The fact that the receiver wasn't in control of the ball and the play was dead is what made the helmet to helmet contact THAT much more noticeable. Had he caught the ball, it wouldn't have been so bad, but the fact that he was hit after the play was dead IN the helmet, the foul was called. Almost like a late hit... but the only contact was helmet to helmet.
4th quarter of the last scheduled rivalry game? If he wanted to commit a personal foul he would of... this is a disgrace to this classic rivalry and football.
That's more of a helmet to helmet hit than the one called against Texas in Austin against K State the week before this game. So if that's what all the Aggie Whining is about........um, well look closely as you can clearly see that the Aggie lowers his head and hits his helmet into the Longhorn's helmet. The call is designed to prevent injury.
Huh? Literally nobody outside of bitter aggies think about this call and that’s because they’re too stupid and blinded by their jealousy of Texas to realize it was the right call the whole time
@neoshake Didn't effect the final outcome? Seriously? There's very little chance Texas would've gotten close enough for that game-winning field goal without this call.
I hate that this penalty happened. Granted its a stupid rule and stupid penalty. But regardless Texas receiver should have caught it, and the Aggies should not have let McCoy run 25 yards to set up the kick.
Aggies aren't sore losers, after all, having bad calls and getting over it just makes character. All schools have bad calls in their games; however, the percent that one call can define a game is very rare. I don't believe refs should be allowed to work a game that where one is your alma mater. Conflict of interest, perhaps? The compassion is too hard to hold back and you will make a call that you shouldn't. Honestly, my game ended at that call and we won by 1! Gig'em First in Texas!
anyone who says that this was a legitimate penalty is insane or lying. but it also didnt cost the aggies the game. they lost it themselves, not to mention that kick woulda been good from 60+
Wasn't even a make or break call. Didn't directly affect the final outcome. Just ridiculous that anyone's even trying to make it an issue. But hey, that's the Ags.
Why do we have to attack each other's throats on here? I mean, A&M and Texas BOTH want to represent their universities as being respectful and and that they have good sportsman-ship? Yes it was a long time rivalry and an upseting loss for the Ags but I don't think we should be sore losers and I don't think Texas should be so in our faces about it. Thanks and Gig'em!
The right call was made. Even an SEC official posted on another clip of the same play that it was correct. If that's not an objective opinion I don't know what is. Ags need to stop whineing and get it done in the other 59 mins of the game and not let it come down to one penalty. Three interceptions on Ryan cause in part with that amazing Texas D in this game made all the diff. The Texas D was in Ryan's head anyone watching could see that-even ags. Let us all continue to rejoice 27-25 for years!
@itzRyanBro There was nothing that Trent Hunter could've done to avoid this contact. If you think about how much momentum each player had and the tiny amount of time between when it was clear that the receiver didn't catch the ball and when the contact occurred, it's clear Trent did his best to avoid any unnecessary contact. There's always the potential for officials to change the outcome of the game in sports. Maybe they did here, maybe they didn't. Either way, the Ags should've played better.
Several of the Aggie defenders played dirty the entire game. They played without composure and discipline. Bleep Palmer and James for crying about that call; the defender hit the receiver in the helmet when it wasn't necessary. Just a lack of poise from little brother! 27-25 and celebrating on your field...choke on that, Aggies!
@RedXlV Well then the perhaps the Ags should have stopped Case on the next play when he threw for 2 yards. Or on the next play when he threw for 7 yards. Or on the next play when he threw for 4 yards and another first down. Perhaps the Ags should have stopped Case on the play after that when he ran for 25 yards. How come the vaunted Aggie defense let a lead-footed spindly white boy run it right up the gut for 25 yards with no help at all from the referees?
Funny how many TU fans are commenting on this video. Apparently the call was controversial enough that you feel the need to come in here and try to justify it. I guess yall gotta take wins however yall can have them given to you....I'm sorry I mean get them :-/
@Texjwal Aggie is as Aggie does. The foul call was correct. The Aggie defense couldn't stop DeRuyter's grandmother, much less a spindly-assed, lead-footed white kid. And the Aggies lost fair and square and on the hallowed ground over a bunch of Collie carcasses. Sorry! Sucks to be an Ag. Scoreboard----forever! Bwahahahahahahahahah!!!!
it was bullcrap, there was absolutely no way dude could have stopped himself, he did the best he could, and you'll notice he ended up on his ass on the ground while the guy he "fouled" stayed on his feet

@mrtx09 You also forgot the horsecollar penalty on the tackle where you could clearly see A&M running back's jersey stretch
4th quarter of the last scheduled rivalry game? If he wanted to commit a personal foul he would of... this is a disgrace to this classic rivalry and football.
if he wanted to hit him, he would have really tackled him..he was in motion,,its not easy to stop that fast
That's more of a helmet to helmet hit than the one called against Texas in Austin against K State the week before this game. It was a late helmet to helmet
@Texjwal
On the other hand what if on fourth down a receiver gets open and makes it to the 23 yard line? Same result probably. You just never know.
I like watching the A&M coach freaking out.
This went down as one of the worst calls in college football history.
Huh? Literally nobody outside of bitter aggies think about this call and that’s because they’re too stupid and blinded by their jealousy of Texas to realize it was the right call the whole time
Only for idiots who don’t know the rules.
2 steps forward + he charged forward with his helmet + contact to offensive players helmet = penalty
It's not a controversial call, it's a controversial rule. Wouldn't have been a flag 5 years ago
@Rexag You lost by 2, and you think you won by 1. Is that the Aggie Math I've heard so much about?
@neoshake
Didn't effect the final outcome? Seriously? There's very little chance Texas would've gotten close enough for that game-winning field goal without this call.

Sucks that this call helped texass win... but it was a good call,,, he led with his helmet, you can't do that.
anyone who says that this was a legitimate penalty is insane or lying. but it also didnt cost the aggies the game. they lost it themselves, not to mention that kick woulda been good from 60+

@BobjumpA
God forbid that occurs in football...
Well it's a helmet to helmet no matter how you slice it.
Why do we have to attack each other's throats on here? I mean, A&M and Texas BOTH want to represent their universities as being respectful and and that they have good sportsman-ship? That call didn't cause Texas to win but Tannahill's 3 pics did so ha ha ha aggs we still beat y'all. HOOK'EM HORNS
No more controversial than the BS horsecollar personal foul they gave Kenny Vaccaro that helped ATM score a few plays later on.
We
Nothing controversial in that clip, unlike the phantom horsecollar earlier in the game.
Funny how many TU fans are commenting on this video. Apparently the call was controversial enough that you feel the need to come in here and try to justify it. I guess yall gotta take wins however yall can have them given to you....I'm sorry I mean get them :-/
Well officials have a tendency to throw flags on this type of contact. I know Texas has had some go against them which was costly.
Hey ATMers, it's over. Be gone.

@RedXlV But please continue to cling to your "We Wuz Robbed!" conspiracy theories. It's a joy to watch. Seriously. LMAO!!!!
Ha ha, Aggies deserve the loss !
you will NEVER forget your loss hahahahahahahahahaha
head on head it looks like to me....
wha????
The call was correct.
