I loved how Shelley Long could change the tone, pitch and inflection of her voice. Her timing was impeccable. Not sure, but it looked for a minute like she bit her lower lip to keep from laughing. Ted Danson also looked like he was on the verge of losing it. I truly hate to see good food wasted, but in this one instance, I didn't mind-it really fed our need for an all-out belly laugh. Boy, the actors really had to commit to this scene!
One of the greatest scenes in television history. Such good writing of characters that the writers knew how to work with, with a cast who knew how to work with their own chemistry. And not to mention timing of that throw at Diane.
Diane's pretentious toast was awesome as well: "I guess I need to give you an indication of what I had in mind. Now I, too, am very thankful for my health and for my dear friends. But on this very special occasion, my mind goes back over the years to the people who have influenced me. And I would like to name some of them for you: Teilhard Chardin, George Sand, Caravaggio. Oh, Emily Dickenson. The Buddha! Frank Lloyd Wright, Jean d'Arc, Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop."
Love this scene! The cast didn't do the food fight during rehearsals; they used pieces of paper. They only used the food when they started filming in front of an audience.
@@GoogleIsAPieceOfShit2023 thank you for that dazzling critique there Karen. sure glad we can always count on at least one dumbass that willfully clicks on a video of a show they don't like to start with, just to spread their "special" brand of humanity and goodwill. you're one of them top shelf idiots ain't ya princess.
This episode was one of my favorites. Laughed so hard. I never really watched this show when it was airing but now I'm catching up on Netflix. I sure missed out.
You know, Frasiers remark about being scorned by loved ones for Thanksgiving makes sense with hindsight, I mean, at the time, Frasiers mother just died, his brother married Maris, who he thought was manipulative, and he and his father had a distant relationship.
OMG!!! Looks like Thanksgiving to me!! Just shared with my friends on FB, hope they can relate to it as much as I can! hahahah! Great show. Thanks for posting. Wish I could see the whole episode somewhere though.
Amazon has it new for 10...used almost everywhere else for 5. I'll tell you what...you buy the DVD and watch this one episode...I'll buy the rest off of you for half the price and call it even. Sheesh
+Anything4adollar There was NO REASON to name call in your first post was there? You must be very immature, you have no photo, you have no NAME, sounds a little cowardly to come onto a site and name call somebody you dont even know, hiding behind a moniker and no photo!!!
Linda McDonald being a cheapskate may be a little rough...but accurate in most eyes. As for the photo...on a Public Forum, probably not the wisest of things to do this day and age of spammers, hacks and stalkers. Call me morbid, call me pale...i call me cautious...
We can only imagine Vera's appearance by checking Rebecca Soladay's pictures but that's not real Vera. Just an actress who played her role. The real Vera's face is still unknown.
Agree! Great example of how an actor must interpret the words on the paper. This is why the show will live on in perpetuity It's not just what they say, but how they say it.
Great scene but a giant suspension of disbelief needed to accept a Thanksgiving dinner attended by the staff of a bar and three of its regular patrons. No family, no friends, no anybody else. I suppose the viewers wanted it that way but the way this bunch of people stuck together seemed very silly sometimes.
I've had orphan holidays several times in my life with co-workers and friends. It's not all that unheard of in jobs like retail and food service, when you typically don't get time off to visit family.
I vividly remember when this episode aired. It was so strange to see the gang somewhere other than the bar. However, Diane had really worn out her welcome by this point in the series. She barges in, tries to get everyone to do everything her way, doesn't want them to watch sports because it's not a "Thanksgiving tradition" (which it actually is in modern times), and won't let anyone eat the food they brought until the turkey is on the table. She didn't even bring anything to the dinner so really had no say in anything. She's even micromanaging things people are thankful for which is beyond ridiculous. And her voice when she screamed at them to stop throwing food sounded like a mother whose child had been murdered. Who would react that way to a little foodfight? She really was a boring drip. Best part was when they threw cranberries at her. Priceless. I never really bought her presence in the show because she's really just an unpleasant, unhappy woman who treats everyone like crap but somehow they accept her because she pretends to care about them so she can try to solve their problems her way. I always found her insincere. I'm counting down the episodes until she skedaddles and Rebecca comes in.The fifth season is by far the worst for Diane as the writers didn't know what to do with her anymore so just made her more of a nag, less funny, and more snobby.
Shelley Long was becoming more distant towards the rest of the cast. She saw herself as a more serious actress rather than accept the success of the show. Fitting scene because anyone could have thrown something at her during this time
This cast was seriously stacked.
One of the most classic of the classic Cheers episodes.
The look on Frasiers face when he get nailed with the yam is priceless
Leave it to Diane to be in character for every holiday! Lol 😉

hysterical then and it still is. back when TV didn't suck.
Diane was always great when she'd lower herself to their level.
...the Pilgrim outfit says it all. Diane was the quintessential "fish out of water" story. This time she "dove right in!"
I always loved this episode. It wasnt about sam and dianes denial love fest. It was about the whole cast. One of my favorite episodes of any tv shows.
Shows even good friends fight at thanksgiving
“Cheers” and “WKRP in Cincinnati” had the best Thanksgiving episodes.
One of the greatest scenes in television history. Such good writing of characters that the writers knew how to work with, with a cast who knew how to work with their own chemistry. And not to mention timing of that throw at Diane.
One of the funniest tv episodes ever.
It ranks up there with the WKRP "flying" turkey episode.
One of the best episodes how fun it would be to do that
the little pop thing is called a THERMOMETER CAN WE ALL SAY THERMOMETER !THERMOMETER!
This episode and the WKRP turkey drop episode are among the two funniest moments in T.V. history.
seen this so many times... and only now did I notice one of the walls on the set shaking during the food fight
This is right up there with the turkey drop on WKRP jaws hurt when your done watching
The classic of all sitcom classics.

wlhardy Befitting- of the ridiculousness of this entire show.

I loooove it food fights.😂😂😂greatest scene ever.
2:33 Well that's just about the best delivery of a line I've ever heard lol
Always thought Shelley was much funnier than Kirstie.
So agree, Lubbylove. Diane usually had that uppity song-songy voice. To hear her drop to another register in an out-of-control screech just broke me.
This scene is hilarious! This must have been so funny for them to film. Ted almost fell at the end too the floor must have been so slippery haha.
Have to give credit to the audience here. Centuries from now, people will be able to hear how beloved these characters were.
You left out their nice little tribute to Coach at the end.
I like how Cliff flings the spoonful of food at Frasier.
Frasier's reaction was priceless !!
Did you see Woody start laughing? He was the only one to break character.
@@dscott351I saw that. Malone and Frasier started laughing, after Malone threw food at Diane, after she is wanting to end the clash.
Wow, forgot how hilarious this scene was, laughed so hard it hurt, love it, have to get the whole series one of these days.
This episode was one of my favorites. Laughed so hard. I never really watched this show when it was airing but now I'm catching up on Netflix. I sure missed out.
What’s another one of your favorites
No way Frasier would hang out with thse people in Seattle.
to be fair, it's apparent that every person in seattle is in bad need of a psychiatrist.
Now that was special 😆
Vera Pattinson....
The Mrs Wallowitz before Mrs Wallowitz.
Such a memorable Thanksgiving for everyone of them. Much more than a regular Thanksgiving dinner with a cooked turkey.
This was the best tv show!
As well as Frazier!! The brilliant writing👍 The lovable characters👍👍
And the electric chemistry 👍👍👍
My favorite thing about this scene: THE UNBELIEVABLE ADORABLENESS OF WOODY BOYD!!❤️😘😍
Glad our thanksgiving wasn't that bad! Close!
one of the best episodes. too bad this clip ends just before the fantastic finale.
the last second I heard Good Bird and that made the whole scene perfect.
take a close look,,,when the yams hit fraser, Norm And Woody are holding back their laughter,,,,,,,,,,...this scene makes me cry, in laughter.
Look at Kelsey Grammer eyes. He was in for kill
Ha,ha,ha good one, I wonder how I missed that episode!
This how is your deal with egos and how u keep a cast happy and keep making great shows
looks like they had fun with that show lol
That was better than any Three Stooges pie throwing fight!...
THERMOMETER
birdzilla? holy shit, thats hilarious!
You know, Frasiers remark about being scorned by loved ones for Thanksgiving makes sense with hindsight, I mean, at the time, Frasiers mother just died, his brother married Maris, who he thought was manipulative, and he and his father had a distant relationship.
birdzilla
Love how Frasier says nice bird George instead of Norm! Ha
Happy thanksgiving to you all
Lol! For how they spokeo to one another and then having a food fight.
This is the episode where we finally see Vera!...kind of lol
Its his actual real life wife too though. Little known fact
Thanks for the upload..!!..This aired 30 years this month on NBC..We ALMOST meet VERA in this one..!!..XD
The clip ended too soon. Someone wanted more potatoes and Sam scooped some off of Norms head. That was hilarious!
The best, ever!
Food Fight!!!!!!
Turkeys usually take between 4 to 6 hours to cook. Obviously Norm didn't take that into consideration.
Best food fight scene of all time?
Thermometer!
Omg I peed LMAO
Supreme quality!
"PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE. LISTEN TO ME I'M YELLING? My interpretation anyhow.
Pretty sure she ended by saying, "Stop this immediately!"
Birdzilla :))
They cut out the ending. They only did this scene once and they weren't acting slipping around. LOL
Classic!!
OMG!!! Looks like Thanksgiving to me!! Just shared with my friends on FB, hope they can relate to it as much as I can! hahahah! Great show. Thanks for posting. Wish I could see the whole episode somewhere though.
+Linda McDonald buy Season 5 on DVD... cheapskate
+Anything4adollar Wow, pretty rude! Why would I want to throw away $20 to watch one episode, Stupid?

Back in the good days !
❤Diane❤
Detested Carla's verbal abuse of Diane and Cliff...
We can only imagine Vera's appearance by checking Rebecca Soladay's pictures but that's not real Vera. Just an actress who played her role. The real Vera's face is still unknown.
So funny
lol yeah lets go sit at the table and wait for the turkey thats still white. Only 3 hours to go. And Norm goes to check out the turey every 30 minutes
I wanted te see Vera. 😭
are any other British viewers of this video kind of expecting Delboy and Rodney trotter to appear in the scene any minute, or is it just me?
My favorite scene ever I think 😂😂😂😂😂😂
wow, Meister Brau beer, haven't seen that in ages
frazier drining meitster brau beer. In the 80's you could by a case of meister brau for 7 dollars.
Cliff had his plate as a shield, for once Clavin would have came out on top, no thanks to Diane...
Evening Everybody.
NORM!
Hey Mr Peterson.
Norman?
So what'll it be, Mr. Peterson?
You know Norm, it's a little known fact that the traditional Thanksgiving meal wasn't turkey, it was duck
Meister Brau!
Funny show
02:32 Funniest Part

And you also left out the scene where Diane throws a pie at Vera’s face
Lol😊
Now that was GROSS!!!!
I've never understood a food fight. Too much to clean up.
George Lopez references this episode when George Wendt appears for Thanksgiving in Colorado for "Trouble in Paradise".
Un funny George Lopez...ok
Need an 18 pack!
is this the wonder years house?
Looks NOTHING like the Wonder Years house.
