Hands down Ken Smith is the original boutique bass inovator. The craftsmanship, tone, feel, sound articulation and character is the platform for all the boutique bass builders that came after Ken Smith...
Fun podcast, gentlemen. I enjoy geeking out over basses, but the roving conversation about hair loss, Thundercats, and video game music is fun. The chemistry is fun to listen to and the experiences your share are interesting. Keep up the good stuff!
Ahh dudes, should be entitled - Baldy Bass Players 🤣🤣 You guys could talk for an hour about bin liners and it'd be entertaining. Brilliant. I guess you spoke about new basses for at least 5 mins.... Unfortunately I find my facility fading these days and the bad news is - I'm the same age as you guys :( More down to joint pain but I'm soldering through. Love the podcast guys - please keep It up
Loving the podcasts guys. How about covering your bass playing before getting any knowledge of jazz, and what then turned you onto learning more about Jazz?
Thundercat and Mono have the highest profiles, those two in particular really maximized on the earlier days of social media/ RUclips. They figured out the no F's given, HIGH VISIBILITY/ POP OUT/ STAND OUT aspect right early on and they have buckets of raw talent/ Chops to back it all up, of course. We know there are so many GREAT players, our generation (40's) and younger, too many to name. So many virtuoso female players now as well Mohini, Esperanza, Tal.
Steve Bailey is a still a MONSTER on the bass and in his 60s - anyone who hasn’t needs to check out his recently released “Carolina” album of bass duets
Very nice! My Sadowsky 4-24 Will Lee PJ layout just arrived yesterday and "I'm as happy as a little girl" (nod to Austin Powers). Ian, two quick unrelated Qs: What was the first and third setting/program you used from your Line6 Stomp? And what would you say is your favorite rock-based Stomp amp/cab combo? Oh, and cheers, Scott...you rock as always.
Max Bennett was a well known bassist who played with Frank Zappa, Larry Carleton and may others. He died in 2018 at age 90. He was playing with hi band Private Reserve right until the end.
This podcast is awesome, so glad I found it !!
Scott, just when I think you can't get any cooler, you busy out Thundercats. God I love this guy.

You guys are hilarious!
Love these podcasts!
Loved the podcast. Playing a 6-string is its own special joy. PS. - I still have my Carvin LB76 as my main bass.
As a fellow bald bass player who is just a couple years older than you two I can say that I loved hanging out with you both!
This was awesome, thanks!
I loved this free-form conversation style edition of the podcast. Also I was born in 1993 and I knew all your cartoon references Scott!

I'm watching this as I wait for FedEx to deliver my new bass :)
New Bass Day is always a great day.

Thundercat and Flea are both in Star Wars!
We need a Thundercats Theme bass battle from you two.

That is quite inspirational; it's the way I want to go out. Groving until I can't grove no more.
Btdubs, there is only one 6 string bass, a Ken Smith!
Yes ramble more!
Thundercats we’re big here. But what y’all know about some GoBots?
I guess I'm lucky. I'll be 65 this month and I still have great full head of hair with only a tiny bit of grey.
