into AUD on the card. For me, I can't be bothered, it'll convert it anyway when I buy something in AUD.

      @@matttalkscrypto Thanks Matt, thanks for the response. I noticed that the crypto.com states no transaction fees. When you deposit fiat via topping up as SGD, does your bank charge you international transaction fees to deposit as SGD? So for example, to top up SGD$100, it will cost you more than AUD$97 (assuming 1.03 SGD/AUD)?
