Kmart Closing Bridgehampton, NY by October 2024

- I knew this time would come, but I didn't want to. The very last full-line Kmart store within mainland United States is now closing and will close its doors for the final time on October 20th. With just a fraction of the size of a store in Miami, there are no more stores across the country unless you fly a plane to either Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is just unbelievable to imagine that an iconic national retailer such as Kmart that had more than 2000 stores has fallen to just a few stores in which most of them are not even located on the mainland. If you want to visit an actual Kmart store before it's gone, then the time is now as you don't have much time left.

Other than feeling bad for the employees who will soon be out of work, can someone please explain why anyone loves Kmart so much to be sad about it closing.
The last Kmart I went to was in Dubuque, IA when it closed in March 2017. I don't remember shedding a tear. I DO remember thinking it was extremely dated. As though I'd entered a time capsule back into the 1990's. It's what happens when you don't invest in your business or plan well for the future. Feel bad for employees who lost their jobs. But as a whole, Kmart is reaping what it has sown. It's how business works.
Sears and Kmart will eventually close everything and then that will be the end of both brands
NOOO this truly is the end of THE kmart era. I hope the employees can find new lasting employment else were, nothing lasts forever sadly.
Yeah, it’s a shame how fast Eddie treats his employees like expendables. All he is interested in now is all that restate the stores are worth.
I really thought that the nearly complete lack of local competition would keep it going for a long time to come.
Yep, obviously the building was sold to someone so we will find out in the coming months what’s going to fill the space.
