After i replaced a damaged condenser, evacuate, and recharged at 2000 rpm...it still wasnt getting cold. Then a day later after watching your vid, i tried it at 2500 rpm. It actually drew in more refrigerant and now it is cold. Crazy but it works. Thanx for sharing.
Just tried this and it worked perfectly! 3 different garages tried to recharge my system and all told me they couldn't charge my crv and I needed a new pump. All along a 5 min fix. Thank you so much for this. My girlfriend was revving the car while I filled it and when I looked through the window and asked if it worked she had nipples like bullets and said hell yes 😂
Awsome sir. I was having the same problem i was getting charged for refregerant all the time 53$ twice in a year until i came across your video. I now do my own research before I take it in so I can have an idea of the problem. God bless you for not charging to watch your video. Besides that may God bless you and everything you do to help out people like me I save us money
THIS WORKED FOR ME! i went to honda and another shop both failed then i showed them this video and they tried it i now have cold aircon! thanks for posting
I have a 2006 crv. First air only worked while it was in drive. But it blew cold air as long as you were moving bc one fan was out. Then it stopped blowing cold at all. Mechanic charged nearly $350 for a new fan and diagnostics and Freon. I kept telling him I’m aware of the fan issue but that’s not why it’s not cold, it’s just not cold while it’s idle or stopped. He said I have 35 years experience, this fan is your problem! Ok he changed it, cold air still didn’t work. I went back. They quoted me $400 more for a hose. Claiming hose was $100 for part itself-they double that , of course , labor was the rest. First of all I got the new hose off amazon for $30. Secondly-when I went to find out how labor intensive it is to change it myself, not only is it right on top-easy to get to not under the motor like he claimed, but nothing appears to be wrong with it. So I found this video and tried it and it worked! You’re right about revving. Even after a few squirts and waiting only a couple seconds nothing appeared to be happening. My partner helping me kept wanting to quit bc the gauge was saying it was full, but when I revved it , it wasn’t . So I said let’s try one more time and he grudgingly added a little more and I revved it pretty good up to 3000 and held it for about 10-15 solid seconds-EUREKA! Ice cold air started blowing out. Way colder than air ever was when I bought it 2 years ago-from a dealership not a person so it was allegedly in tip top condition when I got it. Or at least it was spotless and looked good. Thanks so much! It’s got other issues, bad suspension-bearings and basically all of it is bad-as I live 14 miles down country dirt road and Honda suspensions are flimsy. So anyway $400-700 on a/c was not a top priority-actually driving on the spare as we speak..bent suspension has worn 9 tires in a year..but I digress. I wasn’t gonna have a/c period. No tint, in Alabama, it’s not even bearable. Sweat pours into my eyes , I can’t see=dangerous. I got to where I just didn’t leave house til dark or early morning. Couldn’t take my dogs anymore. Got one kid with extreme heat sensitivity-had seizures from it. This is a lifesaver for us. I want my money back from the shop since half what I paid for was DIAGNOSTICS. From now on I’ll get all my info from RUclips. and I don’t care how allegedly temporary this is, this entire car is temporary. Got no resale value, it’s basically totaled . but with working a/c I probably just added a grand to its value-for $36.
SO sorry for the late reply because for some reason I never seen this post. In any case, thanks for sharing your success story. Sorry you didn't see the video sooner! I hope its still working out for you!
Great that it worked for you, but a word of caution. There are a number of faults which display the same symptom (low pressure on the suction of the compressor) such as a blocked filter drier or faulty thermal expansion valve. Adding refrigerant to a system having these faults and not a lack of refrigerant can result in excessively high pressure on the discharge side of compressor, which can result in catastrophic consequences.
Thanks for your thoughts. As I stated before, this 'fix' is for those who have no other issues with their system's hardware and still have no AC. It has proven to work for 100's of people with no issues. I did it 4 years ago, ONE TIME, and still have ICE COLD A/C. This is after sweating in my CRV for TWO YEARS because no one could fix it.
I followed your directions, and it worked like a charm! In fact, it worked so well that I have to get some more coolant to fill it up! Great video, thanks!
Man I'm getting ready to buy an 04. A/C works supposedly but thanks a million for this tip. 02-06 generation were notorious for compressor implosions. I want to avoid that. Thanks again bro.
Just bought a 2002. Replaced compressor, condenser, all lines, valves, switches. Still blows luke warm. Stop in traffic and the temp inside - at idle - climbs steadily. Sent it to my AC garage - booked in for this tomorrow AM. Fingers crossed
Did you ever figure it out? I have ice cold air until I get to a stop light, at idle the compressor can’t seem to stay on, it turns off after a second or two.
@@That2Aguy Yeah it did work a little bit… It actually worked better than just the regular way. It seems to be holding. And It does feel a little bit colder.
I wish it was so simple. If R-134a is gone then the compressor oil is also gone. Adding refrigerant is a temp fix, you also need to add a proper amount of A/C compressor oil, around 4 oz I believe. My 2006 CR-V stopped cooling after 9 years, found out the fittings are rated to leak 1/4 ounce of refrigerant per year, and there are 8 fittings total if I'm correct. It was $120 to properly evacuate and readd oil and 134a. 2005-2007 Honda Odyssey, 2002-2004 Honda CR-V, or 2004 Acura TSX had really crappy issue with the compressor exploding inside, the internals completely shattering, forcing debris throughout your AC system. After that you are screwed into replacing all HVAC parts: compressor, condenser, hoses, evaporator, expansion device, seals etc. If you only replace compressor it will die again later because of debris left inside :( The whole system kit is only $200 online these days but it is labor intensive.
Thanks for the post and additional information. In many cases, including mine, the compressor had not exploded, and the fittings were not leaking. Because it has been a year and a half since I added the refrigerant as shown in the video and there have been no leaks or problems. Still ICE COLD A/C with no further adjustment or refrigerant. However, I'm glad you posted the info in case there are some experiencing what you stated. THANKS!!
Thank you so much! I was told the same, there's Freon, but did not turn it on the engine. I will this today and will check back with you. Otherwise, I will keep enduring this heatsince I don't have the money to fix it, I was mechanic says it can be in the range of over a grand or two grand.
Are you not worried you're overfilling your system? 100psi when off? I don't see many sources for a safe psi when the engine / Ac is off. I did read that over 60psi can damage the compressor from the redtek site. They recommend between 30 -38 psi. However that's when charging so that'd be with the ac on max.
The 2007 has a recall on the AC system. I missed getting it replaced. I used a small everyday for 15 months to curb the Az heat. It was ice cold. I think I need to replace the ac clutch because now there is a chug sound.
Just saw an Aussie C.A.R. mechanic say the problem was with the compressors and some actually had broken scrolls inside and some had broken outside casing on the compressor. Perhaps this was due to overheating? I am looking to buy a CRV used and don't want to add the cost of a new compressor after buying one. Interesting video.
Yeah that's a different issue. This guy didn't have his AC compressor fail. The Aussie video you're talking about discusses total compressor failure. So this video is good advice for people who still have a working compressor but it wont work for everyone.
to whom it may help. I read that all crv's from the 2002-2008 the ac system was poorly designed and there's a recall. If your ac is not working and the compressor is not engaging most likely thats what the problem is. All heat from the engine disintegrates the clutching in the ac it was poorly designed. I believe that if you take it to a Honda dealer before it has 100k miles they have to replace it free of charge. dont wait till is to late. let me know if this helped.
3 years ago I would have agreed with you that all CRV's from 2002-2008 have poorly designed A/C systems. But after I did the fix in this video 2 years ago, I have never had a problem since...with ICE COLD, I'm talking make your skin hurt if you hold it in front of the fan on a 100 degree day cold. I should shoot a video showing the temperature reading. But hey, if you can get a free system from the dealer, GO FOR IT!
I'm picking up a 2002 CRV in 3 days ..got 125K miles on it and the air seemed adequate (not great) during my test drive ...if I run into a problem, I'll try your idea ...thanks
We have the same model and year of CR V. I haven’t received any notice from Honda about this but haven’t had any problems with the A/C. I came across it by accident on a RUclips video. Maybe it’s too late to seek assistance from Honda. I had the entire system flushed and recharged that was related to another repair.
I have a 2004. I read somewhere that the compressors were bad. There was no formal recall. But Honda would replace it, if you were below of certain number of miles, I believe. By time I found this out, I was above the threshold. They knew these compressors were poorly designed and they should have given a substantial discount, at least to original owners, still in possession. It's a great truck, but this was very shoddy. I will still try your technique.
Do you know what the mile limit it is? I live in a desert so not having an AC is killing me! I've been looking into Honda recalls and whether or not they would replace the entire AC system.
Brenna Jameson The limit is either 100,000 miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. It’s not a recall, it’s a service bulletin www.carmd.com/Tsb/Download/104819/A12-072
Thanks for the comment. I don't think there is low compressor compression because I have had Ice Cold A/C for over 3 years now without doing ANYTHING else to the system other than what you saw in my video. All I know is, what I did in this video years ago, worked, and is still working with no further Freon charges, adjustment, or repair. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL HALF FULL CAN OF FREON THAT I USED IN THE VIDEO on my garage shelf BECAUSE I NEVER HAD TO DO IT AGAIN! Thanks for watching!
Just went to the dealer. I have a 2004 CRV. They were talking $1,200 for a new compressor. They never told me this was an issue with this model. My air conditioning blew ice cold air for three days straight afterwards non stop. Now all of a sudden, it's back to hot air. Sometimes it's ice cold to the point I'm freezing, then it's hot like its Las Vegas.
I bought a used 2003 honda accord euro manual, been a year plus now and i never had d ac to stay working. Put in more than 4 compressor, changed condenser, expansion valve, evaporator and jst 3 days, d ac compressor always dies from black death. I gave up on d ac 3 months ago. I dont knw if this was my issue, is it possible for dis to cause blackdeath in my accord, pls i need help.
Does this still work for you? I tried this in my 09' CRV and it works when the engine has load, but still warm at idle. I took it to a shop, they vacuumed all the refrigerant out and I only had 8oz. they Put the correct amount (14 or 16 oz I think) And it works worse now. Maybe I have a leak? I'm going to look for leaks with UV light, they added dye when they re-charged it.
Hi Fella, it sounds like you do have a leak. I did mine 4 years ago, one time, and I've never had to do anything with my A/C again. IT's STILL ice cold. What was the PSI of the refrigerant when they charged it at the shop? Especially when it is revved to 2500 RPM? The pressure of the system at 2500 RPM is just as important as the quantity of refrigerant. Sorry about the issues your having. :-)
Thanks for the helpful tip! I just purchased a 2002 crv and this is one of the issues. Another is a front right brake line. It goes from the master to a junction box and it’s leaking at the fitting at that junction box. Do you have any helpful information about this? Thanks for the great video! I watched a video about a typical problem with the ac where the compressor goes bad , he called it Black Death, where corrosion builds up inside the compressor and contaminants the entire system if not fixed in time. I’m pretty sure my issue will be fixed with what your video shows. Thanks and hopefully you know something about the brake line issue.
Awesome!! This is EXACTLY why I posted the video. So glad its working for people! Please subscribe if you haven't already, RUclips has changed the rules and require everyone to have a minimum of 1000 subscribers. Please help me reach my goal! I will be posting a few more CRV help videos soon. Thanks again for watching!!
I bought it at Walmart like I mentioned in the video, for less than $10.00...almost 2 years ago. And have never spent another dime since on the A/C. Hope it worked for you.
That’s old school before the reclaim machines also spray water on the condenser. Your lucky I never could get the trigger to work on those cans had to use my gauge set.
I wish I got to try this.. I replaced my compressor a few years ago then this summer the compressor starting grinding to a halt and I just bypassed it since a tech told me the lines were most likely corrupted with the shavings of the compressor
Would have been interesting to see the pressure readings after charging. I’m guessing, by Honda standards, the system is overcharged. But I have an ‘03 CRV that has had plenty of A/C work, and the A/C has always been a performance downer.
HI there, so you can actually see the pressure reading after it was charged. In the video, when I initially put the gauge on to demonstrate what to do, the readings you see are post charging. I just want to say that it has now been over 7 years since I did the video and my original charge of the system as I demonstrate in the video... and it is STILL ice-cold A/C with no further adjustment or charging. YESSS!!! I am so glad I figured out this fix, otherwise I would have gotten rid of my beautiful 2002 CR-V a LONG time ago. You can see all the upgrades I did since this video on our RUclips Channel that you can do to your own CR-V. I Love my CR-V!! Check out Episode 8 here... ruclips.net/video/A51uNz08Bxs/видео.html Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our channel!
Yes, our video is showing exactly what is happening and how to fix it. I still have ICE COLD AC even in 100 degree heat over 6 years later, with no further repairs or issues. Hope it helps you! Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our RUclips channel.
When you use one of these stupid cans of coolant, or Freon as you call it how does that deal with the moisture and are that got into the system when the old refrigerant leaked out? Not s good long term plan
Good day sir, thank you for your comment. To answer your question, which I'm not really sure what you're actually asking, I used the coolant as shown in the video over 6 years ago and have NOT had to do anything else. It still works perfectly, blowing ICE COLD air conditioning in the hot summer months. I have had no leaks, moisture, or any other issues with the system. So, I respectfully disagree with your assessment, it has been a GOOD long-term plan. Thanks for watching!
Hello there! I added until the pressure came up to 25 psi at 2500 RPM with the AC on max. You should feel ice cold air within seconds. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
THANKS!!! Been looking for this. Do you need an NPT adapter fitting? The threads are on the inside on my 2005 CRV. It just doesn’t look like it will fit on like an air compressor tool?
Hello there! The 2005 CRV is the same generation as the 2002 and should be exactly the same as shown in my video. You do not need a special adapter/fitting unless you have modified your vehicle AC system differently than what came from the Honda dealership. It should work exactly as shown in the video. I just drove my sweet CRV yesterday and it still has ICE COLD A/C without ANY other work since I did what was shown in the video. It has required NO further coolant charges or adjustment. If you don't have any other issues with your AC, this should fix you right up! Let us know how it goes. If it works, you could give us our first SUPER Thanks! Just click the 'Super Thanks' button below the video. Thanks for watching our channel and commenting!
I tried this, and my pressure shows high, in the red, like 120 psi, whether it is cold, running, or if air conditioning is on high. no change. Just stays high?
Yes, after almost 2 years now the A/C still works perfect ICE COLD without any further adjustments or charges or changes. I'm telling you folks, if everything else on your A/C is functioning and your A/C is not cold, YOU MUST TRY MY FIX!
A point to watch when cleaning the air con condenser (radiator) to get rid of the insects that have clogged it, be very careful when using a hose as after a few years the fins become very delicate and even a low pressure hose will bend them and completely block the condenser (radiator) when I touch the fins gently on my 05 Honda crv they are like tissue paper and have now decided to replace the condenser, problem is a partially blocked condenser will stop the air flow to the main engine cooling radiator ,as the air con condenser is in front of it and I tow a large caravan and need all the cooling to the engine I can get.
Its called Arctic Freeze. I bought it at Walmart. Its a synthetic refrigerant for charging your car A/C system. It comes with a pressure gauge on the connector hose. Thanks for watching!
Change the damn ac clutch relay. That will fix ur shit trust me. Just redid my 02 crv. Still follow this as well. The clutch relay is under the hood and the symbol is the big snowflake if u look under the fuse box lid
Did your a/c clutch disengage when your psi would drop to zero before you charged it? I'm having an issue where my compressor doesn't stay engaged. It's cold when it does but gets warmer until it reengages and then sometimes it doesn't engage long enough. I'm at like 90psi static and around 40psi when the AC is on (not revved). I don't think it needs more pressure but perhaps with 10 more psi that might keep the compressor engaged? Maybe the pressure switch is turning off the compressor to save it? Did you experience that with your low psi before? What do you think? I'm thinking it's the thermocouple cutting out the compressor b/c maybe it's overheating. I need to feel it. But my thought is maybe this isn't the case b/c it happens right when I start it and start troubleshooting, the compressor shouldn't overheat that fast. Argh, AC is so frustrating!
I feel you brother. It sounds like you have enough PSI though. It may be a switch problem like you say, because the only time the AC compressor turns off in my CRV is when you turn the AC off. I hope you find the problem, let us know if you do. Thanks for watching!
I had my pump changed and it blew cold during the winter, fall, and spring, of course. However, during this summer, ive gotten the freons refilled at a shop. Even after this, my ac still blows warm and sometimes, just a cooling breeze, during the day and cold during the night. Was yours any similar? Do you think I should give this a try any way? Thank you.
Blong, it sounds exactly what mine was doing. Sounds like my video is a good candidate for you. I would definitely try it. Check to see what psi level you have while the engine is running at 2500 rpm. Let us know how it goes. ;-)
Wow I am so going to try this. It sure would be nice if this worked! Thanks either way for helping others. But you probably cost Honda thousands of dollars! Lol
I see this is an older post, but i wanted to ask you. I think the SC system have overpressure protection. What happens with the pressure when the engine is off, after you've added while its running? You said you had 100 psi before start. Can the pressure be to high at any point using your method which may be a problem later on?
All I can tell you is that it has been almost 4 years (and counting) now and I have not had to refill it again. Both before and after I charged it, it was over 100 psi when the car was off, and I have had NO problems. It works perfectly with ICE COLD A/C. NO MORE SWEATING IN THE SUMMER!! YES!. I would recommend adding little by little as shown in the video until it starts getting cold. After posting this for over 3 years, I have NEVER had someone post that it hurt their system from over-pressurization, and 100's of people have tried it with success. But like anything in life, you need to be careful as you do it, and do at your own risk. Again this is for cars that have no other problems with the a/c system. I hope it works for you!
Hmmm... sounds like you may have other issues. Obviously you do not have cold air, correct? If you are still in the red while revved it is probably not a low coolant issue, unless you have some blockage in your coolant lines somewhere. Unfortunately it will be very difficult to diagnose on a youtube chat if something else is going on. You may need to take to a mechanic. Sorry bro. I feel your frustration.
Thank you for this video. I have 1 question though. I was planning on replacing the ac compressor in my moms CRV, but I think I’m going to try this first. My question is, did the ac work at all before you added some? Like at idle, when it said the pressure was high, did the ac get cold at all or did it just act like it wasn’t working?
Prior to fixing it as shown in the video...for 2 years during the summer time when it was hot, it would not work at all. When it was NOT hot out, it would blow a little cooler. As soon as I did what is shown in the video, it immediately got ICE COLD. So you should know right away if it will fix it. If your pressure is dropping to zero when someone is revving the engine, then please add a little at a time while someone is revving the engine until the pressure gets up to 30 to 35 psi. Thanks for watching, hope it helps.
I know it has worked for hundreds of people, I hope it solves your problem too if there are no mechanical problems with your system. Let us know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
You should only have to do it once. If you have to do it more than once, then sorry to say, you probably have another problem with your system. A possible leak somewhere in the coolant line or connection.
Hey when your a.c. did not work did the crv run really rough when you turned on a.c.? That's what my cry is doing worked good yesterday and stoped today
Sorry brother, not sure about that year model. It may be worth a try, but add a little at a time, checking each time if there is a temperature difference.
Great video and I'm considering doing that. However, one concern- Short version question: I'm concerned about overcharging the system, which would put too much pressure on it and cause it to not work effectively, or have it blow. Longer version: So I bought an 08 CR-V. My mechanic did a full inspection on it, testing/checking the car out thoroughly. AC system does not leak and has "recommended" pressure. When weather is 100 or below it works fine. However, today in the high heat of 110 the clutch plate was CONSTANTLY kicking on and off. Well, when it gets hot outside the pressure of an AC system goes up, which can cause the compressor to constantly turn off and on. Wouldn't overcharging it exacerbate the issue?
Hello there! I was concerned about overcharging as well, and that's why I added a little at a time. I would suggest that you see what the pressure is with the car running at 2.5K RPM with the AC on MAX. If it is below 20 PSI, I would add a little at a time until it gets to about 35 PSI, WHILE it is running at 2.5K+ RPMs. If it has more than 35 PSI while it is running at 2.5K+ RPMs than it is probably not a refrigerant charge issue. I still have ICE COLD AC at 100 degrees outside from doing this only ONCE almost 5 years ago. I hope you get it figured out! Thanks for watching and subscribing to our channel for further tips and upgrades to your sweet CRV!
@@mikesbackyardmechanic thanks! So in my research I found out my 08 CR-V's compressor will shut off when pressure gets too high, to protect itself. But I also realized my condenser fan (passenger side fan up front) isn't engaging. So when ambient temp hits 105 or more it's causing the heat/pressure in the system to be too high. I let out a little freon and so far my AC is working fine with the lower pressure. But once I get that fan fixed I should be golden. I've already replaced the 2 relays in the fuse box. Next will be the high side switch, then the low side. then the fan itself. If none of that works then testing wires for continuity (which I could do first to probably save money but at least I'll have all brand new components for the fan 🤣)
@@carlosgames_yt6451 Yes, as of today it is still Ice Cold as the day I did it without any further adjustments or work. On really hot days (98 degrees +) it seems to not be quite as cold but still working good, so I might give it a little boost again with the coolant, but it has lasted like 3 years now.
Pissed I used half the can and noticed my ac wasn't getting any cooler. Shut off the car and heard a hissing noise. Instantly realized it was leaking out somewhere the whole time. Half the can down the drain... Guess I now know why the AC was blowing hot.
No, it did not ruin my compression. As of August 31, 2019 the AC is still running great from the one refrigerant charge as shown. I have not had to do anything else.
Sorry to hear that brother. To be clear, your saying its in the 'Red', meaning the pressure guage is saying there is to much pressure on the A/C system, correct? You may have other issues, like a bad compressor, belts, a/c clutch. This video is for systems that do not have mechanical issues, but the A/C still does not work. If you get it figured out, please let us know. Thanks for watch.
Very sorry to hear that. You may have other issues, leaking coolant lines or connectors, A/C clutch, radiator/fan, compressor. The fix shown in the video is for when all other issues are not a factor. I hope you can diagnose what is wrong bud.
Thinking of doing this on my 2004 CRV. Was your compressor clutch engaging before you added the freon? Mine is not engaging and I can't tell if it's because I don't have enough pressure to engage it or of the clutch itself is broken.
Yes my clutch was engaging before I added the Freon. If your clutch is not engaging when you turn the AC on then its probably the clutch or compressor. But I can see why you might feel you have a 'catch 22'. What PSI does the gauge read when the clutch is not engaged? If its really low, then add some coolant and see if the clutch engages. If the PSI is already high, then you probably need to have the clutch and/or compressor checked to see why its not engaging.
What he is saying is to press the gas pedal lightly until the engine speeds up to 2500 rpm on the tach. Make sure you are in park with the parking brake on.
he's doing that to try to get the compressor to come on. The low pressure safety switch doesn't allow the compressor to be on if there isn't enough r134a. I bypassed the relay on my Honda to get it to come on.
Thanks for your comment, but I strongly disagree. As I've commented repeatedly, I did it over 4 years ago and have never had to touch it again...and I STILL have ICE COLD A/C. I would encourage you to comment more on videos that you have more knowledge of. Just keeping it real bruh. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
This so so AWESOME!! I am so glad for you!!!! Thanks for sharing!
LOL nice comment. I'm going to recharge my A/C tomorrow. Sadly the woman needs to go to work, or I'd be looking out for this.
is this fix still working for you?
@@HeyImBubProductions No. Ended up taking it to honda. They quoted me thousands to fix it. Now sold without AC working.
Hahahaha
Awsome sir. I was having the same problem i was getting charged for refregerant all the time 53$ twice in a year until i came across your video.
After two shops failed to fix it I was able to fix it thanks to your video.
This is after sweating in my CRV for TWO YEARS because no one could fix it.
yes sir you are right

It stayed in the red when I revved the engine, no change. I wish it worked but it didn't. Still worth a shot, thanks man.
Sorry bro, sound like you have leak somewhere in the system. If you can get the leak fixed, you could try it again. Hope you're able to get it fixed.
Just bought a 2002. Replaced compressor, condenser, all lines, valves, switches. Still blows luke warm. Stop in traffic and the temp inside - at idle - climbs steadily. Sent it to my AC garage - booked in for this tomorrow AM. Fingers crossed
Hello there, so are you going to have them do what I show in the video? Hope it works out for you. Thanks for sharing.
Did you ever figure it out? I have ice cold air until I get to a stop light, at idle the compressor can’t seem to stay on, it turns off after a second or two.
Did it work??
I am going to try this!!!!! Thanks! If it works, I am going to break down and cry tears of joy. I have tried just about everything else.
Did it work?
@@That2Aguy Yeah it did work a little bit… It actually worked better than just the regular way. It seems to be holding. And It does feel a little bit colder.
@@stevenm.hollis4429 Alright, thanks 👊
THANKS!!
Actually, the R-134a is the lubricant which is why you should never run an a/c without refrigerant in it.
r134a is the refrigerant. pag-46 oil is the lubricant. I put some of this pag oil with uv dye in my to find leaks amzn.to/2NfofuZ
So are you sure the disintegration issue isn't present for the CRV 2005 models?
Going to try this today before ordering a new compressor kit.
Did it work?
Thank you so much! I was told the same, there's Freon, but did not turn it on the engine. I will this today and will check back with you. Otherwise, I will keep enduring this heatsince I don't have the money to fix it, I was mechanic says it can be in the range of over a grand or two grand.
Thanks for sharing. It should work if you don't have any other issues with the system. Let us know. Thanks for watching!
Are you not worried you're overfilling your system? 100psi when off? I don't see many sources for a safe psi when the engine / Ac is off. I did read that over 60psi can damage the compressor from the redtek site. They recommend between 30 -38 psi. However that's when charging so that'd be with the ac on max.
deepbigeyes It will be different pressures at different temperatures outside and humidity
No, that recall has timed out. It's 2018 after all...
Thank you for saving my 2001 CRV!
Did it work while idling? Mine is hot while sitting still
@@That2Aguy Do a coolant purge. Get the air out of your coolant system and replace the thermostat.
I'm picking up a 2002 CRV in 3 days ..got 125K miles on it and the air seemed adequate (not great) during my test drive ...if I run into a problem, I'll try your idea ...thanks

If it does work it wont for long. I did this and it worked for about 2 days. Then I changed my compressor and its been working great for a while now.

True for you, not everyone!
It’s not a recall, it’s a service bulletin www.carmd.com/Tsb/Download/104819/A12-072
Yup....I was just told about it. I'm over on both...thank you Honda for being quiet about it. Did it work for you? (I have a 2008)
Did it work??
Your expansion valve might be clogging or compressor has low compression
AC pressure is not balanced, low side good but high side too high. Release a little pressure from high side . ( Small line. )
im gonna try this. This Video is what i am looking for cause this is my main problema
I just wanted to say thanks for posting the video. I just did this my wife’s crv and it worked exactly like you said. Thanks a lot.

AWWWW MAN! I wish you had tried my video fix first too! I did mine years ago and it still works perfectly! Sorry, very sorry.
Awesome tip!!! I wondered why mine was not that cold. I’ll be doing this, appreciated!👍🏻👍🏻💥👏🏻

Ok if I rev the engine to 2500 and the guage drops
and I add freon. what is a SAFE Pressure to stop at at 2500 RPM?
It has required NO further coolant charges or adjustment. but the weird thing is, even after I take the gauge off, it still shows high. By the way, the gauge is on the A/C pro can
Omg I have to try this in the summer! I ave the exact same car and the AC has never worked!
Dude it worked perfect what genius thank you
2002 crv
Sweet! Glad its helping people!!!!
Does it still blow cold for you after almost 12 months?
Great Tip! Thanks for the heads up!

I saved a lot of money!! thank you very much!!!
Glad it helped!
Let us know how it goes. ;-)
I will definitely do that and let you know how it turns out for me. Thank you for the response too.

Did it work??
@@mikesbackyardmechanic Thanks alot for the reply :) Sounds like a easy solution. Thanks again.
Thanks for this. Fixed me right up. $aved time resource$ too.
I put the gauge on and the needle goes to the red...and stays in the red, even when revved. Am I missing something?
Hmmm... sounds like you may have other issues.
This works amazingly
@@mikesbackyardmechanic Ok awesome. Thank you. I really appreciate the reply. I’m going to go see if I can help her out
How much pressure did you have when car was off after you did that
The pressure after the car was off after I did the re-charge was around 80-100. But that is still fine since the car is off. Thanks for watching.
Wife has a Honda Element, same as crv. I'll have to try this!
Hope this works on my crv 2ndgen.. ive already change compressor evaporator etc. it worked for only 6days then no ac again..
I know it has worked for hundreds of people, I hope it solves your problem too if there are no mechanical problems with your system. Let us know how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
I revved mine and the psi never goes down. Its reading like 70 psi.
Do I have to do it every time I take the car out?
You should only have to do it once. If you have to do it more than once, then sorry to say, you probably have another problem with your system. A possible leak somewhere in the coolant line or connection.
Mine blows cold on the hwy and the mechanic told me the filter is dirty and it cost a lot to fix it....because it's a lot of work.
The only filter I'm aware of for the system is an easy replacement, behind the glove box. Took 30 seconds to replace on my 08.
Excellent tip
Does this work for 2008 ?
I’ll try this great video love you men
Thank you
You're welcome
Hey when your a.c. did not work did the crv run really rough when you turned on a.c.? That's what my cry is doing worked good yesterday and stoped today
How about 1997 crv that is cold higher rpms but gets hot at idle?
Sorry brother, not sure about that year model. It may be worth a try, but add a little at a time, checking each time if there is a temperature difference.
Great video and I'm considering doing that.
However, one concern-
Short version question: I'm concerned about overcharging the system, which would put too much pressure on it and cause it to not work effectively, or have it blow.
Longer version:
So I bought an 08 CR-V.
How long will this last? This could save my life😂
I did mine just like the video over 4 years ago and its still Ice Cold with no further issues, adjustments, or adds. Its amazing!
I have a 2002 CRV. Will try this.
Hi. I know it's been a few years since this post....but wondering... how long did this fix work for? Thanks.
Joyce Fortin I saw a comment and he said 2 years now already
@@carlosgames_yt6451 Yes, as of today it is still Ice Cold as the day I did it without any further adjustments or work. On really hot days (98 degrees +) it seems to not be quite as cold but still working good, so I might give it a little boost again with the coolant, but it has lasted like 3 years now.
Pissed I used half the can and noticed my ac wasn't getting any cooler. Shut off the car and heard a hissing noise. Instantly realized it was leaking out somewhere the whole time. Half the can down the drain... Guess I now know why the AC was blowing hot.
So sorry to hear that, hopefully you can find the leak and get the connection sealed. Thanks for watching!
God bless. You are great help for all
Did this ruin your compressor?
No, it did not ruin my compression. As of August 31, 2019 the AC is still running great from the one refrigerant charge as shown. I have not had to do anything else.
Welp. I’m about to go in the deep end of the pool and try this bro 😎
Did it all and needle never came off of red...
Is your crv had no abs sir
Tyvm bro appreciate it
Happy to help
This didn't work for our 2007 CRV. Same issue, but your fix didnt work. I so wanted it to work.
Very sorry to hear that. You may have other issues, leaking coolant lines or connectors, A/C clutch, radiator/fan, compressor. The fix shown in the video is for when all other issues are not a factor. I hope you can diagnose what is wrong bud.
Thanks for posting. It was worth a shot. Cheers
Kenneth Close did you figure out your issue? I have a 2008.
No. $1500 bucks to Honda and it works now.
You also have a different year crv
So I add the freon while at 2500rpm and stop at how many psi?
While the car is running at 2500rpm it should be charged up to between 25-30 psi. Thanks for watching and I hope it works for you. ;-)
Thanks
What do you mean “Revving the engine by 2500?” What does that mean?! I’m a teenage girl, I don’t know car talk. 😪
What he is saying is to press the gas pedal lightly until the engine speeds up to 2500 rpm on the tach. Make sure you are in park with the parking brake on.
K Kampy thanks!
he's doing that to try to get the compressor to come on. The low pressure safety switch doesn't allow the compressor to be on if there isn't enough r134a. I bypassed the relay on my Honda to get it to come on.
This is a band-aid, but if you are strapped for cash it will get you by till complete failure 😉
This is true about the crv thanks god bless
