Its Years after you made this video, and i just had to send you a big THANK YOU! Just did this on my sisters 2001 Buick. The buckle would not even go into the receiving end at all. I was able to see the mechanism stuck. After liberally applying silicone and jamming an eye glass flat head screw driver in there i had great success!! Thanks buddy

Dude, you are the bomb! It totally worked. Don't know why anyone would give a thumbs down when someone is trying to provide helpful information...for free. If it did not work for you, not his fault.

It works!!!!! Pulled up to Valvoline and asked for some WD40. Did exactly what dude instructs is to do and BAM!! The guys were impressed. Thank you so much for this!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! My seat belt buckle was driving me nuts! I have over 10 stops a night for work and it took 10-50 attempts to latch the belt. I thought I was going to have to pay $45 for a new one or get one of those belt extensions. This fixed it for me!
This is the video that keeps on giving... I had the same problem and made an appointment with the dealer. Next, I watched your 3 min video, walked to my car used WD40 - problem solved. I politely cancelled the appointment with the dealer :)
Passenger seatbelt in my 2003 Honda had the same issue, I got on RUclips 20 minutes ago and yours was the first to show; had some WD-40 in the garage and used it, THANK YOU x100 😭
Thanks for sharing this tip! The buckle in my car had been getting slowly worse over the last year. After watching this video and procrastinating for a few weeks, I finally bit the bullet and got a can of contact cleaner, and now it's working 100% again.
It really works!! my belt has been not "clicking" for almost a year now and finally decided to try to fix it and went with this method before i went to go get ripped off by a "professional". I went to o reileys, bought qd40 and the electrical cleaner, it took about 30 to 35 minutes but it worked!!! and it has no problem with staying locked in besides any amount of pull or pressure . Thank you so much for this vid, because of you my partner was able to sit in the front with me for our 2 hour thanksgiving trip lol 😊☺☺☺😊☺
Dude! You saved me $100 or so bucks!!! WD-40 works. I had to use a plier a little bit just to get it unjammed but once I kept using the WD-40 everything worked like a charm
Brilliant video! Saved my sister a trip to the Honda dealership where they would have possibly charged her a bundle. Bought some silicon cleaner for her old Honda Civic and the seatbeat immediately freed up. Thanks ever so much!
Dude, it worked!!! Thank u very much! The belt was locked, I used the spray and managed to released it. After releasing it the button was stuck, and then again I used the spray and kept clicking until it was free. Thank u!
Thank you very much fishycomics! Used the WD40 and a screw driver till she popped loose again. Mine was just stuck. I had thought about doing it before but your video showed me it actually does work.
Informative and entertaining, definitely not your usual dry dull how to repair video. I'm going to try this when I get home on two buckles in my Explorer that won't buckle anymore. You sir may have saved me $500. Thanks!
thanks mate, my seatbelt wouldn't come loose when I pressed the release button, your video didn't help directly considering its the opposite of my problem, but I wouldn't have managed to figure out the fix without your video 👍
Saving 250 thou- stopped himself. Haha! Good joke. I appreciate the very quick video. It had no long intro with intentions on future colleges to give him a degree on seat buckling systems. The guy just showed his method, and, with enthusiasm. Shortest car maintenance video I've ever seen.
Dude you fixed my car. I called pep boys they don't replace so I checked RUclips found your video. Got out the WD40 bam.. it now clicks and sticks. Mind you my red button has a crack but was locking with no issues until the other day. Now working like a charm.
I did this & when I was digging I caught onto something. Used a knife to slowly work it out, It was a spring. IDK if it was a part of the seatbelt or not, but it works fine now.
I have to admit I was still skeptical that WD40 would solve my problem but it worked lol. Sometimes the buckle wouldn’t work so I’d have to use the passenger side buckle which cuts my neck lol. Don’t know why I waited 1.5 years to RUclips this issue. I sprayed for 5 sec and it worked. Thank you so much!!!
Holy *curse words* ...I've been dealing with this problem for 5 years. Less than 2 minutes it was fixed as I happened to have both cleaner and wd40 handy. Thanks!
Thank you. It worked! the red latch was sticking in a half way down position. WD-40 caused the red latch to spring right back into its proper position immediately. THANK YOU.
I was gonna say "you put the caps on wrong", but you beat me to it. No biggie. I am going to try this on my 2000 grand marquis. I was driving home, pulled into hardees, and realized my belt was not secure. Then i wonder, how long has this been broke?? Thank God i didn't have a wreck. Love the video! Cant wait to try the fix. Have a great day!
Thank you Honda for your clear simple steps to remove and replace a front seat safety Belt.My lasting memory of working with Honda motor bikes (1960's) was the consideration of Honda for home maintenance.

@fishycomics, you are a godsend. MDX 2004 passenger side seat belt buckle can't click. Sprayed WD40 and waited overnight. Next morning, work like a charm. You deserve a ton of cyber beer!
Dude, thanks so much for this video!! My daughter's 2001 Honda just developed this issue. Thought I was going to have to pull out the seat and replace that buckle, but I used the WD40 trick and VOILA! Works fine again!! Saved me a lot of time and energy!!
Thanks, dude!!! I was close to throwing in the towel and going into the dealership to see how much it would cost me to fix vs paying the $90 for a new set. Glad I waited and did some video research. I was able to fix it and save myself those $90.
As a mom of 2 expecting a third I have been feeling super stressed out about my seatbelt and how much it would cost to get fixed. I cannot wait to try this tomorrow. Thank you so much❤
@@fishycomics this morning I sprayed the heck out of the Buckle with WD40 but when I inserted the seatbelt it did not click. It clicks into the other buckle so I know for a fact that its the buckle. Should I try again?

thank you so much, it fixed my 2010 ford mustang, took me less than 1 min. i had this problem for 3 years but i didn't really give a f about until today because i'm selling my car lol
The electrical contact cleaner did it! I did not have to disassemble anything! (earlier, I tried WD40, Blaster, and white lithium spray - no results with these, though)

And I was so sure a dime coin was lodged in it, nope it just looks that way; the sideways-pushing mechanism gets seized from years of random car gunk. It has to be able to slide or you it won't let you press the clasp all the way into the mechanism, that was the thing stumping me. And because it has a positive engagement the silicone doesn't cause it to slip out, it's only lubricating the sprung internal slider which means the thing either totally works or it doesn't.
