After trying many times, my neo geo was not recognized by computer. Watch again and again this video and other video, find out why. Neo geo mini oem cable was not for data transmission, it is only providing power. Find another usb C cable and instantly solved the connection issue.
Use a external usb for more image games . This way when you have the usb plug in you will see the options for more game. Then when you don’t have the external usb plug in , you will have only the stock games that the neo-geo mini came with

For anyone having the same problem I was having: You install the drivers but the Actions Software (mainapp.exe) wont recognize your neo geo mini I came up with a solution 1. Goto the 1.05.02 Folder and delete Usb.ini 2. Open the Actions Software (mainapp.exe) and when it asks you for the firmware you want to use point it to linux_gl5201_vlc_v6_rgb.fw in the Burning file directory.You should see that it deleted the numbers on the left side 1-13. 3. Close the Actions Software (mainapp.exe) 4. Power on the Neo-Geo Mini as Instructed in the video. (pressing that little black button on the bottom and power) 5. Open the Actions Software (mainapp.exe) if everything worked correctly you will notice it say "1s Ready" on the left. 6. Press the green Down button on in the Actions Software (mainapp.exe) as instructed in the video. It took me 6min 33sec for the entire operation to complete. I hope this helped because it was driving me crazy. ENJOY!

Mine took around 30 seconds, which seems odd because @Joseph Rhodes said it took him 6:30 to finish. I probably just get a partial flash or my mini is bricked (I hope it's not the latter).
@@serige the firmware flash took around 4 mns and afterwards it was just as I said to take out the cables etc. Probably something went wrong during the flash, your neo geo is working as before now or still black screen? Try to reflash or reinstall first the original firmware with I believe the repair reinstall function

How is the hdmi playback on a 16:9 tv with the enulators and added roms? Are there any filters? Is it forced into 16:9 and stretched or are there options to force it to 4:3? This is super important to know. Someone please chime in and confirm this.

Im really blown away by the lack of support on it. Like good or bad systems, they usually get hacked. Actually the bad ones usually get more support and this isn't really bad I don't reckon but it got bad reviews so yeh I don't get it. Thanks Chris - I have hacked my unit. The problem is the joystick is now going crazy (moving in all sorts of direction on its own) and the game is unplayable. Not sure if the new firmware has issues and there is a fix to it or I need to somehow factory reset it. Any help?

I've tried this on 3 separate computers (two on Windows 10, one on Windows 7) and none of them recognize the mini when plugged in or even indicate that anything has been plugged in, so I can't install the device driver. I've carefully followed your method of powering the system, connecting to the PC, and turning the system on. And I've separately already verified that my player 2 port works, so that's not the problem.
Good video! But it looks like people need to take into consideration that all the games will pretty much be in Japanese. Even if you chose "English" in the options menu, these emulators you're adding are all Japanese, and that might be a deal killer for some.

I'm sure you're great software engineers, but haven't the first clue about hardware (the absurdest part was when three of you tried dumping again and again the nand in the same way, with the same errors: did your really expect anything different?). Hello and thank you for the great work, however one small issue I noticed is that the sound quality for most of the snes games is pretty bad and makes super Mario world almost unplayable as well as mortal kombat 2. Is there any patch or solution to this?
When you do the hack, you will revert the firmware to Japanese which by default enables the Bloodshed rather than the "synthetic white blood from the Alien films"
@Karim yes. thing is that judging from how different the UI is in terms of visual details, the Japanese firmware is the first version of the NG Mini, with the International being 2.0 and the Christmas Limited Edition being 3.0
Does this hack put the Asian collection of the NeoGeo-games on the system ? In the Vendor-file i didn't see all the Metal Slug games, no Shock Troopers, all the KOF games, and Top Hunter (not an international game)

one thing you did not go over in the video I'm going to look into it more myself but I have not found out a way to add my own personal games yet is there a way that you know of to do that
@@LifeIsGay1 I haven't tested it out yet but I installed it and apparently there seems to be a section that's marked USB and I'm guessing you can play your own games that way I don't know yet if you can copy it to it I'm still copying my games to my USB but I'm pretty sure you can't copy and but I think you can play it off that I'm not really sure how much internal memory this thing has in it and there doesn't seem to be any way to really find out as far as I know which is probably why you have to use a USB to play your own games. but I'll test it out in a second and I'll let you know that's how it works but I'm pretty sure that's it
@@LifeIsGay1 one thing just to point out that did not get mentioned in the video the cable that it comes with from what I can tell is power cable only it doesn't seem to transfer data cuz I tried using it for that reason and it didn't work it works fine for power but when it came to the data I had to use a different cable for that one. so if you don't have any USB c cables laying around or at the very least adapters then you may have to get one first before you can really hack the thing.

Please look more carefully on RUclips for a guy using a usb external Sd card or external storage and he will have the links to download the software on usb. That’s the one you want. Then go on eBay and purchase the controller adapter that works on the neo-geo mini , it will be the pro version and then purchase a type c to usb white cable and then a mini hdmi to hdmi cable with return sound - ( very important). and a 64 gb micro sd card and also a 90 degree right angle usb c (OTG) type c adapter to plug into the left side type c opening of the new-geo mini. Please cross check with Amazon for pricing and any other information you might need for your setup.

@@serige you take out all cables, and restart the neo geo , go to the configuration, chose english and that's it !

Yes, on two player games you can use two controllers. I have not tried on Japanese but do not see why it wouldn't.
Yes it works on Japanese mini as that's what I own (the firmware you flash is actually the japan version)
