In regards to the whole surprise drop, when it was first uploaded the thumbnail was just the nintendo logo, and the title was "An Update from Nintendo". They really wanted it to be as much of a surprise as possible.
The USB C port on top is probably highlighted cuz it now allows you plug in and charge your Switch 2 while using the kickstand. Wasnt possible with Switch 1 since port was only on bottom.

The trailer was called “Nintendo Update” for the first hour so that the email links were more mysterious. And there are 24 starting points on the track for Mario Kart. This is just a “you’ve seen it anyway, so let’s dispel rumours and see you in April” trailer. And the "it's what they did before" sticks I think are showing that they're hall effect.
Since it was confirmed a lot of Nintendo Leaks were coming from the RUclips backend I feel like that title was to prevent people from seeing the announcment name early. I would suspect they will do the same with future game announcements when uploaded.

The original Switch trailer was so confident. They were sure you'd love it (despite Nintendo being in a fairly bad position at the time). This teaser that should have been very confident after Switch's success came across to me as scared. Scared of doing another "the new controller" trailer a la Wii U. But just by naming it the Nintendo Switch 2, everybody would have understood what this was. They should have spent less time making sure you understand it's a new console and more showing off why we need to buy it. Anyway, I don't think the trailer is a disaster or anything, the Switch 2 starts in such a strong place as such a sought after piece of tech. I just think it could have been better. Hopefully April brings us what we want.
@@Cream147player I totally agree. If all the leaks prior to this reveal are true---which honestly seems likely at this point given how everything including the design, logo, and name were leaked---then I really just would have liked to see more about that. 7:06 - I'm so glad you mentioned this, because that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that date! It practically guarantees more things will be spoiled before then, and now people know how accurate the previous leaks were (so they won't dismiss them anymore).
It feels like when you peaked and poked around for your gifts before Christmas: you are still excited to be able to open them, but the thrill of opening them is gone.
Surprised the new Mario Kart isn't Double Dash 2 with the 2's plastered on the console; that said the bigger size, mouse-cons, and new 'clack' sound effect have me hyped/hopeful for what we will see in April.
It looks garbage, low res textures, simplistic lighting, terrible color choices, empty environments, it looks worse than Mario Kart 8, you're just a Nintentard that will swallow every crap Nintendo does.
6:57 People thinking 2-3 months away being a long time 😂 February is a short month yall. This month is almost over. And it's at the beginning of April which is like March 33rd. Relax it'll get here quicker than u know it. (Give Nintendo time for people to digest this announcement its been like 8 years since first Switch)
Yeah Switch 1 I think was first shown in October 2016, Direct in January 2017, and released about six weeks later. Wouldn't be shocked if it's a similar time overall given when the Direct in April will be, so maybe like mid-May release.
I think what you guys may have missed is that top USB.. it can be used for peripherals while in table top mode, which was missing in the Switch 1. This would be huge for MMOs that need keyboard input.
I think the most important thing this announcement did was give us a timeline. You can say there wasn't much in this, but now we know for a fact its coming. And they gave us a date for the direct which is something to look forward to. We're getting closer, just need to hold on a little longer.
I have seen all of the leaks and tbh I’m still so excited. I love Nintendo. Even couple years ago I said I wanted another console by Nintendo to be a switch but just better power. And well I got it!!!!! I’m excited!!!
I loved the presentation they went for. Seeing the switch transforming like an anime character into the switch 2 was not what I expected, but it was so sexy ngl Definetly excited for more info related to it!!
Ohhhhh man Im so hyped. Glad I passed on most of the leak vids going around. Definitely missed all those extra starting slots in the Mario Kart start line before lol
While I’m still excited for it this reveal was awesome. I sent it to multiple people who don’t follow leaks like I did and all I’ve heard back was so it’s bigger?
I paused the youtube video and went forward or went back by one frame by pressing the period or comma keys, and I counted at most 18 drivers on one screen in the Yoshi's Diner clip. Some are saying the 24 slots at the starting line confirms 24 per race but I won't lock that in yet.
Top USB port allows for charging while in table top mode. Also makes it so that if you're doing handheld gaming you can have it plugged in without the cable and it can be rested against your body without having the USB port getting pressure from the cable pressed against your body. Also assuming both ports can do video out it means if somebody is silly enough to break their lower USB port it might allow you to do TV out from the top at the very least a broken USB port doesn't bork the system completely.
Adding a topside USB-C port was very high on my wish list for a Switch 2. (On the opposite end a Steam Deck 2 adding a bottom side port is very high there.)
I wonder if, come time for the direct, they make a big deal about revealing the C button. Like they do a little throwback to this trailer and have the c slowly carve itself into that button with some drumroll-esque music 😂
The port on top is a big deal because now you can play in handheld/tabletop mode while charging. Before you would have the charging cord pressing into your stomach via the bottom port, and you couldn't really charge at all in tabletop mode.
Yep. People are crazy thinking that the DS and 3DS games will be playable as if you're doing it Wii U style. The point of the DS and 3DS games was the mobility factor...there's a high probability that a screen accessory attachment will be sold to keep the DS/3DS library fully mobile.
@bk6555 I don't know why you couldn't just make a USBC to HDMI cable and get an effect similar to Wii-U that way. Or go wireless to your dock. 🤷 But at least a screen accessory would be cool.
All I can say is the system looks beautiful and sleek. I like that they went with the colored accents as opposed to the full color joycons. Of course, third-party colors and special editions will be fun, but the default is right where it should be. Missed opportunity to backlight those colored accents though!
Nah, gotta keep the cost of the console low and I am absolutely sure Nintendo would rather have useful technology taking up the space inside rather than useless ones.
I was waiting an entire (long) generation for a Switch with the best industrial design that would play games at their best. If this can improve framerates and/or resolution in older games, the back catalog alone is enough for me to finally pull the trigger.
hi kit and krysta, mario kart is 24 players, the starting positions have 24 slots at the starting line. donkey kong's model is based on the mario movie if you look at closely. :)
@@bk6555 if you mean DK looks like Jr, he's missing the t-shirt, but look of the rest of the characters is because they're actually using anti aliasing technology and not letting jagged polygons show through like it's still the n64 era.
USB-C is for more than charging. It's possible we'll be seeing things like a camera accessory or the like up there. The plastic around the port is molded to add some extra support there, so they clearly have ideas. But since I am not in any way involved with Nintendo outside of being a customer, I prefer not to speculate any further at this time. Still, I do know how annoying those headphone dongles are on the current system, so being able to put the dongle on top is a welcome change.
It's exactly what I expected. I like the inverted colors. Really grateful they confirmed backwards compatibility. Can't wait for the full reveal so I can get my pre-order in and put in my PTO for launch week!

It was kinda funny watching him harp on about the cord being a wrist strap and not getting that lol.
The fact that I woke up to the Switch 2 trailer! The Switch to Switch 2 was a better transition than Wii to Wii U.
One theory I have is in regards to the rumored mouse functionality, what if Mario Kart 9 has a track creator and they use it to showcase the ease of use with the mouse?
7:06 - I'm so glad you mentioned this, because that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that date!
It practically guarantees more things will be spoiled before then, and now people know how accurate the previous leaks were (so they won't dismiss them anymore).
Also, someone teach them the pause or slow down playback speed functions, haha
Mario Paint 2 is a real possibility now
It feels like when you peaked and poked around for your gifts before Christmas: you are still excited to be able to open them, but the thrill of opening them is gone.
Surprised the new Mario Kart isn't Double Dash 2 with the 2's plastered on the console; that said the bigger size, mouse-cons, and new 'clack' sound effect have me hyped/hopeful for what we will see in April.
This new Mario Kart art style looks like a combination of 8 and 64 which I will be super happy if that’s true! I love the classic 90’s Mario look
It looks garbage, low res textures, simplistic lighting, terrible color choices, empty environments, it looks worse than Mario Kart 8, you're just a Nintentard that will swallow every crap Nintendo does.
@@RuuyGwho hurt you?
@@JordanPerry-l7f I did. I took their 3DS away for misbehaving.
This is the third channel to compare the trailer to the movie Cars I think everyone's onto something here
Imma try to buy one day one! Excited!
I think what you guys may have missed is that top USB.. it can be used for peripherals while in table top mode, which was missing in the Switch 1. This would be huge for MMOs that need keyboard input.
Nintendo be like: "Here, take it! You happy now?!"
I think the most important thing this announcement did was give us a timeline. You can say there wasn't much in this, but now we know for a fact its coming. And they gave us a date for the direct which is something to look forward to. We're getting closer, just need to hold on a little longer.
Wondering how hard it will be to get this Console. I hope they don’t do a winter 2025 release.
It'll likely be a Summer Release
I have seen all of the leaks and tbh I’m still so excited. I love Nintendo. Even couple years ago I said I wanted another console by Nintendo to be a switch but just better power. And well I got it!!!!! I’m excited!!!
Kit’s judgy “I see Waluigi, UNFORTUNATELY,” had me laughing.
I loved the presentation they went for. Seeing the switch transforming like an anime character into the switch 2 was not what I expected, but it was so sexy ngl
Definetly excited for more info related to it!!
'That could be a new hook?!' - Kit
Bleak
They re showing that upper part because now you can charge it while using the standing
People who follow leaks have the same energy as kids peeking in mom's closet before Christmas😂🤟
They "Mario wondered" "Mario Kart 9" with that art style change and im all for it!
Do you guys think that Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 now is because they wanted to let third party devs announce their Switch 2 games?
An official reveal definitely kicks off a lot of other things. Third parties showing/confirming Switch 2 games will for sure be part of it
Ohhhhh man Im so hyped.
I think the C button is for "Cursor."
Yeah, they must have never played their Switch in handheld enough, haha
Adding a topside USB-C port was very high on my wish list for a Switch 2. (On the opposite end a Steam Deck 2 adding a bottom side port is very high there.)
Could also be used for accessories, if they ever want to do another camera thing again for example.
Bro I love you guys I can tell after working in Nintendo you know the most realistic way they do things and that is awesome! Switch 2 is here!
oh no Kit looks like Inside Out dad- now I can't unsee it
I wonder if, come time for the direct, they make a big deal about revealing the C button. Like they do a little throwback to this trailer and have the c slowly carve itself into that button with some drumroll-esque music 😂
The top-charging port is so you can charge comfortably in handheld/tabletop mode Kit. I was very happy to see that top-charging port.
The animation was so satisfying.
The port on top is a big deal because now you can play in handheld/tabletop mode while charging. Before you would have the charging cord pressing into your stomach via the bottom port, and you couldn't really charge at all in tabletop mode.
The texture work in the road in ML looks very detailed
Can't wait for the hands-on video in Kazakhstan
The original title was "An update from Nintendo" then a half hour later they changed the title.
I'm really hoping the extra USBC port is for more than just charging. Imagine attaching another screen to this thing. 😩
But at least a screen accessory would be cool.
It might not do AV out, but I bet it does more than charging.
Rosalina was riding a snowmobile on a paved road
All I can say is the system looks beautiful and sleek. I like that they went with the colored accents as opposed to the full color joycons. Of course, third-party colors and special editions will be fun, but the default is right where it should be. Missed opportunity to backlight those colored accents though!
Nah, gotta keep the cost of the console low and I am absolutely sure Nintendo would rather have useful technology taking up the space inside rather than useless ones.
11:40 this is a teaser nor a commercial probably it’ll be different for more traditional commercials
Peach is also for some reason on a bike in her dress with her hair down lol very interesting
I was waiting an entire (long) generation for a Switch with the best industrial design that would play games at their best. If this can improve framerates and/or resolution in older games, the back catalog alone is enough for me to finally pull the trigger.
I’d really love to see a new Nintendogs with that mouse function!🙏
Love hearing your opinions as former employee
hi kit and krysta, mario kart is 24 players, the starting positions have 24 slots at the starting line. donkey kong's model is based on the mario movie if you look at closely. :)
DK also looks like his earlier versions from the earlier MK game. The other characters kinda have that look too
@@bk6555 if you mean DK looks like Jr, he's missing the t-shirt, but look of the rest of the characters is because they're actually using anti aliasing technology and not letting jagged polygons show through like it's still the n64 era.
Can't wait for the full reveal so I can get my pre-order in and put in my PTO for launch week!
kudos to Krysta who predicted a more Apple stylish brandification
Because I’m from the U.K. I thought it said 4th of February 😂 not April 😭.
I was so dubious of the leaks so for me it was more of a relief than a surprise and I am super excited for Nintendo Switch 2!
The thing is, we know what a Switch is.
They clipped into a separate plastic piece during the mouse mode!
