I feel like especially the ‘break’ years are very interesting to listen to in this podcast because it really changed their style and built their character in a different way
amount of talking in this:
Ashton 80%
Luke 14%
Michael 6%
Calum *looking through his notes*
literally him the last few episodes 😂
I thought I was the only one who noticed that 😂😭
amount of talking in each episode you mean
that's the most cal thing ever lmao , 😂
It's damn hard to be a Calum girl
these podcasts are the only things getting me through life rn

Hi sis💛💚💙❤🇮🇪
no literally
even though the pop punk songs weren't hits played on the radio, i think they're the songs that left the biggest marks on 5sosfam. just like 5sos, we have grown and matured since 2014/2015 and that also meant growing to appreciate other music genres. i'll admit i wasn't sure how to feel about youngblood at first because self-titled was the album that really drew me in, but its years later and i have developed a special place in my heart for their newer sound.
You couldn’t have said it any better🖤
I feel you
yes yes yes this is the exact way i felt when youngblood came out
Meh I still don’t like Youngblood , but I like the other newer songs like ghost of you
you really put my feelings into words wow.
maybe the pop punk songs weren't insane successes, but I think they always will be a success to the 5sosfam. We support any direction in music genre you guys go ❤️
Absolutely, they were what got me into pop punk. Some of my favorites from them are their pop punk songs too.
Exactly I was just shocked when at 12:12 when ash said sounds good feels good wasn't a huge success, like money, hey everybody, she's kinda hot, San Francisco, those were all amazing songs
TRUEE
Dude sgfg will always be my favorite 5sos album, it is top tier
I think right now the punk rock is kind of getting more and more popular and quite a lot artists had collaborated with travis barker and made such hits, so i think if the decide to try again that genre, it would be well received
When Ashton was talking about being a punk rock band turning into a pop band all I could think about was Michael saying I can do what I want I’m punk rock😭😭
I love how interesting it is to learn more about their journey and how the industry and how being in a band works, it's something that's not really explained by other artists and it's really cool that they're sharing that with us and like really explaining they're experience of the last ten years and stuff...yeah idk, it's cool
yes
I agree fully.
even though 5sos didnt see much success with sounds good feels good that album literally saved my life & i wouldnt be here without it. to the fans it means everything and i think that’s enough 💛
True true
Michael was sad when the whole “Safety Pin” side of the band/ fandom relationship got changed (dropped) as SGFG was a real honest album
Almost 13 whole minutes of calum hood not speaking, i love this man
them going through every year one by one brings back so many memories i can’t handle this
It’s amazing to hear how well spoken Ashton is. I’m not saying that because he’s my favorite member, I’m saying that as someone who likes to hear other intellectually comprehensive people. Intellectually stimulating conversations are a plus for me. So Ash, you are a very intelligent person! 😁❤️
Yeah so true..it's such a joy watching and listening to him in interviews..plus he has such great sense of humor and wit..for me that's what i find attractive and sexy in him..
im patiently waiting for fetus 5sos to be their profile picture
i can taste the fringe just thinking about it
favourite comment
Well it's here, but back when I was first becoming a fan, that picture wasn't considered fetus 5sos so now I feel hella old lol
I know that a lot of other people have already said this, and I know that conventional success is important to a band’s career, but SGFG was successful in so many ways and has meant so much to so many people. It’s the first time I can remember really listening to a song and feeling like the people who wrote it had written it about my life. Maybe it’s partially because this album came out when I was a teenager figuring a lot of things out, but the songs hold up for me now too. So, thanks for that!!
Ashton is sooooooooooo well spoken.
i could listen to these four talk for the rest of my life and feel blessed. it’s so fulfilling and surreal in a way to hear about them discuss every year after supporting this band for so long
we appreciate your effort in rebuilding and relearning how 5sos should work, sound, and feel like and we're proud to see that it finally paid off when you released youngblood. 2017 was definately a weird time for the fandom as we're eager to hear more from you while anticipating your festival shows. we're sorry to hear that you felt alot of pressure due to your songs "not doing well" but we'd like to let you know that it still helped us move forward with life and celebrate it with friends that we met because of you. proud of you always ♡
i’m so glad i got drawn into these guys. not only is their music incredible but they themselves are such amazing, genuine people. i’ve been a fan for about 8 months now and they’ve helped me so much
welcome to the fandom! fellow ranboo enjoyer
@@aster5600hi 🇵🇭🫶🏻🙂
ok but as a musician, studying is such a huge part of being a musician that most people don’t talk or think about. i’m so, *so* glad that ash brought that up bc it’s so vital to being a successful musician and it’s not nearly talked about enough
It’s crazy to think that the record label didn’t think sounds good feels good didn’t do well…it’s my favorite album still and I think it’s one that resonates a lot with the fans still.
Damn I didn’t realize 2017 was so important to growth for these guys. Makes me respect how much they put into their craft for Youngblood
Rock in Rio was definitely my highlight of 2017. Absolutely iconic concert & that guitar battle will for sure live on forever in my mind!!
All their voices are so therapeutic, I could listen to them talk about music all dayyyyy ❤️
I'm waiting for 2014 mainly to hear still undiscovered stories about WWATour. Those nine together where pure chaos and we're all still living for it!
These podcasts have saved me 😭💐💘🏡 I love every word you say 🛐
ashton in host mode is the only thing keeping me going rn
this was an ERA.
I feel like the guys don’t give themselves enough credit that they deserve. They were still kicking some ass even when they thought they weren’t, ex.) rock in rio in 2017
sounds good feels good means so much to me and it makes me a bit sad they don’t see it as successful just because none of the singles went viral. it influenced and helped so many people the lyrics were deep and relatable. sounds good feels good era was a magical time for me and i will always love this album so so much and i’m sure a lot of people feel this way. i hope they know that and it means something to them.
Calum took his cap off for about one whole minute lol
Ikr I’m waiting for 2014, 2013 and 2012
Youngblood will forever be my favorite album
I'm seriously in love w these 5sos podcasts 😭❤️
Shout out to the old me
And everything you showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me
No one could control me
Left my lovers lonely
Had to f*ck it up before I really got to know me.
This lyrics define the episode...literally, so proud of them 🍀
I LOVE YOU
SUMMER TOUR 2017 🔥🔥🔥 CHILE 🇨🇱 ❤️
Learning all these details about your journey as a band is really fascinating and we have the opportunity to understand more a lot of things that we didn't know anything about.
I have to admit that as a hardcore fan at the time, the hiatus really affected me. The break was kind of a blessing in disguise because I realized how badly being a "groupie" affected my life: it was at a point where it was unhealthy.
So thank you for taking care of yourselves! And myself at the same time, I guess.
PS: It's really interesting to hear what your thought process was during the hiatus.
I love this show. I feel like it really helps us understand and piece things together over the years
SGFG may not have been super successful commercially but to the fans it was something very special, especially being a teenager then. There were some masterpieces that came out of that album that i often go back to like Jet Black Heart and Outer Space/Carry On. That album holds so many memories and nostalgia for SO many people.
Calum did not say a word in this entire episode
In 2017 you came to Argentina and was one of the best concerts of my life... I miss you, i'll love you forever guys❤️ wherever you are
I could listen to Ashton the whole day
I love the way all of them talk about their previous years, the journeys, the ups and downs and what they've learnt from it- because tbh it can apply to any life situation, and their experiences, words of wisdom- they truly help to keep me motivated. I love this podcast sm, it's getting me through a lot rn and I'm just so, so, so glad to be part of this wonderful fandom ❤️❤️
I was in the show that u guys played in Argentina, i remember how that changed me, i remember i cryed a whole week after bc i couldnt believe that i saw my favorite band from all times. This band means so much to me, you guys went through everything with me.
CALUM FINALLY TOOK OFF THE TRUCKER HAT 5SOSFAM STAYS WINNING
i’m so grateful for these podcasts. we finally get to know their thought processes and growth behind the great albums they released in the past few years
This is so interesting! SGFG was and probably always will be my favourite record of theirs. I had no idea it hadn't been popular in general
so grateful for these, love you
these podcasts are the only thing im looking forward to i stg

i’m going to rewatch these podcasts over and over instead of going to therapy
i love this band so much the way they explain their experiences makes them feel so human. they just seem like old friends and not celebrities
i’ve been very excited for this episode since the podcast was announced. primarily because youngblood hadn’t been released and it had been a while since sounds good feels good and even longer since their last hit single. definitely one of my favorite episodes
5sos is Best
Omg I just love them 🥺
These podcasts are the best thing you have ever done, so funny and intresting at the same time
I love the fact that they put a lot of intelectual effort in the songs they write, that shows so much professionalism 👏🏻
Damnnn, these podcasts, especially this one, is such an eye-opener of what was exactly happened in those years. Because I just thought they took some kind of mini hiatus for themselves. Ahhh so glad you guys took the time to rebuilding the band💛
I love cals hair sm
Thank you For making my life more beautiful with your songs !!
What im realising listening to these vids is that new sounds are always being created, and that is how genres are created. So they looked up to bands like good Charlotte and that pop punk scene, and that sound made sense and resonated at that time. But life goes on, and people resonate with different sounds as time goes on. Which is where the youngbloods and calms are born.
Eventually, 5SOS will create their own genre, and it will be the sound of the moment in time that we exist.
So now I'm approaching their music so much more open minded and excited for whats to come.
the way i’m not even listening i’m literally just staring at cals man bun
I’m loving these
I just SOOOOO HAPPY YOU GUYS ARE BACK😭 MY HEARTTTT💓
I love this. Also, Ashton is so buff, omg.
I'm from São Paulo and when they announced they were coming to Rock in Rio, i knew i needed to go and GOD it was AMAZING. The energy, the feeling of screaming those songs that i've listened for so many years and having the chance to see you guys and know that you loved as well is very nice. Here since 2013, till God knows when. Brasil loves you, boys!!!!!!! 🇧🇷
good start to a day :)
IM OBSESSED W THIS SERIES IM GONNA CRY
I am motivated by this, thanks for sharing
So glad you stayed true to yourselves♥️
Ashton “VENGEANCE” Band: “yup” 😂😂😂😂 love you guys
SO EXCITED
I love hearing about the behind the scenes of the break between SGFG and Youngblood. No matter what direction you boys will go in, I will always follow💜 I am how no matter how many “pop hits” you guys have, you are still true to your roots.
miss you in brazil so much ❤️
i love these so much
SGFG was such a great album and even if it didn’t do well in terms of business, that was such an important album for me and for many other people. You guys should be so proud of yourselves! Love you four, so much!
