Sal’s acting like a regular John Brynn when it comes to The Vision. *EDITED:* I am so freaking happy Wandavision’s popularity made the broader comic book fandom rediscover the quote that illustrated Mr. Brynn’s bs reasoning for breaking up Wanda and Vision’s happy marriage and *getting rid of a women’s children in the most fucked up way possible!* It’s like if a previous writer does something to a character he doesn’t like, he personally felt like he needed to *punish* the previous writers by violently strangling their ideas to death and and shitting on their corpse. He did this again when he got control of the Star Brand book and then he violently killed Jim Shooter’s author insert title character by having him explode and violently kill everyone in Jim Shooter’s home city of Pittsburgh, because he couldn’t just kill off Jim Shooter’s author insert character all because Jim Shooter expected everyone to always meet their deadlines and was horrible about it because he had *ZERO* social skills and thought being tough was the answer, no, he had to *kill EVERYONE* in a fictionalized version of his hometown (and you just _know_ at least a few of the supporting cast in Star Brand’s version of Pittsburgh were fictionalized versions of Shooter’s hometown friends and family) and turn this into an event to launch new stories for Jim Shooter’s pet project he was kicked off of, The New Universe.
I've kept a "if I could write one comic series" answer in my head of "I would write another Exiles series" and I would find a way to put the Rogue Thor on that team.
Fantastic episode, definitely like the idea to shift to “The Wrong Box”. GBU has always been my favorite show of yours that isn’t Back Issues, so I’m so happy to see it back, and maybe evolving!!
I was never able to find any issues of the solo series as a kid but i thought he was cool af in Magnus robot fighter vs predator that crossover is great
Love what if, so glad you chose two of my favs. Would watch every episode if you did a series on just what if’s or the other dark multiverse you didn’t cover in back issues
I love the new format of the show, that nobody is having their arm twisted to pick a "bad" or an "ugly!" I really needed this positivity boost today. Thanks, in a big bad way!
Wow I had the first 2... totally forgot those existed. I think Sal mentioned in another show that elseworlds were "better" or more substantive and I think he nailed that. I collected both and can't even remember most What ifs
I feel like this is because after volume 1, most What If’s were your standard 23-26 pages and the first volume and a few of the special one shots their length could reach the into the 40’s.
Oh man, I remember these from when I was a little kid. I really wanted to read the Punisher/Cap story because I was a Punisher fan and loved _What If Venom Had Possessed the Punisher?_ I also loved _What If Wolverine Became Lord of the Vampires_ in which Frank Castle becomes Sorcerer Supreme (he looks great in the cape). I can't wait to watch this when I get home!
Really enjoyed seeing all three covered. Look forward to checking them out on my inevitable What If binge. Least amount Punisher as Cap - though if it was given the Daredevil Netflix treatment I'd be all over that though. Captain America becomes Deathlok was cool. Think my fave was Doom as Sorcerer Supreme, but Rogue-Thor is the one I'd like see more explored most. Give her a maxi-series or something; maybe a Renew Your Vows type opportunity during some event.
Hey is this Simon Furmans Comicpop debut? 3rd book. That man wrote scripted or had some hand pretty much in every Transformers comic i owned as a kid. Big Kudos to that man :-) Awesome GBU !!
Always been a fan of What If. This was a really good selection. A few I would recommend: Wolverine battled Weapon X (#62, ironically enough), Hulk Killed Wolverine (#50, my personal favourite), the X-Men died on their first mission (#9) and Legion Killed Magneto (#77).
Yes first Simon Furman book (that I know of) on Comic Pop! Simon Furman is a big person in the Transformers world, the person who added a tone to that franchise and fleshed it out beyond the toy commercial.
43:50 Technically, the problem with "they" is that it is plural. Back then "they" wasn't used for colloquially for he/she/them, like it is today. So they probably wouldn't have wanted the hammer inscription to be grammatically incorrect. I became exceedingly aware of this because my high school english teachers would remove points for writing "they" (even if it was a situation where the only details I knew about the person was they they were a human with a unisex name like "Taylor"). They always said I would have to write "he or she", or just guess.
You guys should stick with the Thor theme and review the Eric Masterson stint as Thor, it’s super 90s and ridiculous and I think you guys would have fun with it
:42 I'm sure plenty of fans remember when Jane Foster became Thor - yes, there was a WHAT IF...? about it first - and said "She can't BE Thor, that's his name!" Why is it that almost anyone else who tries to be Captain America is a total lunatic!? lol
Captain America's a man of flesh and blood. and VITA RAYZ. These are all fun. I'm really fascinated with Punisher Captain America. I would like to see it revisited in multi issue format. Maybe by someone who can write something political.
*Tiffany:* "Vision dies."
*Sal, not an advocate for robot rights:* "He's _broken."_
Seriously, he defends skrulls, but he has a problem with sentient robots.

You won't be laughing when the robots take over and use as living batteries!!!1!1
@@Popcultureguy3000 Yeah, John Brynn sounds like an asshole.
Let's be completely fair. Rogue is literally a conduit for an infinite amount of "What Ifs".
I've kept a "if I could write one comic series" answer in my head of "I would write another Exiles series" and I would find a way to put the Rogue Thor on that team.
The Ancient One: This is a place of transcendent experience, not a pizza joint!
Doom: Make me one with everything!
Tossing my support behind you guys escaping a format you outgrew; Wrong Box 2.0 fits the ever-increasing level of analysis that ComicPop operates on
Fantastic episode, definitely like the idea to shift to “The Wrong Box”. GBU has always been my favorite show of yours that isn’t Back Issues, so I’m so happy to see it back, and maybe evolving!!
The biggest surprise for me was that Sal referenced Magnus Robot Fighter. Implying that someone else remembers that exists.
I am one of the few remaining fans of Magnus Robot Fighter myself!
I was never able to find any issues of the solo series as a kid but i thought he was cool af in Magnus robot fighter vs predator that crossover is great
Deep cut but the artwork of Magnus Robot Fighter is undeniable to anyone that takes the time to read it
@@austenwhitebeard4008 I really appreciated how early Valiant strived to maintain the original art style before going full 90s
One of my first comics was a What If! At a con in a dollar bin I found What If Venom bonded to The Punisher
That's where What If VenomPunisher belongs.
Awesome comic the punisher used the venom In very creative ways
Damn that Punisher what if deserved his own mini series but I'm surprised they pull it off in a single issue
Totally down for the name change. Also, I would love more "What if" books would be awesome :)

I like the name "The Wrongbox", it's witty and rolls off the tongue. Also that Rogue Thor book sounds so fun.
Blob sees Rogue has become Goddess of Thunder. His repressed urges for the Mighty Thor overwhelm him.

All of these would be great additions to my library... *saunters over to store*

This was way better than I expected, lol.
I mean quality of the books
Yeeessss, the only GBU episode (so far) in which I have read all three of them... 🤣🤣🤣
I have a box of 10 GBU categories for y'all, I'll be sending it in a few days hope y'all like them.
Any and all what if’s are fine by me. Keep em coming. Great episode!
"Come to space you get rad powers or you die."
Unless your a mutant then you do both.
Hey is this Simon Furmans Comicpop debut? 3rd book. That man wrote scripted or had some hand pretty much in every Transformers comic i owned as a kid. Big Kudos to that man :-) Awesome GBU !!
My favorite What If comic was "What If Wolverine was Lord of the Vampires?" I read that issue so much that it fell apart.
Oooh surprise GBU!! Let’s GO!!
"Robo Cap" hahahaha Ben being Ben
Love your channels! I’ve been watching for the last couple months listened to so many back issues and just want to say good job and stay healthy!
Please keep these weekly
Wrong, Ben! I am going to grow up to be Man-Wolf, and there is nothing anyone can do about it!
4:00 really getting Charlie vibes from Tiffany here
I have the Thor book and the captain America one, but apparently don’t remember the cap book at all!

Wrongbox, huzzah!
This episode was cool but I wonder if Tiffany squealed when she saw the trailer for the Midnight Suns?? The game looks amazing.
Please more What If GBU , I hope you cover What If? Vol 2 #114 , What If Secret Wars 25 Years later , it's my fave what if book
Great episode guys!
Has "Robo-Cap" ever been a thing in the comics? And if not, why not?
Why is ice cream truck music playing in the background 🍦 🚚 🎶
me too
I thought that was an ice cream truck passing my house, but you heard it too??
So, out of the three books, which one has enough story left to tell and can be made into a 3 or more part mini series?
Love the new set
I support this name change.
y'all should have a "THUCK" shirt lol
Ooooh! This is going to be good!
Maybe my favorite GBU
ComicPop is the people. The Brains!

Honestly, give it to Garth
What if Annihilation Reached Earth was the best what-if imo
ah, so THIS is where GBU has gone. To the new channel!
I would love a wrongbox show where you pic a hoooooorrible comic and you just dump it there XD
Is there a possibility of any book getting redemption from "The Wrong Box"?
No. ruclips.net/video/iTX_L8xWtX0/видео.html
To think, Rogue Thor could've been taken down if they all just thought to wear gimp suits
Was this filmed pre-poll?
It was!
Awesome 😁 more GBU
It's kinda odd, but isn't Rouge OLDER in this one? She seems to have gotten YOUNGER anymore.
No! I hate change! We have to keep everything all the same always!
Hooray GBU!
Hell yeah
Ethan escaped this time, hmmm?!
I'd be interested to see what cap would be like if he fought the Japanese in the pacific theater maybe he would be more like frank castle
First time i see Ben telling the story... so weird
...in a good way
First
Dan slott just sucks at comics
