2018 was the year I realized that this band was “not just a phase” for me. I had not realized how much I missed these boys when they went on hiatus, and was so excited when you started to release music for the Youngblood era. On top of that, 2018 was a really hard year for me. Youngblood was released at the most perfect time, I was so broken and felt so alone. You guys helped heal my broken heart, and I am so thankful to have you boys and your music in my life❤️

In Australia as of today (27 November 2021) Youngblood (the single/song) is the 11th best selling single OF ALL TIME, it's the most streamed Australian song OF ALL TIME on Apple Music, it's gone 13x Platinum, it's played on Australian radio DAILY still, it's number 4 on the songs of the decade (2010-2019) in Australia and it's charted on the Top 20 every week for over 3 years (187 weeks and counting)

The aesthetic of the Youngblood era is absolutely iconic.
The change of genre didn't really affect me because I was always a fan of pop-rock, but I can understand that it was pretty hard for some fans to transition from punk-rock to pop-rock.

Haven’t watched them in forever but loving these little animated scenes
i love how they decided to go from the present to 2011. Piecing together the music with what they were going through in each year is a completely different perspective.

Youngblood has such a special place in my heart. It lit a fire within me, and it will forever be one of my favourite albums ❤️
Same for me!! I love all of their music, and they keep raising the bar for themselves. However, because Youngblood was their comeback album and it was released when I was going through a really hard time, it is an album that will always hold a special place in my heart. It is an album that feels so personal to me, and so magical. Ugh I cannot put into words how much I loved this album and these boys🥺

I hope the boys talk about their mental health too. It was apparent that throughout the years they suffered and it's seen in their individual album. I'd love to hear how they came out and grew up together and are now engaged. I'm interested in them as humans too not just musicians

They’ve grown so much with their music and as a fan it’s great that our music tastes have grown together, I hope to see them in concert again someday!

I remember streaming the Youngblood album over and over on Spotify. I would listen to it when I was awake and at night,, I put earbuds in my tablet so I could have it streaming while I was asleep. I remember the steep competition between you guys and the Carters and Twitter was crazy trying to get everyone to stream the Youngblood album. I'm so glad our hard work paid off and you guys got that number 1!!!
5SOS and Seventeen! My respect for these 2 bands are immense!
Seventeen also had to do everything from writing to producing to composing to choreographing...like everything on their own bcoz their company couldn't afford it (was on the verge of the bankruptcy), n now they are known as the best original self-producing idols who helped their company from ditch!

- Ash dice que en 2018 ya estaba el álbum hecho, que hubo una vez donde Ash recogió a Calum con su coche para ir a los ensayos y parecía que Cal estaba algo medio desanimado, así que Ash le dice que tranqui, que se van a comprar una malteadas porque Calum ama las malteadas. Cashton terminó en McDonalds y después de eso chocaronxd y que aún así fueron al ensayo lol.
- Luke dice que se estaban a nada de terminar el álbum, que eso significaba llegar a ello, a escoger el single (Want you back). También dice que era un gran logro después de un 2017 donde buscaban y trabajaron para crear algo que estaba básicamente en la nada a poder llegar al punto de lanzar Want you back.
- Luke también menciona que sabían que estaban en el inicio de lo que sería la nueva era, pero que también sentían que hacer una búsqueda en cuanto a como la banda será para los próximos 10 años y como nació el 5SOS III Tour, que eran pequeños conciertos donde tocaban el nuevo álbum, visitando a la fam en distintas partes del mundo.
- Mike dice que en Suecia era muy pequeño el vestidor y que tenía muchos espejos, que por más a donde fueras, siempre te veías en los espejos y pss era extrañoxd. También dice que cuando veían a la audiencia era como "Wow, se siente como si regresáramos al inicio", que se sentía como empezar otra vez.
- Ash dice que la meta principal de estos shows era para mostrar el nuevo sonido, reescribir la banda y reconectar con la fam, por eso no nombraron el tour con un nombre tan extravagante o extremo, para así mostrar a la gente el nuevo sonido, sonido que esta vez no sería un punk rock.
- Mike menciona que al estar con el 5SOS III Tour creían que Youngblood (single) tenía que ser lanzada primero, dijeron "Hay que lanzarla, si pre-ordenan el álbum tienen de regalo Youngblood".
- Ash dice que Youngblood (álbum) iba a ser el primero como en streaming streaming y que por ello tuvieron que ir a Apple music, Spotify y a Dezeer a introducirse ellos mismos y al álbum (cosa que nunca habían hecho), mostrando el nuevo sonido a lo que les dijeron que se tenía que crear una alianza para así se aceptara el nuevo sonido de la banda y pudieran tener otro shot/hit.
- Youngblood comienza a tener mucho streaming y atención, por lo que una persona australiana de su sello en Australia les dice que deben lanzar Youngblood como un single en Australia en vez de Want you back. y los chicos dijeron "Ok, intentemoslo".
- Poco a poco Youngblood fue creciendo en Australia, para después crecer en el resto del mundo y convertirse en un hit. Mike también dice que fue tanto la popularidad y el crecimiento de Youngblood en todo el mundo, que a la gente no le quedaba de otra más que escuchar la canción, pues se escuchaba en todas partes.
- Ash menciona como todo el impacto de Youngblood fue un gran momento para los chicos, como era una de las primeras veces en las que les pasaba esto y también a la música australiana, ya que casi siempre se lanza (ya sea un single o un álbum) primero en USA, tratando de que explote ahí, para después hacerlo en Australia o en otros países. Lo increíble era que esta vez era primero un exitazo en Australia (y que aún continua en el chart australiano con una gran cantidad de streams desde que se lanzó en 2018).
- El ver crecer a Youngblood y evolucionar hasta llegar a lo que hoy conocemos como un TEMAZO fue una experiencia asombrosa para los chicos, porque después de todo un 2017, en donde no sabían muy bien que hacer o como hacerlo, fue que recibieron una reacción/contragolpe para seguir persiguiendo todo lo que quieran lograr.
- Calum dice que a muchas personas les enseñaron Youngblood y que a todo mundo les decían que la querían lanzar primero. Que un hombre de su sello discográfico le decía a Ash que una batería en vivo nunca sería tocada en la radio.
- Cal también dice que como a Youngblood le estaba yendo tan bien, a ellos como banda los reconfortaba mucho, porque eso indicaba que ellos pueden mezclar todos los mundos que crean y que aún así, siempre sería entregado (el proyecto, canción o lo que sea) desde un lugar honesto y además de tener un impacto en la cultura de la música.
- Y que el hecho de que ellos son de Australia hace que el logro se sienta aún más especial.
- Ash menciona que durante el lapso de tiempo (donde Youngblood comenzaba a tener más atención) estaban no solo limitados en cuento al tiempo, sino también en cuanto al presupuesto, por lo que no podían hacer cualquier video (ya que tenían muy poco dinero de sobra) y como no tenían tiempo para filmar un video, terminaron así enviando a una persona a Japón a filmar un video sin los chicos.
- Ash dice que esa idea era buena porque ellos en algún punto se llegaron a preguntar que si querían crecer de una distinta forma como banda tenían que dejar de ponerse a ellos en cada portada, para dar así un nuevo rumbo, mostrando una narrativa que representara a la letra, que representara lo que era Youngblood (junto con la cultura japonesa rockanrolera). Así que para hacer Youngblood MV llamaron a una persona con la que habían trabajado en 2011, para ahora trabajar con ellos en 2018, donde querían un video, pero sin ellos.
- Al final terminaron haciendo también el Youngblood MV (alternative version), donde se grabaron durante un concierto del 5SOS III Tour, haciendo lo que podían hacer.
- Luke y Ash dicen que el nombre original para el Meet you there tour era "La vie in blue", ya que, durante ese tiempo estaban tratando de hacer todo de una manera más sofisticada (como Depeche mode), para así mejorar la imagen de la banda, de una forma en la que resonara con el nuevo álbum y con todo el aesthetic de la era.
- A partir del 2018 fue cuando los chicos comenzaron a ponerle más atención y a centrarse en los aesthetics que van mejor con la música, en una forma donde el mundo de lo visual choca con el de la música, mostrando así su cultura, de donde viene, lo que representa en el álbum. También, comenzaron a ser más conscientes en porque llaman de cierta forma a los proyectos y que es lo que significa esos nombres para ellos.
- Los chicos dicen que el Meet you there Tour es su favorito, que el escenario era asombroso, la producción, las luces, los colores, básicamente todo.
- Ash cree que los shows fueron muy buenos, que el tener 3 albumes (hasta ese entonces) fue algo muy bueno y divertido porque podían crear diversas set lists para los shows. Comenzaron a tener una gran temporada para la existencia de la banda.
- Calum dice que se sienten muy agradecidos por esa era, por todo lo que les pasa a partir de la era YB.
- Recuerdan que en noviembre de 2018 ganaron "Best rock act, Best group, Best aussie live act y Song of the year" en los premios australianos "Aria", dicen que fue una locura, que fue una gran noche para ellos.
- Mike dice que el día de los Arias usó un jumpsuit y que era muy bueno porque no sudaba con elxd
- Cal dice que el usó un traje raro de príncipe y que no sabe porqué lol (cada que veo a Cal con ese traje me recuerda a las escoltasxd), Mike dice que el traje era cool.
- Dicen que el tour fue muy largo (3 meses, 42 shows aproximadamente).
- Durante la espera de un vuelo estaban sentados y su manager se les acercó y les dijo "Felicitaciones, son el no. 1 con Yongblood" (recuerden que estaban contra Beyonce y JayZ para el no. 1 en álbum).
- Ash dicen que estaban sentimentales y contentos, por lo que al llegar al otro aeropuerto fueron a comprar mucha comida a McDonalds, "logramos el no. 1, pongámonos locos AAAAHHHHKSJSKWODJWHBELSL".
- Ash dice que el 2018 se basó en como Australia recibió su música, que el ver que fue tan bien recibido Yongblood lo fue todo, pues siempre han querido que en Australia (su tierra natal) los acepte y que los ame:')), que el voltear la página fue algo hermoso para ellos.
- Luke dice que hasta antes de ese momento, toda la carrera de la banda era percebida de una forma distinta, que el público no los entendía bien o que no les gustaba la banda, siendo indiferentes con ellos de alguna forma, pero Yongblood hizo que tuviera sentido para ellos.
- 3 años después del lanzamiento de Yongblood y sigue en el chart con el puesto #12.
- Cal dice que el 2018 fue el año en el que comenzó a ser amigo de los chicos ksjksjksjksj y de conocerlosxd.
- Luke dice que el podcast tenía que empezar al revés, de 2021 a 2011 (cosa que si pasó al finalxd), a lo que Mike dice que sí, que sí deberían iniciar de nuevo lol.
- Luke dice que también sacaron "Lie to me ft. Julia Michaels".

These videos are so interesting as I had no clue they had such a rough impact with Sounds Good Feels Good. In my, and I’m sure thousands of other fans, opinions, SGFG was just the rockier, punker older cousins of the self titled album, and I thought that it was met with great reception. Maybe that’s just because I have a fan’s perspective, because I know it was so popular with fans and still is one of the fan bases favourite era; it’s really interesting and slightly sad to hear how they heard criticism from a managerial end that we never see. SGFG is such an iconic era, album and tour, I remember being so jealous that I didn’t get to see that specific one live because the aesthetic was fucking insane. I can that imagine coming off the back of the self titled one I must’ve been slightly less mainstream, as the songs weren’t as commercial, but it still had an amazing buzz and possibly even better aesthetic than the earlier album. I’m so sorry you boys had such a rough time with the criticism, it hurts my heart to hear how much pressure and cold feedback you boys got; fuck them anyway, the fans fucking love it and you should all be proud, it’s one of my favourite pop punk albums of all time and the songs are just incredible, we all absolutely loved it. Sending you all love❤️❤️❤️❤️Xxx
