My NES Collection - ruclips.net/video/0ReC3NRj6js/видео.html
I would have thought you would have more then 25 games. the qaulity of games far exceeds mine.
I have 72, 32 are CIB and i have 1 super famicom game excite stage 94 and only one game that will refuse to work on either of my snes consoles, stunt race FX.
I do watch your open cart surgery videos. I do have a super gameboy. I also have lagoon but only loose, Bahamut Lagoon is good but i play that on a emulator with a english translation
Sounds like you should move on from retro or something loll
Goof Troop was a good cartoon! Did you have a favorite cartoon? Voltron was mine. There were so many great cartoons of the 80s.
Oh my gosh John.. you mentioned your childhood issue... I was born in 1984 and i get it... you are awesome John!!!
Not gonna lie, I love that John keeps his games in a regular old plastic box. He’s a man of the people.
A people of the men
I mean bruh; they're hard plastic cartridges. You can keep them anywhere and they will be fine.
Looking stoned as fuck in this video too lol
The ‘People‘s Gamer’ ✌️
A man among men
I worked on Wrestlemania the Arcade Game in the mid-90s for the Playstation. Sculptured Software was porting this to at least seven game systems all at the same time, which was the biggest port effort I had ever seen, involving around 24 team members as I recall.
I helped work on a program that converted the arcade machine code to the R3000 machine code used by the first Playstation.
We were doing all this while the arcade game was being finalized by Midway. During this project, I just happen to meet one of the Midway programmers on a chess server.
Always cool to hear stories from the people that worked on these older games!
Cool man, my late cousin and I played the hell out of that version. I had the Genesis version, another cousin had the SNES version, but we were all blown away by the PS version.
@@melvinburchettGood to hear.
Big ups for having Demon’s Crest.
It's not about the size of the collection, it's all about how you play them🤣
Nice! Its not about the size of the cruise ship its the way you steer it.
@@JoHnAnDjAnEdOe81 now that's funny🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@teen_laqueefa I've got wiggle stick mama🤣
@@teen_laqueefa I promise I won't wiggle it here🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love to see this. I get turned off to collecting when I see people glamorizing hedonism and obsessive hoarding of massive amounts of plastic. Nothing wrong with a small collection that means something to you. You don’t have to buy everything they are selling.
Very cool John.
Lol you get turned off because people have more expendable money than you.
@@thomashampton600 lol dude I make well over 6 figures, I can afford any system or game I want at any time.
On the mid to late 90s, I had a weird copy of NBA Jam on SNES. The cartridge was a different shape, size and color, but the game still worked. The weird thing is that none of the codes/passwords for special characters or cheats that were listed in the magazines ever worked for my version of the game. The cartridge was a bit smaller, with round corners, a pinkish white color, and looked nothing like a typical SNES cartridge on the surface. It didn't have the typical grooves and lines on the surface, but looked more like a Famicom cartridge instead.
I'm middle-aged now so I gave up on having a game room like you see on RUclips all the time. I think I had maybe under 20 super Nintendo games and I shipped some to a friend in Canada so he can get his complete super Nintendo in North America collection. Lagoon was one of them and it is definitely one of the best games on that system. Super nostalgic for that as well. Same thing I have a raspberry pi with every game imaginable and as much as I wanted to have a physical collection it's just not financially responsible and feasible at this point in my life
Great video. I always say goof troop is the best couples game. Working together to get through the stages is great. Loved seeing the dirty games. We clean so many to sell and trade our collections sometimes get missed
John's channel is what got me really interested in retro gaming again. His excitement for retro games is genuine.
I'm really happy that you had in a humble way that it sort of resemble my snes collection because I just like you I don't have a big enormous superintendo collection either mine is quite small but that doesn't matter to me I only get the games I actually enjoy I know some people collect all the verison, revsion, special edition, ETC me personally I'm not one those I just enjoy the games that I got in a humble way because that is all about the games is brings the joy of a great Hobby.
I have no idea why, John, but seeing your games in this collection/box like this, really cheered me up this morning when i needed it. I always enjoy your content and your enthusiasm talking about this stuff.
I love how casual your collection feels. Straight out of my childhood.
Excellent collection of games. Super Castlevania IV is my all-time favorite game! I have it complete with inserts and everything. Also, in fantastic condition! I love that damn game!
Thanks John, very interesting to see and hear about your snes collection. Glad you mentioned 7th saga, I love that game. It's fun to get games with stickers on them, they tell a story.
I love your videos, you have a great personality & you have lots of interesting things to say. You remind me of one of my best friends.
After watching your both collection videos, I am really surprised your collection is that small, especially for knowing so much about retro games.
My brother & I had a small paper in grade school. It made about $80 monthly, we owned a small collection but we rented 2 or 3 games each weekend together. Some we rented again every now and then. That was our only way to play all the ones we were interested in.
Thanks for sharing, John! Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Especially the ones you post about old games you used to love. I never got into turn based games on snes and I wish I would have. The shooters were my favorite. UN squadron is still in my top 10 snes games.
Nice collection! I think smaller is better, because storage for games & accessories can get out of control fast! I still have my original copy of Gradius III with the box & manual that I got for Christmas when it came out! It's so random how for some reason that box survived out of all my snes games. I also found what I'm pretty sure is my copy of The Lawnmower Man(because who the heck played that?)& Total Carnage at a local game store near where I grew up. I wish I still had my original copy of Illusion of Gaia, because that game is amazing an absolute must play! I have Lagoon too, but never got around to playing it, I'll have to give it a try soon, I always forget it's a rpg because of the label, it always makes me think it's more like Populous or something lol.
I'm surprised you didn't have even more games. I image you being huge on Super Nintendo. This is still a wonderful humble collection. Cool video. ^_^
Starting at 6 years old with the 2600. Then moving on at 12 to the NES. The SNES was just the perfect final evolution of the tile and sprite game console. Even though not long after I moved on to PC gaming the SNES is my favorite classic game console. I loved RPG's and the SNES had the best ones. If I could only have one home console past or present it would be the SNES.
I used to keep all mine in the same drawer as him but lost them all during life's hardships. Things turned around and I started restoring my collection and then some. Spent thousands so far, especially making sure my favorites and most RPG's come CIB, plus every cartridge has a dust cover, but it is awesome to see this collection just haphazardly lumped, a few with cracks and a lot with dirt and residue and stickers. We all can use more of that chill
That is quite a nice collection! i have a cabinet full of SNES games, but like you said, with a Raspberry Pi, Steam Deck, Anbernic devices, etc. I haven't had the need to take them out.
Some SNES games I have that you didn't mention: Joe and Mac (loved the large dinosaur graphics), NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat II, Super High Impact, Chuck Rock, Super Off-Road, and I'd have friends come over and we'd play Clue, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy! I have a lot more but don't want this post to be too long.
Fun seeing your diverse SNES collection and hearing your thoughts about them.
I keep most of my retro games in boxes and some on a shelf. Great video John. I'll be recording a video like this soon for my channel. I have about 30 or 40 SNES games.
I did the whole "original box" collecting thing, many moons ago...such a chore. I like the idea of yeeting the packaging (recycle, if possible).
I keep my game in a old Lawn Mower box. The rest I hoard them on hard drives. The only snes I had growing up is "Mario all stairs with World". I remember going to the video rental place and see their loads of games and renting some. Shame they don't do them anymore. Redbox and Netflix sorta do something like that.
I had gotten an SNES for Christmas in 1995. I got Super Gouls and Ghosts, F Zero, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Lemmings, Smart Ball. Later on I got Super Mario All Stars and The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. I did not think Super Gouls and Ghosts was not that hard. I got to the second to last stage with the goddess bracelet and could not get past the boss no matter how many times I tried. I missed out on all the JRPGs but I was ok with it. Simple times.
Good stuff. Thanks for the video, John.
I hit my limit on the snes and I’m happy I got the games I want and even duplicates. Best system ever!
I used to go to St. Jacks in Terrace Heights next to 7-11! Awesome video as usual!
I was never on that side of town. I was a block way from Crazy Mikes so didn't need to go anywhere else.
Awesome video game review keep up the good work!
Nice collection! I still have a decent collection. Kept all my games from growing up still in the boxes with books. Your DK Country 2 & 3 were missing unfortunately. DKC games are some of my all time favorites
Love watching all of your videos. Nice collection.
I grew up with the Sega Genesis, though I also enjoyed both the NES and SNES. I didn't own a SNES as a kid, though I had childhood friends and extended family members who owned one, my cousin Rob had the most insane Super Nintendo collection I ever seen back in the day. I started collecting SNES games after I bought a clone system called the "FC Twin" (NES+SNES) about ten years ago.
Packing a lot of goodness in that small plastic drawer. A large portion of your collection overlaps with mine which shows that good games are just good games.
love the video John also interested in that final fight guy 👀
I had a small library of SNES games like that.. they got stolen and i was never able to recover them.. they had my initials crudely etched into them..
Did you store them in a Wal-Mart drawer thingy?
This video makes me like you more! You're a normal person! Keeps your games in a box like a real man.
I have two Sterilite containers with SNES games. Only have one shelf that I have games on and only because it saves space. All the other games I have are boxed up or packed away. I also learned my lesson trying to wipe off stickers and residue off my carts back in 2005, when I destroyed not one, but two game labels (Hagane and Power Rangers: Fighting Edition), not knowing better with what I was doing. Oh well. Now I just keep all that stuff on the cart. Honestly, I think it is a fun way to follow the journey of where the cart has been before it came to be with me.
I love your happy mood.
It's nice to see I'm not the only one who isn't trying to catch em all. Curation has value.
All bangers, that's a very curated collection nice!!
what a great collection , all gold.
Since you got so few games , you could do a fast Google doc with the list, maybe already in alphabetical order. It would be easy to add stuff as you go, keeping it organized, and you'll know when you would get dupes and plan ahead.
Memento app also. Very easy to catalog a collection. Simply type name, and the box art, screenshots, and descriptions will auto populate.
lol that purple light makes you look baked AF John !
Awesome collection! 😀
Nice collection. Mine isn’t exactly huge. However I enjoy Shadowrun. It doesn’t seem to get a lot of attention. Otherwise you mention a bunch of classics I also love. Keep up the good work. I enjoy watching your videos.👍
yeah I feel you I recently started an SNES collection (my little brother has our original system and most of the games we had!) so I only have about a dozen games between SNES and SFC) I bought a retron 2 just to help with starting the collection, and it doesn't need any modification to fit SFC stuff so that's a nice bonus. definitely some of these on my wishlist to pick up at some point!
It's so relateable you keep them in a plastic drawer! I keep my games in a couple IKEA boxes... And my N64 games are in a plastic bag lol. They're all unboxed as well. I bought them to play, not to look at.
My husband and I were talking about this same thing. We only collect what we play or want to play.
It's refreshing to see someone that's into the collecting and the retro scene that's not a quarter of a hoarder. I adhere to collecting what's monetarily feasible and won't go beyond what I'll actually play. The price of Super Mario RPG keeps climbing but I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my childhood SNES collection (process has taken me 12 years) so I paid $20 over pricecharting and got a good condition copy. Totally worth it, have played it every night and it's taking me back. Won't buy something that will just sit on a shelf.
I used to have a lot more but have been slimming my collection at local game expos the past few years, little by little.
Nice to see you have a copy of The 7th Saga. It’s a hard game but I liked it and it’s worth playing.
Fire striker! Thats the game ive beem trying to find the name of forever. Back in 1994ish my friend and i went to walmart. I purchased breath of fire and he got fire striker. I uses to fall asleep leveling up after school but id wake up a few levels higher everytime. Ahhhhh no responsibilities. Thanks!
jealous how you collect games its refreshing my friend cheers
I agree, there are so many ways of playing these games without needing the actual game or hardware. I was thinking about getting a MiSTer, but my intel NUC running Batocera is doing fine for a fraction of the price.
That is a lot of RPGs in my wishlist. I have not touched my games in over a year and I still need to play my FF2.
Keep up the good work bro
I believe in quality over quantity.i used to have hundreds of games, but once I realized alot of the games I'll never play,I thinned out my collection.now I have about 70 games, and plan on buying more.but for the past 7,or 8 months,I've been trying to play through what I already have.
Mole Mania is sick! I love hearing the stories about peoples experiences bitd
Nice collection
I have only 25 games for my SNES but I've played the ever loving heck out of each and every one of those games.
I agree I tend to leave the store stickers on the cart.
I love old games it reminds me of a good times we used to have
Admirin' all of them dust covers. I only need around 100 to put my entire library in safe plastic pants!
Hey, John!
Nice collection, man... But I really assumed u had more carts, like DKC 1, 2 and 3, Mehgaman X 1, 2 and 3, and Megaman 7, Hagane and all the big ones...
Really didn't expect u to have Bebe's Kids, man... lol
Still, nice collection, man... gutta love the SNES... Cheers!
My bro John Riggs got his head on straight 🚬
For the record so do I!
Great collection, many excelent games.
Had imperium ad a kid and loved need to pick it up again for sure great shmup
You need to beat Chrono Trigger. Period.
Also I really want that Final Fight Guy!!!
Arcade ports like NBA Jam and street fighter II series are the best for any tequila occasion. Such games I don’t buy or sell, I only play for keeps 😁
You got more than me. The only snes games I have are Mr Do, Arkanoid, and a homebrew Classic Kong. Yea I love classic arcade ports
your voice is asmr with video game information to boot
Secret of Evermore is great, seems under appreciated
The magic and economy systems are very very clunky, so a lot of people can’t get into it 😢
Phillips’s Castle Music hits hard, I feel the same about Lagoon
Willow Pill hands! What an unexpected reference!
I sort of have a way bigger collection, but to the best of my knowledge, my younger brother has all of the physical copies of our games. I basically bequeathed them to him. He has three little kids that might some day actually find those retro gaming cool. Based on pure speculation, and between myself and two brothers, I would guess we have about 40 titles. Small change in the entire catalog. But we were kids of the SNES era. This was THE gaming platform when all of us were growing up. I think you and I are actually the same actual age, if we can discuss that. And did you say Grave's Disease....? Me too, brother!
I think I'm going to make my own video on the subject. You'd inspired me to do so. At least my snes and nes collections are both less than 40 physical carts.
A nice solid collection John!
Idk about collecting, but I can assure you (as someone who is obsessed with and loves everything gaming). There are not nearly as many retro games that hold up and are worth revisiting.
Because the collectors market is so slanted, I would only choose to own games I wanted to play semi regularly. Given this, I'm not surprised that you don't have a massive physical collection.
Like this style of videos John, do some more for other consoles.
I really enjoyed playing through Illusion of Gaia of couple years back, and I love Kirby's Dream Course (reminds me of yahoo pool w/ power ups) - I also have some grimy stickered up rental games in my collection - I believe the Japanese call it Wabi Sabi (seeing the story of something thru it's weathering, passage of time) -
If you love Illusion of Gaia, do yourself a favor and play Terranigma either via emulation or reproduction cartridge.
Absolutely a 10/10. Don’t miss it!
@@chriskoschik391 yes, I definitely need to play Terranigma - it looks incredible -
👾💥👾
Impressive collection. Some rare and $$$ titles.
Kirby's Dream Course is such an underrated game, I sometimes think I'm the only one who ever remembers it.
Great vid. I think I know why you have two copies of Super Mario World? It's because it's two variants. I have the same variants too! 😆
i think you are officially my favorite nerd on the internet
You should try Secret of Mana again with one of your kids! It’s more fun when you play multiplayer, and could be a good memory for them! You MAY be able to play 3 player, but I don’t remember.
I have a friend who’s obsessed with Bae Bae’s kids. I have no idea why 🤣
You're clearly a lucky guy, an official Final Fight Guy carts of the SNES is probably one of the hardest game to grab, keep it and don't part with it, expect many collectors out there that want it pretty badly...
Good philosophy John...I need to trim down my collection. Keep the ones that mean something to you and get rid of the rest.
8:00 Riggs, is the Back to the Future II (for the Super Famicom) the only cartridge that lights up?
That's really cool (or as Marty McFly would say,"That's heavy").
The creator of that made a few but not many.
@@JohnRiggs I wonder why nobody and you thumbs up my comment about Wild Guns?
I felt like I'm the only one who put the OG Wild Guns in my top 10 favorite SNES games of all time.
I used to go to four star all the time to rent NES and N64 games. We also bought games for or NES there too.
Royal Rumble for me is the best wrestling game on the snes! Could be nostalgia but it’s the only one I still have. Illusion of Gaia probably the most underrated of the snes games. Played it almost as much as a link to past loved it. Fun fact it was called illusion of time over here. Most do a little video series comparing some titles / artwork ntsc vs pal so many variations out there!
The week I get a snes kick my favorite RUclips makes a snes video! Let’s go! 💪🏻
I'm always surprised by all the untalked about SNES games. A lot of interesting hidden gems in the SNES library that nobody ever talks about
,When I saw the Pink cart ..i was like OOoooo WHATS THAT~!! :O
Your channel is pretty nice!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
I still have my NES, N64, and Super NES collection. I'll be able to play them again soon.
Firestriker is a nice Coop game! Definitely worth a playthrough!
Nice Lagoon CIB man. Truly an underrated game. I use to rent it. Took me a years to finally beat it, but always feels good when you conquer an RPG/JRPG. 😃
I never knew about Firestriker. Sadly I just checked the price for the cart and man its too freaking expensive. 😔
However if you have a Switch there is a game almost similar i recommend.
Its a digital only game called Strikey Sisters. Its done by DYA Games. They got some awesome indie games.
Check there games out if you never played them on the Switch. Best part if you wait most of them go on sale dirt cheap if you keep em on your Wish List.
WHAT you have never beat Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana!? 🤨
I can completely understand. Both games are definitely long. You have to have patience. But there worth it! 😃
Secret of Mana
When it comes the Secret of Mana best thing you should do before you go to the final part is make sure you have all of your weapon Lvs and Spell Lvs Maxed out
along with your items. Trust me the final boss is a pain.
If you get the Mana Collection on the Switch it has all 3 Mana games including for the first time the one we never got that some call
Secret of Mana 2 that for a long time was a japan import on Super Famicom.
Chrono Trigger
This was one of the very few games at its time that had multiple endings and some you couldn't even
unlock on your first go through. Good thing though is it was one of the very few games on the SNES that had New Game+ once it beat it once
so you didn't have to completely go through the game empty handed and still kept what you had from the last game.
I personally though prefer the DS version because it includes the extra endings we didn't get when on the SNES version at that time,
also you get to watch some cool anime scenes done by the artist who brought us Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z since he did the art for
Chrono Trigger and Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games.
Still awesome games you got there JohnRiggs. As always thanks for your videos,
Lol, a lot of those later SNES RPGs I never played either, but because of poverty! People will tell me their memories of playing Chrono Trigger when it came out, and I don't have anything to share because we were really broke in those times. And to me, it didn't make sense to rent it if I might not finish it. But I do have really fond memories of Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures because of that!
I know your feelings man for most of my life we couldn't afford a computer in my house. Now that I can afford it I don't care for it!🤔
Lagoon is awesome the music is really good
