Love the video! Super informative! I wanted to add a tip or "ingredient" to your already amazing list. Basic kitchen sponges (the ones without the scrubber side) are really great for cake slices. You can cut them into whatever shape and they work perfect for a regular triangle slice of cake. They sell cheap off brand ones at the dollar tree. They come in different bright colors, usually 4 in a pack, sometimes more. I think the ones I have are like pink, green, and orange. You can paint them to look like whatever flavor, but I like leaving them the bright colors and making like a rainbow layered cake slice.
Thank youuuu! I want to make stuff for myself but materials can be expensive especially if i mess stuff up and just waste supplies and I dont know where to start with supplies. This is so helpful and your stuff is sooo pretty! ❤❤❤
Thanks Cassie! This is a great video. I wish I had seen it when started. I love your videos. I have learned a lot from them. Keep up the great work and thanks very much for your tutorials! ❤
Hi!! Super interested in this skill and thank you for this informative tutorial!! I'm interested in doing this for a big school project and would really love to know for people lacking experience like me, would it be possible to create a food gallery with international dishes. Would be really greatful if you can share some tutorials for full dishes like ramen, or steak... Thank you so much for being one of the few channels out there sharing this incredibly helpful video 😍😍🙏
Thank you for sharing this! I am making some fake cakes for my daughter’s birthday party, and I was really overwhelmed until I watched your video. Kudos!!
I absolutely love your videos, I’ve learned so much from you! Thank you so much-but where are you? You mentioned moving but you’ve not returned-hope all is well?!
Amazingly informative. Everyone should watch this first that is just beginning. It would help so much in the mistake process. Thank you for your helping me learn more.
i've been fake baking for 2 years before I discovered I'm not the only one who does this!! I've created my own methods using foil and plaster cloth, so can't wait to experiment with caulk, spackling, joint compound and all your other ideas. I havve 2 questions 1.) Are any of these products toxic? Gap fill foam? 2. I can't make powdered sugar. I gloss seal everything and the gloss sprays make the powdered sugar [baby powder] imvisible. Thank you!!
Yes, some of the products are toxic. For powdered sugar I use joint compound powder, but you can't put sealer over it. You have to just let it be powdery like real powdered sugar would be. I used baby powder in the past but it doesn't stay on no matter what adhesive I use. Joint compound works better for me.
Thanks so much! I am so thrilled you popped up on You Tube! I make fake deserts, pancakes, bread, etc...QUESTION: I was wondering if you can use Plaster of Paris ( I think that's how to spell it) in making my ice cream thicker? Thanks
Wow… thank you so much for all your knowledge of fakebaking. I am new to this hobby and love it!!! Your videos are easy to follow and and end product is so realistic. Look forward to all your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Good morning , I made fake fruit small tarts with polimer clay and fake fruit, what can I use to make them look shiny please? I love your videos thank you
Hey Cassie, with the spackle how long does it take to fully dry and how should it feel once it is? Does it dry rock hard or squishy? Does it have some flex to it? How hard wearing is it? I couldn’t find this info in your other vids but might have missed it. Thankyou!
It will dry hard. The thinner edges will feel a little flexible but if there's any squishy feeling, it's not fully dry. It's hard to give a time because it will vary depending how thick it is and weather can affect drying time. For a mug topper, probably a few days to fully dry.
@@CassieSmallwood Thankyou Cassie that’s a big help. I’ve made a lot of test pieces to work out drying time etc. the spackle I’m using says it’s also for exterior use, do you know if that means it will have some weatherproofing? I’m in the UK so can’t get the DAP annoyingly.
Not a dumb question at all. I don't think you'll get the same results with joint compound because it's not as fluffy as lightweight spackling, but you can give it a go and see. Don't be afraid to try. That's how I figure out some of my best things!
That will depend on what you're making and what products you're using. Foam clay is made for kids, so that will be safe. Some of the other products may be toxic so you'll need to check the ingredients.
I'm not sure what brands are sold in the UK but it's epoxy resin that is used for things like syrup and if you're making a drink in a large glass you'll want deep pour resin. You should be able to find both on Amazon.
From what I've seen, the people making fake food purses purchase a plain purse and decorate it. I don't know if you could make something hollow with clay that would hold up to the use that a purse gets.
@@Beary_stitchy I hadn't heard of them, but just looked it up. If you want to make the foam clay hollow, you could put tissue paper inside or paper towels to hold the foam clay apart until it dries. It's kind of weird that none of the photos on that site show the opening for the purse. I would want to see that before I purchased. I'd love to see yours if you make one!
I put out skeleton scenes each year and this year I'm doing a "Waffle House" scene! My sisters (and LOTS of family ) LOVE the Waffle House. So I researched fake eggs and bacon and came across your site on RUclips. I'm hooked. Our guests at the Waffle House will be having eggs, bacon and waffles! I hope my mine turn out as good as yours!! Thanks so much for all your tutorials!

Hello i know this may sound like a dumb question but can u use lightweight compound for fake bakes instead of spackle

Hi! How can I color silicone without the alcohol color?? Thanks!
You can use food coloring
If I want to make this for a child's play kitchen are they safe, non toxic and durable?
That will depend on what you're making and what products you're using. Foam clay is made for kids, so that will be safe. Some of the other products may be toxic so you'll need to check the ingredients.
Hi what is the resin called please to buy in the uk?
I'm not sure what brands are sold in the UK but it's epoxy resin that is used for things like syrup and if you're making a drink in a large glass you'll want deep pour resin. You should be able to find both on Amazon.
How would you go about making it hollow to make fake bake into a purse
From what I've seen, the people making fake food purses purchase a plain purse and decorate it. I don't know if you could make something hollow with clay that would hold up to the use that a purse gets.
@CassieSmallwood have you seen Rommydebommy purses theyre great

Would you use air clay or the foam clay to make a slice of cheesecake?
I think foam clay, but I'd have to try it to know 100% for sure. This has been on my to do list for ages. I'm going to make a video soon.
