  • Gallery views of The Costume Institute's spring 2018 exhibition, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, narrated by exhibition curator Andrew Bolton.
The Costume Institute's spring 2018 exhibition features a dialogue between fashion and medieval art from The Met collection to examine fashion's ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism.
In The Met Cloisters, the exhibition focuses on designers who've been inspired by monastic orders, but also the seven sacraments of the Catholic faith.

Stunning, beautiful, inspiring, glorious! I wish I could travel to see it in the flesh. Thank you for offering this film of it.

Heidi Siemer it was one of the most beautiful exhibits I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. Although both locations were breathtaking, I definitely preferred the collection on view at The Cloisters.

Although I was born and raised in a Hindu family in India, and am an atheist, I must admit, seeking inspiration from religion, which gives so many people hope and a sense of belonging seem to be a beautiful idea. I have always found the aesthetic of Christianity absolutely beautiful, and even though I've never been interested in fashion, this video and the Met's entire fashion related collection and artworks have given me a newfound respect for this art form.
The Cloisters look absolutely heavenly, but what surprised me most were the stunning headpieces in the Early Gothic Hall, inspired by the Cult of the Virgin! The stained glass dress and the headpiece of the soft blue dress with a pierced heart before it were my absolute favourites!
Hope i can actually visit this beauty

The Cloisters really made this exhibit. I hope another costume show makes its way there some day. Such a gorgeous space, and truly worth the pilgrimage.

Very beautiful creations! The nuns hats were the zen of minimalism. Loved it! The rich architectural settings were so dynamic compared to the emotionless walls of a museum. The fashions came alive against this backdrop.

I'm so sad that I missed this. I was in New York City when this was opened but I wasn't able to go due to time. Thank you so much for filming this, I wish I could back in time and see this in person. This is truly stunning exhibition.

It was a beautiful exhibit. I went on the last day. The cloisters and the MET 5th had the most gorgeous pieces on display. I loved that the medieval wing of the 5th Ave location was used. You should buy the catalog. Sorry you missed it.

I was shocked with this music. It is "Le di a la caza alcance" by Michael Nyman,. You can hear it in this link: ruclips.net/video/ALwNdfpzuT0/видео.html

You put "Islamic prayer mats" on a piece of clothing, then you called it "relate to the idea of the Crusades" 😂😂very not logical
Also I'm not sure if homosexuality came with Jesus's version of the religion.
    My respect ❤
