As an American, this yet one of the many pieces of music that represents our brotherhood. Another example could be the Navy Hymn, the same one as yours is what we can call ours. God bless both of our great nations. God save the king!
Don't know how some people can not be proud of these lads. Absolutely fantastic performance 🇬🇧
Briliant display of precision marching and musical professionalism. Per Mare Per Terram. Semper Fi.
The snare drums at the front line are very elegant, much more than the trombones. Excellent performance👍👍👍
That was just super to watch and listen to, what a wonderful musical march, so may variations. The band looks so good its wonderful we have them to play for us. Good on you.😀
The snare players are extremely entertaining to watch
In high school band we marched to this! You can walk to it almost effortlessly
I always loved the part of this song starting from around the 2:05 mark. Not only is it very stirring it's also used in every ,Marine Corps boot camp graduation ceremony. This part of the song is played during the part of the graduation ceremony when the drill instructors march up to receive the guidons from the lead recruit of each platoon.
A British band playing an American march composed by an American composer that contains a segment of the American national anthem
Lekker geniet dit ❤
The Brit’s do this very well but I wanna hear the Germans play this, their band is outstanding
the noses of those poor percussionists...
It is so wonderful to hear that classic American march played so well.
This is an English march, from the Army of Her Majesty, the Queen who is now King.
@@Victormn-po4dn Sorry mate. This was written by an American and is adopted by US forces.
@@Victormn-po4dn No, this is an American march, being played by the Royal Marines.
That's the difference between American style marching show bands and British military marching bands.
American bands would be ripping through it as fast as they can, and you'd lose the percussion under the volume of the instruments. This is at a standard march tempo, comfortable, crisp, and balanced.
I do get a kick out of watching the royal marines play the second most American march ever, though
Thank you HM Royal Marines. I performed this many times, but never quite so well, and never marching. Those silver French Horns are gorgeous!
I as an American of near 80 years of age have spent my lifetime either playing in or studying marching bands and as good as the US Marine Cherry Point Band is, this is the world's most impressive military marching band. (consistently) Playing this march number gives me hair raising chills as they break into the bass dominate portion of the number.
HOW NICE YOU ARE THAN K YOU
Totally agree. I'm your age and this is the best.
As a former US Marine I wholeheartedly support my brother Marines across the pond. Well done!
Not A former, but a veteran brother.. once a marine ALWAYS A MARINE!! Semper Fi
Never a former Marine! Once a marine, always a marine. Semper Fi, brother!
Thank you for your service!
If you look closely, some of the musicians are sisters.
No such thing as a former Marine. Thank you for your service!
Flawless performance HM Royal Marines! My favourite American march. First heard in a hangar at Andrews AFB in 1966 during the US Marine and Navy Air Reserve passing out parade in which our regiment's pipe band had been invited to participate It still sends chills down the spine - especially when the low brass take over circa 2:05)
As an American and after over 30 years of exposure to National Emblem March, this is by far the best total performance of the song I have seen of it. Bravo Zulu to the Bands of HM Royal Marines!
Je suis française. C' est un pur bonheur pour les oreilles et les yeux.
Je les accompagne en chantant.
Merci et encore, svp, pour la beauté!.
"The National Emblem" is The Greatest Non-Sousa march.
^
I believe Sousa said the same thing.
Although we achieved independence from you brits, I gotta say, I hope my brethren across the pond are doing well.
As an American, I have always believed THIS should be our true National Anthem. No singing, just a beautiful march that captures the spirit and essence of the American Spirit.
We say the same about Jerusalem in England. God save the king should be reserved for uk only occasions.
@@guywilloughby3383 ? You completely misunderstood what I wrote, LOL. This piece, as a musical work, should be the true National Anthem of the United States, not the Star Spangled Banner. May of us Americans feel this way (it's the source of repeated comment that the SSB is too hard to sing also). Not sure what Jerusalem has to do with any of this, unless....unless you meant something else (having misunderstood my comment). Too funny🤣
@@eriklottben-salomon1867 Jerusalem is a hym that is the unofficial anthem of England, it is sung at rugby matches ect. My point was that the national anthem of England is God save the king, but we English prefer Jerusalem. And God save the king should be reserved for when the king is present or when it's a uk event, like the Olympics.
@@guywilloughby3383 ok.
It would be too long to play at football games
Bagley can rest in peace knowing that SOMEONE can play THIS well ! It only needs the cymbals to be LOUDER, and at a few strategic points ! WELL DONE. WELL DONE!!
It's the European military band style. It's more balanced and crisp, and the tempo is more comfortable... but you wouldn't know it because the articulation makes it feel faster.
...also the instrumentation. A lot more snares, tubas, tenor horns, baritone horns, French horns, no sousaphones, no bell-forward horns, the sound is projected differently too.
The whole band is constructed completely different than what Americans typically do, and it's played in a different style
How it should be played.
One of my favorite marches played by the best band in England.
In the world
Can't imagine anyone playing this better. Stellar performance. Greetings from Norway.
I loved playing National Emblem as an Australian army musician during the Vietnam war.
2:04 when the Trio Emblem (Parade the Colors!) plays i always get chills
Very nice! The counter marching was done very well. Hats off to the bone players when they did their turns.
Seeing and hearing the superb UK military bands playing this tune always gives me the chills.
Bravo! Very fine rendition of one of the best marches. Are American marches the most common ones to be played, even in the UK? I can’t say I know any European marches.
1st question .. no .. we play our own marches .. but, play a lot of European marches .. of which a lot of the guards Regimental marches are from very well know European composers… I suggest you watch Trooping the Colour … it has a lot of f “European” marches
Masters ! Masters ! Masters !
The best band in the world !
Your chaps nailed it! Well done. Where is the venue here?
Congratulations marines HM Britânica
HMS Britannica
Good music knows no nationality.
That was incredible!
Oh my Zeus! The bass players are using concert tubas while marching!!!! Has the sousaphone not made it across the pond yet?? They were specifically invented for marching!! Concert tubas are extremely awkward to hold, march and play at the same time.
(also, I had no idea the Brits enjoyed National Emblem. Pip-pip cheerio and Happy Independence Day, oh, whoops. Too soon?)
The helmets they wear wouldn't allow the
use of Sousaphones.
@@adrianwilson7193 The bell of the sousaphone is adjustable to accommodate any headgear issues. There are also different models that vary the placement of the bell. They could use sousaphones if they so chose.
Outstanding.👍👍
I love the uniforms of HM Royal Marines. Emulating our US Marines. Impressive. I don't know if you guys have the same motto as our Marines, but Semper Fi from across the pond.
Actually, we emulated them. The RMs existed before the USMC.. Semper Fi
Except for the fact that our Marines don't use the Custodian "Bobby" helmets.
And they are not called Bobby helmets, those are worn by some of the Police in the UK, hence the nickname Bobbies, those white helmets are called Pith helmets or Wolseley pattern helmet.
'Per Mare, Per Terram' is the motto.
@@Martin_L478Pith helmets mate.
The "trio" section (so labeled in some scores), which begins with a very low note and slowed tempo, suggests to me that the composer was conveying the menacing strength of an imperial power. The melody soon brightens up. The Royal Marines do this very well and I like the drummers' moves. I'd say, though, that the US Marines play it better. Anyway, the Brits do like American marches. The only time I watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace (1987), I realized that the guards marching in from St. James' Palace were playing Sousa's Liberty Bell March, already well known as the Monty Python theme!.
👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
The best of the best doing what they do best.
Well played Bootnecks 👏👏
Very happy memories of hearing this played by the Royal Marines in the 70s. We lived just up the road (200 yards) from the drill field in Walmer (Deal, Kent) so were treated to free concerts regularly!
British marching and parade and those music are particularly wonderful !!
Magnificent
Look forward to 2022 when hopefully the massed bands will re appear.
When you hear a star spangled banner lyrics in it :Yep that’s why they have McDonalds
BRILLIANT marching and music.the very best
Oh, the monkey wrapped his tail around the flag pole!!
So many of us forget that we are cousins! One big family!
Well done
❤👍
I’m playing this as a MPA piece and it is absolutely amazing
I enjoyed this but still found it a bit odd hearing the Royal Marines play an American March, would have loved to hear this rendition on bagpipes
Sorry, but the National Emblem was written for a marching brass band. As much as I love the pipes, this march needs those Sousaphones/tubas and their deep bass tones. The pipes can't duplicate those sounds. As a US Marine, this was one of my favorite songs to march along with. Having said this, the RM and other British military bands play a lot of British and other foreign composers works that are great too. At risk of being called a traitor, I also think the RM Bands are the best military marching bands in the world, bar none. Seen them live here in the States (and Canada) about ten times over my life.
Thanks for the Beautiful Music.
Its piękne its beautyful ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I performed this march many times in several US Air Force bands. I enjoyed it and crowds responded well.
Excellent music and its implementation ❤ !!
Bet the Americans wish their marines could play it like this.
Us marines can do this and without wearing ridiculous animals furs that an old woman wears
