I think anyone who criticizes this song either has very narrow expectations of what Marillion is "supposed to be", or just doesn't get it. Anoraknophobia is a fantastic album, and this is a great opener.
Perfect for one of those hot sunny days on a summer morning 🌞 underated band these are...look through their albums and you'll find they've done more than anyone else....they also keep changing... something for everyone in this band.
Marillion is such an interesting sort, whilst keeping those rock roots. My first dose was Torch Song/Slainte Mhath (Clutching At Straws), Then I listened to all of the fish era albums. On my first listen to the Hogarth era (Season's End), it was striking at first to hear the change of singer, but now it's grown on me. I may always be an 80's kind of person, but songs like this bring out the 90's 00's indie/alternative lover in me. My favourite of the Hogarth albums so far is Holidays in Eden, and of course for the Fish albums it's Clutching at Straws.
Liked this one from the moment I first heard it. Got my first experience with "Fugazi" and then of course along came Misplaced Childhood. After "Clutching at Straws" I lost interest when I'd heard Fish left. I figured that was it, they were done, boy was I wrong. Fish tells good stories, but I find it easier to relate to H's stories. I can still listen to Fish, but it small doses, Marillion with H? All day long, never get tired of it.
that is exactly my feeling! I too lost interst in Marillion after Fish's departure. Never heard Marillion again untill by chanve heard Beautiful. After that became an Anorak with Marillion, specially with H!
@unlikeanyotherhuman Hi - Steve Hogarth is pretty much new age/hippy in terms of religion. Definitely not a Christian - but he is kind of spiritual. Love this song too!!
Just what is it that is wrong with this song besides the rest of the world who does not know Marillion is misssing the freakin boat. This song rocks period any language

The only disappointing thing is Marrillion really don't do enough of this kind of stuff. Great song.
Such a fun song, taught me to avoid middle-aged men driving black F 150s.
