You should extend the bumper a little to make sure that nobody can park too close to keep you from getting in or out. Also sue the pizza owner for price gouging, $30 for 3 slices is a crime 😂😂😂😂
it was 6 huge pieces not three
Can you imagine being trapped in there while someone is on a multi hour day trip. lol.
This is an adventure! Anyone can drive a giant RV with all the comforts of home. This is still a step up from motorcycle camping.
This is an adventure! Anyone can drive a giant RV with all the comforts of home. This is still a step up from motorcycle camping. Remember, once you are north of Santa Barbara lose the “the” for the road name. It is Highway One, not the one. Also it’s a K truck not a key truck. Some other names, for future reference are Cayucos is Kai-YOU-kose and that lake is cah-CHOO-ma. Cuesta Grade on 101 would have been impossible but I think 46 would have gotten you over the mountains.

とても素敵でワクワクする動画をありがとう!
コンパクトなカスタムされた素敵な宇宙船で冒険してるようなものですね、私はそれが大好きです
This is awesome !! don’t listen to any “hate comments” not a lot of people get to rebuild and drive a 1997 japanese mini truck so… hats off to you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
To help with your bed . Use a bar of soap while the bed is pulled out remove the mattress and rub the soap where the wood is close. Use a fragrance soap that may be organic. or a beeswax candle. Cool ass camper🤙
Love this video. I’m an American who’s lived in Japan for 35+ years. Great ride, but my Japanese wife had some serious thoughts about how you made rice and gyudon.
i cannot believe how far this dude has become i was only watching him while he was on 38k subs dang congrats for making this far
nah same bro i knew he would get there bro he used to upload daily as well.
Idk if I’m the only person who actually loves watching Ryan’s series videos but this is my movie for tonight!! I’m in love with this camper. Ryan if you ever want to sell or bless your top viewer with this amazing camper please let me be first in line. Literally the only thing I would change is a Hayabusa swap lol
I just watched a video of this engine swap. Looks like Ryan wouldn't have to worry about getting up the mountain lol.
@@brianm4158 can you tag Ryan lol
@@brianm4158 strap a friggin Hayabusa in that bad boy lol
I know, came across this video by accident around 3am-ish, figured I'd watch a minute of it and fall asleep..now it's daylight 😅 I have to take a nap now!
@ the mini series became one of my favorites of Ryan’s. I’m 5 7 and love living a minimalist life. I’d love the chance to buy this thing if Ryan ever wants to sell it
your other van will seem like a mansion when you get back out in it, loving your adventures , i can't wait for the next installment already.
I cannot believe i finished this.. you were my companion when i need a stop with my work for 2days... Despite some negative remarks in the comment section. This for me is a good watch. Im a fan of an unstage vanlife. Looking forward to more videos with this camper, hopefully.
Enjoyed it so much.. safe driving and more travels. 🎉
I had so many plans and responsibilities today but... *climbs into bed* looks like we have to watch a 2.5 hour video :)
For a second, I was getting Deja Vu, but it's because this is the whole trip on one video..got it.
I am glad you said that. I stopped watching after he came off the highway going through Camp Pendleton. I will continue to watch further.
has anyone installed a turbo on these engines before??
@@Orbacron Yes, check mighty car mods turbo kei truck
@@FrozenDen2 so yeah, I was thinking this channel could get some much needed hill climbing turbo power to continue the adventure farther out from home base
@@Orbacron some kei cars came with turbos stock too. Most of the pickups don't get one, but a few like Subaru's might have one. Still with 64hp max but more torque
Of course this little truck can handle it! In Japan, they use these every day for everything-from deliveries and factory work to farming. This is like a little vacation for a truck like this.
PS.. had a 73 FJ 40, that had a 327 swapped to the mated 3 speed that came w the original 6 cyl. toy engine. Had for 5 years, no issues except preventative fixes, to road trip in it in the 90's... tented, n was able to crash in it in bad weather.. Gas was cheaper then! lol. so was able to do easier than the High Jet... you got.. lol. but off road it shined, and in snow!! High Jets good for CA warm weather but NO off road ability, but still cheers to you with the homeless guy doing a double look at your rig!! It has artistic respects!! Best! Ric land of 10,000 lakes... MN, and live in CA for 2000-2014... loved it!
Oddly enough, your videos made me buy my first pair of Birkenstocks. Keep the good videos up brother.
I love it! Also, I’m pretty sure when I was little, to lock the door, we had to press down on the lock button (or "locket") while simultaneously lifting the door handle upwards as you close the door to engage the lock properly when the door shuts. And it should keep it from unlocking by itself. Thanks for getting that childhood memory out of me!
"Bonsai Keitora" with a bonzai tree graphic would be an awesome addition to the paint job
Econ button on the AC declutches the AC compressor when you feel like you don't need it. It is a turbo button on acceleration, diverts power from life support system to the main drive unit. :D
so cool to build a small camper in the country where everything has to be bigger to be "better". and thanks for sharing your trip!
"witch cackles" you savage 🤣🤣
Lock the truck without using the key = push the inside door lock down, hold the outside door handle up when closing the door and it will lock without the lock coming back up and no key needing to be used.
Good ol' Miata method
@@SammiAKATucker Pretty much all Japanese cars from that era
@@DStead2239 very true!
I’m on the highway yesterday, and the same truck, minus the house, flies by me. Then we came to a hill, and I had to pass HIM!!😂
Try locking the door from the inside and closing the door holding the outside door handle up. That’s what works in my work truck. I’m curious to know if that works for you. What an awesome build. Congrats on it. Can’t wait to see some of the big trips.
Edit: that’s what I get when I comment in the middle of a video. Glad that worked lol.
I really love this this build. I would love to have his full-size van. 😊 seeing that dog being so excited to see the water and play in it warmed my heart. Good stuff.
LIFT UP THE DOOR HANDLE WHILE YOU CLOSE THE DOOR! That’s how you keep it locked lol. Most old Japanese vehicles are like this.
I was going to say the same thing.
I was going to say the same.😂
Some modern 2000s-2010s Japanese cars also still do this. My Suzuki minivan from 2008-2009 will refuse to lock if doors are not all closed already, or if you don't lift the handle while closing it with lock on.
Did I watch all the seperate videos?
Yes.
Am I still gonna watch this?
Yes!
Thanks for sharing your adventure. You and your team did a great job on the build. I have seen so many KEI mini truck conversions prior to yours.
I think my favorites are the Dangie Bros and Jake Hall. Yours comes in as number #3 on my list👍🏻
On older vehicles with those types of locks, I believe you can lock the door by pressing the lock down but instead of just closing the door, hold the handle up as you close it. It should stay locked instead of popping the lock up.
Come here to say the same thing also how I locked my keys in the car many times
The mini truck camper build has been so cool to watch, man!
I agree if you do a bumper on the rear could help as a step into the camper, also possibly put a shelf in the area by your sink to give more storage area. Net on the bottom and clothing area on top.
2.5hrs of my 10hr shift (I weld Jeep parts for a living) lets gooo adventures with Ryan
If you hot glue a ribon or string on the back side on each side of the curtains, you can just roll them up instead of pulling them down. Just a thought. Sailboats are racing, its a regatta.
I'm a Yank who after 9 years US Army, I moved to Australia as a teacher (1979). They sell these trucks here in Oz ... no big deal, really. We used a frame/canvas roof cover for the box and went camping ... also had a 12' square market tent with fly screen and 4 walls for shade (Picnic table. Never saw an Automatic model though. Also a lot of hills on the east coast, so down shifting was normal. Top end cruising was around 55 MPH ... It even had a motorcycle type gas filter you could check by the side of the gas tank. Sadly, he like most Vietnam Combat Veterans, died of cancer a few years ago...over 300,000 VN Vets have died AFTER coming home with illnesses directly related to Dioxin Poisoning. His Mum offered it to me, but I had her sell it. I like yours, except the bed, I agree you need more padding for the mattress ... a two inch foam topper can be rolled up when not in use, during the day in the passenger seat ... just a thought.
Amazing video, enjoyed every second. Cant believe you saved your shark when the pan slipped without dropping it or burning your hand. love the videos Ryan.
I enjoyed your video! Anytime I feel like I’m along for the ride I’m entertained. Great editing as well. Good job!👍🏽
I like your camper, just the right size for necessities and I think you did a great job building it. Take care and enjoy 😊
Dude nothing like editing for my channel and watching this 2 hour video. Thanks a bunch man!!!
That grill is absolute JUNK brother! I would give it away to somebody!,,,,
This is definitely the coolest project I’ve seen done with the mini truck I’ve personally looked at a few videos and some of the trucks out of curiosity but I would’ve never thought of this beauty safe travels keep up the great content 😁🤝
HA!
It's a movie!
Shall I watch this all over again? Hmmmmmmm.
YES!
I just like how it’s compiled together, it’s like following along a story without waiting for the next upload! Just sitting in my office paying bills lol!
Yes gonna watch the entire trip in one video now after watching individual ones just can't get enough ❤ stay safe
That was SO much fun! I live in California but haven't made that coast trip in many years, so really enjoyed this.

You da man bro!!!!! Quite the life. Nothing but love for you and yours! ❤
Quick tip to lock it.. hold the handle up while ypu close it then the lock pin will not pop back up :) go give it a try
Your next endeavor should be some sort of cooking book. Your van life recipes always got me starving on the other side of the screen 😂
I know you didn't want the meat to freeze, but something I learned from my wife is that she freezes the beef and then because we don't have a slicer she can slice it very thin when it's frozen. Maybe in the future if you want to cook it again that might help you if you want to cook gyudon again and slice super thin with minimal tools.
Beautiful Kei truck camper setup man! This is amazing! Congrats on the camper project! Outstanding! Cheers from Chicago!
If you push down the lock on the drivers door again and then hold the handle in an upright position while you are closing the door it will allow you to lock your doors without inserting the key :)
to save time while you're cooking the rice you can put the egg on top when the rice starts boiling and both will get cooked around the same time.

Bed or head of bed oriented to be curb side for a safety cushion from-sideswipe when parked along street. You put together a nifty rig and we like that you’re a foodie without being too fancy. Giggle when you squirt the ketchup then smash your breakfast sandwiches.

Great build and great video 👍🏼
The MiniVan videos are Awesome!❤❤
I use a Jetboil to boil water for coffee/tea, washing up, oatmeal and anything else I need boiling water for. Uses small propane canisters. Saves on battery usage.
I love it, can't wait to see what's next!!
I just watched this entire video while laying while lying in the back of my 2024 Santa Fe. Love the videos man!
Sexiest .... breakfast sandwich dude!! double velvet cheese... balsey ketchup squirt! and next to a major roadway!! lol 101 counts... not like the 5.. or 40.. but loved the way the 50 year old bmx guy,,,, was admiring your rig!!..!! as the stripes, encourage the 50-60 something that grew up in the 70's ... out their still!
Cheers!!
From another traveler, low key no camera... over the decades... PS... the coffee of the day where you are at! ocean.... would be a can of Guinness... next best to a stiff coffee!! when in ROME..... Guinness!
Two and a half hours? This is like a movie. Nice work man 👍
Fyi Ryan, if you press down the lock on the door.... hold the lever up when you shut the door when leaving. It will keep it locked so you won't have to use the key😉
Have a great day!🤘

Good ol' Miata method.
@@SammiAKATucker Friend, that feature has been around for longer than Miatas have :) My father's 1970 Datsun 510 did this

Any kind of fish tastes great when it is well marinated with salt lemon juice garlic-ginger paste, turmeric powder, cayenne pepper powder, and let it sit overnight
Some super entertaining content . That mini camper is super cool
Thank you for doing what you do. Love the adventures.
I really love this this build. I would love to have his full-size van. 😊
7:35 tips on the door lock: press the lock inside, close the door while pulling the door knob if u dont wanna use the key.
I always watch you video i really love every camp vehicle that u use from any kind of travel
W late night video, love watching these in bed before going to bed

Such a good channel, feels like im in the road trip as well.
Nice to do a full video of your California Road trip. Looking forward to your next video 😘❤️❤️❤️
THIS SO GREAT LOVE THE LONG VID
KEEP IT UP!!!!
When you lock the door from the inside try holding the door lock upward from the outside when you close it so it stays locked and you don’t have to use the key to lock it from the outside. Some Japanese old cars lock as such.
You could make a magnetic solution for the window drapes, and that will allow you to think of other ideas for what you can use those magnets for. Maybe a clothes drying line during the day, right next to the windows. I do think Velcro pockets would go great on the ceiling for smaller items, especially if made with a zipper
It truly is crazy to me you can just import one of these bad boys and have them shipped and dropped off like furniture. I know it’s nothing new or special- but it’s just cool! What is special is the build. The camper looks awesome
Great video, very well put together.
I really enjoyed your trip. It was great to watch now let’s see once you smooth out the things you thought were kinks.
I got 9 foot long bed with 5 foot wide,
I got 9x6" box.
Im using 3x6 for bathroom at the front. Nice bag toilet with shower and sink. I got water tank on the front over the trucks cabin roof where wind deflector is, no pumps needed. Gravity do the work.
Back with 6x6, i have foldable bed on left side and kitchen tables sink on right, cabinets on top
I have really enjoyed this video! I shall subscribe!
omg is the most exciting video i have ever seen
New sub here...I thoroughly enjoyed that...your living your best life and I'm here for it!
"Keep on Truckin"!...from East NC. :)
Great video Sir! Keep em coming please!
For the lock mechanism, you could lock the door and hold up the lever while closing it and it'll stay locked.
About locking the car without a key. Press the lock down( the pin). Hold the handle outside up. While up close the door.
You ought to try the trangia alcohol burning stove for light meals. It works great in small spaces
Windshield is layored, no need to change it. If you push the nob and close the drivers door with the door opener up, you can lock it without the key.
LOL! I leave my laptop or tablet on at night to help me sleep, right?
Well, this morning your recap of the trip up the Coast Highway was running (again), so I started watching (again).
I guess it is my day to join you & Allenn on your journey because when I went to call a friend to go for a walk, you were doing the chick pea salad on the laptop *AND* on my cell phone!🤪 Yeah!?!
Anyway, while enjoying it, I've kept thinking of the people along that route and hoping they are surviving this wildfire. ✌Peace to you, Allenn and them.💔
Cool cool video, Alright now lets get back to the batvanmobile nowww right nowwwwww
Oh yes 2 hours of entertainment 😮
We need to send this idea to Uzbekistan, they still make such machines there. And the idea with the mini house is wonderful.
when you say you wouldnt be able to sit on it, do you mean that you would sink in too low when sitting or that you head would hit the ceiling? If the former, I would suggest just using two layers of foam independent of each other, thus dispersing the weight of the first foam onto the second, causing minimum sinkage. It's the same reason you have an big indent in the first pillow you sleep on and a smaller indent on the one beneath it, I think.
Awesome video. Well done. That looked like a lot of fun. Appreciate your sense of adventure.
It’s time for my weekly Ryan dose… disappointed! It’s like going to see the latest Marvel movie and realising it’s just the last 6 movies back to back 😢😂
The radio is tuned for Asia frequencies. So you'll need to replace it for a standard USA radio.
Japan uses a basically world wide standard. The non standard system is used in the US. Some radios can be set to work there.
