I really like that these 3 are doing this with CT and we can still watch Alex being the world's oldest 5 year old on auto Alex 😁 it never felt entirely natural with Jack and Ethan, with Taylor it definitely is. I also think jack and Ethan are probably happier making these videos
its got a little bit of a Mighty Car Mods vibe to it this one, but from more of a standard car angle rather than the long time tuner/nugget scene. Great fun!
I love how much of a not-car-guy Ethan is. Bringing Jack and Edwin from behind the camera in the last few years is also an awesome change of pace, so many great CT personalities!
keep Edwin on as a third host, please CT. Always loved seeing him make appearances on camera from time to time on all the ct channels, so him now fully being on camera in this series was awesome
Not actually the seal but the sunroof drains blocked. Front two can be rodded with wire from above (they exit in front door shuts), rear two are better accessed from dropping the headlining and popping the join off, poke the shit out down in to rear wheel arches. I made the mistake of changing seal which did nothing, it's not supposed to be water tight
The sunroof seal is never water tight that's why there is sunroof drain holes these get blocked and its this that causes the sunroof to leak not the seal.
27:03 The line at the end about wanting to save cars instead of destroying them really resonates. I think during the long road trip with the £500 modified cars while Alex was still on showed this difference in philosophy, particularly when he repeatedly hit the Citroen and when he knocked the mirror off of the Focus. Glad this is the direction you guys are going.
28:06 "To see the start of a cars life instead of the end of it feels better" I'm currently rebuilding my Mk7 Golf R engine and that is the exact motivation I need to push through the stress, upsets and battle of hope. Awesome series.
It's a lot more fun watching you guys create than destroy. I thoroughly enjoyed that build series! Rescuing old cars and putting them back on the road is extremely satisfying to watch!
Edwin has been a great addition to the channel and the content now feels more natural and genuine. I love the more focused content and there being progression and a story to the cars, keep it up! I think this little GTI deserves a full restoration!
It's like you said near the end: it is the first time you fixed something instead of killing it. Thanks to Alex leaving, this channel is reaching new heights. Congrats on the best vid so far.
misha is such a damn gem haha, i love this guy! i also love that he's been working with so many different big youtube channels when it comes to the ring and as someone who has owned many mk2 vws over the years, those cars hold a very special place in my heart. my last mk2, a pirelli edition jetta coupe, saved my live in a massive car crash when a big ford edge suv ran a red light and smashed into my drivers door at 40mph. yes, i did have a broken shoulder and pelvis, but my car weighed HALF what the ford did, and she never hit the brakes at all. my poor car stopped hers. i literally owe my life to that little car, so hopefully one day i can find another coupe to build properly into a dream machine. maybe one day.
1985 I was 19, when the MK2 Golf came out it was a massive leap forward on any hot hatch that was around at that time. An absolute pleasure watching that video guys, keep them coming.
Fantastic. You have found your new niche lads. Controlled, well produced and great chemistry. The old Car Throttle is a distant memory. Well done GTI too. I owned a red mark 2 in the early 1990s. Fond memories.
Arguably the best series CarThrottle has created by a long shot! It’s been great to see Jack and Edwin get more comfortable behind the camera over the year few months, and the friendship you all have is very clear! Please bring more car restoration series👌🏼
I love how both Jack & Edwin are genuine car lovers and show so much respect for old cars. Some of the stuff with Alex made for really uncomfortable watch as the way perfectly good cars were destroyed for 'the views'. Can't wait to see more of the same from these three lads, it's a great team!
To be fair, when Alex was here they didn't have a car like the Golf, it's a genuine classic, whereas the cars they had when Alex was here were shitters that deserved to be abused.
I think this was the journey that this channel was in desperate need of. One of, if not the best series you guys have done since the start of car throttle. E30 time?? 🤷♂️
Love the content guys! Just a pet peeve of mine on these vids of your's is the syncro on all of your microphones that creates this wierd echo! just a tip to get your vids with better quality! Perhaps have the editor select the mic that's being spoken upon!
Absolutely loved the series! (I'm hoping we'd still get to see some of it), if not, i'd love to see it go to a new owner and see it getting restored! As for the channel, i think you've really peaked here. Absolutely amazing content and i'd hope to see more of the 3 lads!
Really enjoyed this series, felt natural. Top Gear comparisons are obvious with car channels, but this series is probably the first time it hasn't felt they were trying to "do" Top Gear, and funnily enough they captured the genuine matey energy of TG at it's best.
i had the priviledge of visiting wolfsburg on a work trip a few monts back, truly amazing how the city revolves around the brand, had a factory tour too, quite amazing seeing the scale of their operation, especially considering it's one of many of their factories!
I cannot say enough good things about what you guys have done with this channel. Don't get me wrong, it was great before, but this is amazing! Edwin, Jack and Ethan and the rest of the team behind the camera have really really REALLY stepped up their game. I'm sp excited to see this again with the porsche.
The new team is getting better and better accustomed to eachother, and the videos are getting better and better as a result, This was an awesome series.
By some stretch the best car throttle episode I’ve seen, the whole series has been brilliant. Well done chaps, can’t wait to see more along these lines
This was by far the best series you did and I love that your brought back a car that was otherwise destined for scrap. All you need to do now is give her exterior a bit of love with the rust and she will be tip top for many years to come.
This was the most gripping televisions I've seen since 1978. I and my aunt, Sister Eugenia generally steer clear of motor vehicle beastliness, but succumbed on this occasion. And glad we did. Mention of Belgian roads is always welcome but I must say the the Kubrickesque latent homoeroticism was slightly unnecessary. Keep up the work and remember, input shaft bearings are for life, not just for Christmas.
Brilliant series guys. Fantastic to see Ethan and Jack doing well on their own without Alex. Lovely to see a gem not only rescued but also 'go home', autobahn AND Nuremberg! 😊. Hope you consider this suggestion; since the last EVER Fiesta has rolled out of the factory (I shed a tear 😢), find a MK 1 or MK 2 Fiesta, rescue and repair that, then take it to Dagenham and a race track. I can't believe Ford are not even going to make an electric Fiesta 😢
I would too being uninitiated with someone like Misha behind the wheel! Good on Ethan for powering through regardless and it was nice to see a driver monitor his passenger's wellbeing as well.
So it probably was you after all who passed me on the A7 southbound between Göttingen and Kassel. I figured it made no sense for you to be there en route to the Nürburgring, but with the detour to Wolfsburg it all makes sense. I was in an HGV, otherwise I’d’ve given chase :-) Great channel, great project, keep it up! Big fan here.
Great series on the Golf and great to see things being rebuilt again. There's something special about getting something broken working (even if it ain't perfect), bravo!
This series was perfect for after the departure of Alex because we get to see the friendship between the 3 of them Edit: the cameraman is also chill asf
I’m so grateful to see you guys in the mk2 Just before you Took the car out for its HotLap. Thank you for the amazing opportunity to meet you guys. For a picture as well
Best Car Throttle episode I've seen so far. Oh yes, more of that!! What a character that tour guide, top notch pick. Would love a cheap car challenge where you get 3 cars and head to the ring
I went to Southbank University, London 1980 - 1982 (it was a polytechnic back then) and travelled home to Wales every weekend. Service station stops were obligatory, where I'd check the coolant and oil levels for a 150 mile trip, but thinking back to those days, I'd go 3 months, and maybe 3000 miles of local driving without breaking a sweat. I was driving a ratty Mk 1 Ford Escort 1300 estate.
Absolutely brilliant:) love the mk2 What a legend driving all that way and 2 laps of the ring wow :) you have to be so proud of yourselves guys for bringing the Gti back to life :) you have to keep the journey going and make it mint. I have restored mine and it’s great to drive around the country lines and it still goes Always puts a smile on my face. I’ve loved this series please don’t stop Vdub love
Sorry for breaking Ethan, but at least I didn't break the car😂
You didn't break him, you made him...
Watch the bug bite him, you may have made... Ethan, mkii "The Beast".
You seem like the nicest person to experience the track with
I would love to be a passenger in anything around The Ring
Wouldn’t worry Ethan has same reliability as an Alfa
loved your demeanor. ahaha
cheers from US
I think this has been the best series on Car Throttle ever.
Nice to see them doing well without Alex. I was worried it wouldn't work after him leaving. Thankfully it does.
Definitely, the best one ever. You guys have come out of the limelight and become stars.
I'm starting to think the channel is better without Alex.. He always seemed a bit self righteous!
I really like that these 3 are doing this with CT and we can still watch Alex being the world's oldest 5 year old on auto Alex 😁 it never felt entirely natural with Jack and Ethan, with Taylor it definitely is. I also think jack and Ethan are probably happier making these videos
@@robkirkham8873 I agree.. Better for both parties! 🙌

Ethan: "How many times have you been around here roughly?"
Misha: "Yes."

Certainly not just the Golf that's been revitalised, but the channel as well. Amazing content you guys have been putting out recently. Keep it up!
its got a little bit of a Mighty Car Mods vibe to it this one, but from more of a standard car angle rather than the long time tuner/nugget scene. Great fun!
they got rid of the spare wheel, he's got his own channel now.
Misha’s humour is brilliant, probably something your grandchildren will be proud of 😂
He has a great sense of humour for a German
I love how much of a not-car-guy Ethan is. Bringing Jack and Edwin from behind the camera in the last few years is also an awesome change of pace, so many great CT personalities!
Ethan looks like his 80s fit is something he would actually wear
Edwin firing shots with the Chocomel being the best.... Alex won't be happy he's a Candy'up fella....😂
It’s like a bunch of waster eggs with these digs 😂 you have to know them both to know 😂😂
I noticed that dig aswell 😂
Where the F is Alex even?

The Ford C-Max blasting at the golf while it’s doing 100 mph sums up Germany pretty well
yup, exactly.
a couple of scared tourists being tailgated by someone's mum in a MPV, on her way to get groceries from the next city.
@@CivilStig they were doing the top speed in the golf. How were they scared

Deffo the sunroof seal leaking common problem on the mk2’s but fair play to the old gal, German engineering at it best 😂
yep, anyone that owned a Mk2 with a sunroof, 1st job was to seal it shut 😅
Not actually the seal but the sunroof drains blocked. Front two can be rodded with wire from above (they exit in front door shuts), rear two are better accessed from dropping the headlining and popping the join off, poke the shit out down in to rear wheel arches.

The mk2 Golf is a car I love very dearly, grew up with it, made a lot of memories with and so on. Thank you for giving this mk2 another shot at life!
Car Throttle at it's best, great episode guys! I beleive someone's modern mini with a fortune spent on it didn't make it to the ring? Quellw shame lol
Ooooh shady!
The golf also didn't do 140mph haha. I like both channels to be honest. Different in their own ways :)
well, their golf started with an engine already blown out.
Edwin has been a great addition to the channel and the content now feels more natural and genuine.

Couldn't agree more. Alex was annoying tbh
@@BasedinReality1984he's good on his own channel, but on CarThrottle he was too arrogant
