In my humble opinion, the magic that Marillion created when the lights of the great progressive rock bands went out, back in the 80s, ended without Fish.
This song is so much better live then any studio version anyone will come up whit. The combination of Fish``s anger, and the unbareble sadness of Stevens guitar crying his hart out over the dead and the destruction.....WOW!
I agree. I'm 25 and I was brought up on this by my parents (now in their 40's). I will for sure be playing marillion to my kids when I have some. Marillion will go on in the hearts and minds of a couple more generations yet.
OMG, this brings back such wonderful Memories ... I must have been 15 or 16 when this happened. Now im 42 ... What a Great Live Version, thank you very much for this.
Amazing to see this again, Fish was marillion, have to say i lost interest when Fish left. Script for a jesters tear is one of the best albums ever, seen them so many times, great memories.
Fantastic - coming from Belfast this song had such resonance - particularly at the time that all we had was U2 - Bloody Sunday - that did more to divide than anything else. Not so foreign shores indeed! This should bring us hope - look how far we have come in Northern Ireland - could not have imagined it when Fish penned this track
One of the best lyricists of our time. Yes, I know all about Bono but don't think he comes close, "who orders desecration, mutilatoin verbal m>>>> in the garden of beaurocratic wants" what a line...
Wow!!! This version makes me flying out in outer space. Is it possible to make music good as this???? Fish ..... shoots himself in the end here....but puh...he stands up again....I love it.
No matter how many times I hear this song, it still sends chills down my spine. What an amazing song...what an amazing band. H's material is decent as well = check out 'Brave' and 'Marbles'
Forgotten sons, Chelsea monday and Script for a jesters tear have at least five times more listens on my ipod than any other songs. The album Script for a jesters tear is a masterpiece. The lyrics are amazing. Makes me feel sad when I hear the shit 'lyrics' of more modern artists, especially that r 'n' b bullshit that people are spoon fed nowadays.
Love this song always have! its timeless! But how many forgotton sons has there been since this song! Too many! If only mr blair had listened to this before lying to us and sendin more sons to die!
@koszmarnykarolek oh stupid me. i thought the troubles took place in NORTHERN IRELAND a part of the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland.
marillion i know him from the first album "fugazi" and that was before the cd I whish that he is coming back to marillion bacause with the new man on vocal marillion is nothing
Who cares who`s wrong or who`s wright?? Both of you are missing the point....Stop this useless slaughtering of each others kids.....That`s the point, nothing else! Where there are two fighting, two are wrong;) Peace and enjoy this terrific song!
a truely awsome band in the days with Fish, his charima and Steve's guitar! What a mind blowing combination!!!

To jest jeden z najlepszych utworów zespołu Marillion .
Beautiful, thanks Fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No going through the motions here. This is pure emotion that never fails to bring chills to me.
Hugely, hugely talented writer and singer.

This might be the best live prog rock performance. Just imagine if it had been performed in front of a Wembley Stadium packed with fans.
I love this song...

Why is know one listening to this in 2020
the lamb lies down on wall straight ~ "heads on" first!

@zardalu such a tense moment and I love the dirty look he gives those in the crowd that simply can't control themselves.

He writes like Shakespear. Or used to anyway. Great stuff.
Surely far out there in the universe one kind of god pointed his finger at this man!

MARILLION is a real good band, that’s for sure!!
BUT without FISH there’s NO MARILLION!!
renumeratedfrog: Wrong, this was released in 83, after the war. It`s about IRA bombing.
Can anyone explain what is meant by “Monday signings”?
Aww did you have to say 27 years? It might be true, but don't you still feel 22?
Why should he? He has grown as "Fish" without the band.
They fall back to a simple pop band.
But he is FISH and ever will be
Mike Patton robo esto!!
przybrał barwy wojenne
