I’m probably one of the five people out there who still remembers, holds out hope for and cares about Sideways.

I just have the first issue. The premise is pretty cool and I’m a fan of the artist.
Sideways and Damage are a lot of fun. Damage was a fun Hulk pastiche when the Hulk wasn't around and Sideways is just the best.
Same idea for The Terrifics. Marvel is not publishing Fantastic Four and Hulk? DC will!
I do think Sideways is pretty cool, but I agree with Tiffany that the single best character DC has that they could use to appeal to a younger audience is Static. If they were willing to put more of an emphasis on Static I actually think he could be one of the most interesting and compelling characters in their universe.

For sure. Static is more of a pillar than Sideways will ever be. I wish they could get a new team with the both of them as well as other potentially popular teen characters.

Silencer was such an underrated, fun book...Abnett can pretty much do no wrong, 40K readers already know.

Yes! I loved that book, they can title the video "DC's Fantastic Four!" or something like that
It was so boring.
I remember an issue of Sideways where the artist drew him posing in the classic "Secret Wars" Black Suit Spider-Man reveal pose. They were fully aware of what this new DC wave of characters represented.
Clear rip-offs aside, Sideways was a fun book.
Black Spider in Young Justice will always be the biggest ripoff, he was even voiced by Josh Keaton
@@Akkbar21 Maybe. I believe Brimstone and The Terrifics did exist beforehand. Actually, I might be wrong, I think The Terrifics might have existed before the Fantastic 4.
@@Akkbar21 Damage existed before...he was a member of the JSA. Grant Emerson was his name and he was much more than a cheap hulk knockoff...

Sideways was the only one i really cared about, it had a lot of potential.
If Sideways was introduced in atleast the 80's it probably would've had its (still) ongoing.
If I were writing at DC and they gave me these characters I'd slap them on a team and see what cool shit I could do. I mean Sideways and Damage would be a dope team, all they'd have to do is have him the ability to 'Damage Out' specific parts of his body then he could team up with Sideways to cover each others weaknesses.
Damage about to run out of time, boom Sideways keeps him out of danger. The dynamic writes itself.
That's where I thought they were headed.
How about the 1st issues of the three Batgirl runs (2000, 2009 & 2011)?
Any excuse to roast Tempus Fuginaut automatically makes it a great episode
Funnily enough the Dark Matter title that ran the longest was The Terrifics which ran for thirty issues plus an annual.
Because it was so good lol but it was made up of established DC characters so it's not a surprise it lasted longer.
I wish these got more attention. I want a Sideways series so bad😩

I enjoy being able to sleep at night, so I greatly appreciate that there were no images of the Jelly Bean child from JRJR's Silencer.
Silencer and Sideways are the best ones for me. The Terrifics was really slept on. The rest were meh.
Funny enough, Damage listed longer than all the other ones besides Terrifics.
The Terrifics was by far the best book to come out of Dark Matter stuff but most if not all the characters were already pretty well established. They just look similar to the Fantastic Four on the surface
I just remembered The Silencer also appeared on Arrow the same year she first appeared in the comics. How crazy is it that a character made a live action appearance the same year they were created and was still immediately forgotten about.
They should have put her in one of the animated shows
Personally out of all these characters my favorite were was sideways he was really awesome and tons of fun
Okay but who remembers brimstone. The first couple issues introducing him were very cool and creative in the way they used the deal with the devil trick. But then it got rather stale, boring, and kind of generic after that unfortunately. The writing got quite bad. But that was one of my favourite ones from all of the new series.
Brimstone was great for like 5 mins 😂
Yessss Brimstone was cool! Kinda dug the twist about the source of his powers at the end of the series (even though it kinda changes the book from horror to sci-fi)

I really did enjoy Sideways, I gave a lot of these books a shot, but never really stuck with any. Sideways was cool, great art, and I'm glad I read it all the way.

I really enjoyed Sideways for the most part. The annual was a lot of fun. Damage was pretty interesting too. Hoping someone uses Sideways again despite him being a DiDio creation. Would love to see a Back Issues on the full Sideways story someday.

Man, SIdeways has such potential and if they wanted to pretend like they cared, they could have had him join the Teen Titans Academy, but they didn’t even do that. I only read Sideways and Curse of Brimstone (which was cool art and not much else)

I genuinely enjoyed all 3 of these runs. Damage the least probably, but it was still fun. I still think there is room for them in the modern DC era with Sideways having the most chance to reappear. He could slide in perfectly to the current Teen Titans stuff.
They could put them all on their own team too which I think could be money

Dc REALLY tried to make Silencer work. She was shoehorned into tons on series's for no reason.
Silencer always looked like DC's John Wick to me.
Silencer is only one who survived, i actually like her book the most out of all them

I need to make a best of GBU playlist, as I'm rewatching some since the first time and had forgot just how damn good some are. I know these books/characters didn't go over well, but the episode and roundtable discussion was just really, really good.
Was a fan of Sideways earlier but admit the Kenneth Rocafort art was the ONLY reason I gave it a chance.
Wouldn't mind seeing a gbu about spider-man protagonists. Invincible, Miles Morals, Static etc.

I mean, we all know who won out in the Dark Matter Universe books-it was Silencer since she was the only character to end up on a DC tv show within a year of its creation.
Honestly, The Terrifics was the best because it was the most fun. Lemire then Gene Luan Yang did a great job. I think it was brought down by Year of the Villan because that arc with Bizarro went on way too long. Sideways was also pretty fun and if u read till the end it was a solid story. I was a new reader at the time and pretty young, so I actually liked Sideways more than Spider-Man.

MY HONEST THOUGHTS ON 2 COMIC STORIES & MY HOPES FOR THEM GETTING REMADE SOMEDAY:
I think the ComicBook story of (SIDE-WAYS) & the ComicBook story about the (SILENCER) they both should deserve the right to get another chance, and hopefully the storyline for each one of them could have a better storyline set up written for them both.
The reason why I want both of the ComicBooks stories get remade someday, is because I genuinely liked some of the aspects from each of the stories, and I think that if they were each given a second chance, and than there might be a chance that a much better written storyline introduction could be made for each of the characters.
Always willing to pause my day in favor of GBU!

Hey, really entertaining episode! I was feeling like shit this week, but you guys did cheer me up. May I suggest for future episodes tie-in issues to events that you've already covered? Or more forgettable ripoff characters?
How about a GBaU on Bloodlines spinoffs? As you already did the Bloodlines event on Back Issues. At least a few got minis or ongoing titles.
Or 90's Dc Teen team books, for a while Dc was flooded with them.

I'd love to see you tackle some of the Marvel comic toy adaptations that didn't quite catch on like Transformers or GIJoe; stuff like Crystar, Starriors, or Sectaurs. I would include Rom in this, but that lasted 70+ issues and had major influence on the Marvel universe so it did catch on, and better than the toy. (Also I love Rom, and must live in fear that you might deem it Wrongbox-worthy.)

Dark Matter Universe to me always came off to me as a shameless knock off of Marvel's Ultimate Universe... Damage was Hulk, Sideways was Spider-Man, Silencer was Black Widow/Hawkeye and The Terrifics wore its "Not Fantastic Four" nature as a selling point
Actually kind of wishes we saw more from damage. He was an interesting gimmick
