    I’ll never forget the day I moved to Texas. My cousin who lived here in spring Tx all his life introduced me to him. They were still in high school and my cousin told me as he introduced me to Beckett “This guy is going to the majors”. In my mind I was like hmmmm ok cool. And sure enough he did and had a successful career. I’ll never forget that day 7/4/1998. Crazy stuff

      @breadandcircuses8127 it's pretty self explanatory, at least to me it is...

    This guy was absolutely nasty. As a Rays fan in 07 -09 I probably watched 9 out of every 10 TB vs Boston games and not to take anything away from him but I’ll be damned if that guy did not get the most favorable calls from blues that I’ve ever witnessed. Seems like every inning he’d get a strike call six inches off the plate like at 8:21

    Right next to Curt Schilling's Bloody Sock Game in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS, Red Sox Nation will never forget Josh Beckett's clutch win in Game 5 of the 2007 ALCS that sent the series back to Boston down 3-1 at the time.

      In 2007, Josh Beckett was Our Ace! I'm still bummed over the fact that C.C. Sabathia won The Cy Young Award that year, even though Beckett was Baseball's only 20 Game Winner.
      Who was The Losing Pitcher in Beckett's Clutch Game 5 Performance in the 2007 ALCS? C.C. Sabathia. That "Cy Young Award Winner" was 0-2 against Beckett in that ALCS. Give me your honest opinion. Who do you really believe should have won The 2007 A.L. Cy Young Award?

      Mike Youngblood
      He had his reasons. I’m quite sure that Red Sox will never forget about him, not only for 2007, but also on how he Dominated the Yankees during his time in Boston.
      In fact, believe it or not, Josh Beckett actually tied a Yankees Record for most wins against the Yankees in one season.

    I loved hearing in various interviews that he used to drive a monster truck out of Hadlock field during his minor league days just to get away from the media and reporters... he clearly had his own ways of living life but I can respect his skill on the field and off.

    For as great as he was, his career could have been better. In the past 10 years hes probably the one pitcher id give the ball to in a must win situation. Big game pitcher.

    • @simonboccanegra3811
      @simonboccanegra3811 7 лет назад +2

      Absolutely, nwo4life. This was a very good career from someone who had the tools to be one of the all-time greats. He had the stuff; he had the mental toughness; he had the mound presence. There were some attitude factors, and all those DL stays betrayed a haphazard approach to conditioning. Still, I always rooted for him, because when he was on, he was electrifying. No one was happier than I when he got that no-hitter in his final season, even though he was long gone from Boston. It says something that he achieved so much while being in his own way a lot of the time.
