Pretty sure video of this going viral is why I suddenly started getting recommended videos about amusement park accidents a week or so ago. It also broke yts algorithms
I watched my neighbors go on one of those and I was watching from the front row and my knees involuntarily buckled when they shot up and that’s when I learned I would never be able to go on one and then I saw videos like this one and I was like “i’m never going back to an amusement park EVER”
I went on one. I was petrified of the cord snapping but still went on it. It was one of the best rides I've ever been on. I don't think I'd do it again tho unless they're made safer.
It's a testiment to how securely the riders were strapped in that neither of them came loose as the ride went wrong. I'm sure it must have been very terrifying for them at the time, but I'm glad they came through their ordeal unhurt.
If you examine the video closely you can actually see the left Bungee tension together with the right one and then suddenly loose tension and fall down. So the chain of events was actually: 1.Both winches tension as normal. 2.The left cable falls off 3.The Electromagnet "slips" The initial failure is likely located at the top left pulley.

Although the elastic doesn't snap, it does look like it snapped in the video since it's hard to see the rope tethering the right side to the tower--since both of the visible elastic ends come in to frame, it seems like the entire thing broke off, when in reality it was tugged farther than it normally would be.
Yeah well, the MSM journalists aren't known for their intellect. I'm surprised the headline didn't call it a "Roller Coaster" (every amusement ride is called a roller coaster in the media... as if they have no idea there are different types of rides, and yes they always put a space between roller and coaster!). Crazy. Just crazy. Thankfully nobody was injured. That’s about the second time that something like that has happened ever. Not often, so these rides are almost perfectly safe.

The ball acted like a roll cage at that point; pretty smart failsafe by the designers, otherwise that could have been so much worse
