    9 years on lexapro for me. Definitely helped with not only depression but my OCD. Glad you're doing these videos, friend!

    I know this video is old. But I stumbled upon it since I started Lexapro recently. Been on it about a month, and I have to say - it’s changed my life. I feel more ambitious than I ever was before. I wonder if it had this effect on you too? My energy is off the charts! I’m more focused at work. I never thought I had depression - but maybe it’s helped that much with my OCD!

      This is just powerful, I can relate to this. I have palpitations from how bad my fear and anxiety is, so I hope the lexapro helps I just started.

    Your videos have been so helpful. I had crippling depression my entire life and finally went to the doctor a few days ago. This is day 4 on Lexapro 10mg and I'm starting to feel like a new person. I hope this continues to work. I definitely understand the "alien" thing and being overly aware of my own body. Thanks again.

    Just started in Lexapro a few days ago and I feel great, but having insomnia and a little increased panic at night. Does that wear away after a week or so? I totally get what you're saying about taking on other's emotions. I was frustrated all the time, had a negative outlook on life because I was so overwhelmed by the slightest thing.

    Thank you so much for telling your story! I have been in and off of lexapro for over a year and I’m actually gonna my back to the doctor tomorrow to get back in the prescription after about 6 months of being off because I thought I was okay and truth is I’m not. You’re very pretty by the way and I wish you the best! We can overcome this!!

    Yay you responded to me :). I finally had the courage to try Lexapro three days ago but only at 2.5mg. I'll probably take 2.5mg for a week then increase it to 5mg (that's the recommended dose by my doctor). Generic Lexapro is hard to cut! Seems to crumble easily. Surprisingly haven't felt much negative side effects, maybe because dose is so low at the moment. I feel tired/sleepy and the first time I felt a slight neck ache strangely. Thank you for sharing your experience and stories with us, Amanda! It truly gave me hope and motivated me to just try.

      jyn88 you can get a pill box with a blade in it that cuts the pills, I started on 10mg but had to cut back to 2.5 mg I worked up to 10mg after 4 weeks and now I've gone up to 15 mg it takes 3 months to get the full benefit I hope

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад

      jyn88 omg it was the worst when I had to do the 2.5 thing because yeah it did crumble! A pill cutter works decently but it still crumbles since it's not designed to be cut into fourths for us sensitive folks. I'm so happy my videos have helped you, please keep me updated on your progress!

      Hi Amanda, I actually stopped taking it yesterday. It was going well (no side effects) first couple of days until the fourth day I started feeling more anxious and always on the verge of a panic attack. It lasted until the 10th day and I decided to just quit it. I kept having tingles, this skin crawling sensation as if my blood was pulsating or something. Really hard to explain. Then it starts to ache my neck and if I try to walk it off I start to feel lightheaded. I felt like I was going insane having to deal with extreme anxiety and panic entire week. Breathing exercises did not help. It was so bad I never got to increase the dose to 5mg as I planned to do after one week of taking 2.5mg.

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад

      jyn88 it's very possible that a different SSRI will work better for your bodies chemistry! I definitely felt really weird for two weeks, I felt like my skin wasn't attached to my muscles and my skin was super sensitive. I thought maybe it wasn't the right medication. The light headed feeling is likely your blood pressure dropping which happens during bad panic attacks before you pass out (happened to me too). If it doesn't feel right definitely let your doctor know and see if there is another route to take. Hang in there love, the process is rocky but I promise when you get the right thing for your body you'll be so happy you powered through

      I had high hopes for Lexapro after hearing your story and everyone else's. I feel a little discouraged but I will keep searching for another. I know a lot of people use benzos beginning of treatment but I avoid taking them. I don't want another medication to rely on and wean off of. Thanks for replying, Amanda :)

    Hey. Your videos have been helpful 😊 I took 5 mg of lexapro for 3 weeks, and already started feeling the benefits. Some side effects like nausea and insomnia were gone, but I still struggled with extreme tiredness and muscle weakness and diarrhea into starting the 4th week. I don't know if these side effects would have gone away, and I basically stopped taking the pill all together because I couldn't handle the tiredness anymore. The problem is that my depression started coming back, which proves that lexapro actually did start working. So now I'm stuck in deciding between my mental health or physical healthy! I feel hopeless and don't know what to do. Plus my psychiatrist hasn't been too helpful and I need to wait 15 days for my next appointment with a new one.

    Thanks for making these videos. I did a lot of research before starting this. I finally decided to start it 10 mg. My biggest fear on any medicine is weight gain. It's been three days so far.. Today I felt like I was in another world for a little bit. Also I take Wellbutrin (300 mg) Adderal( 15 mg twice a day) Kolopin (0.5 to help me sleep). I am taking the Lexopro at night

    Thank you SO much for making these videos....I just started taking Lexapro a few days ago I have struggled with severe anxiety for about 6 years now and have been on Zoloft for about 4 years...my doctor thinks I'm immune to it so she wanted to start me on Lexapro...only on 5 mg now and going up to 10mg in a few days...I really hope this works for me, it's so nice to know I'm not alone. Your courage and bravery is amazing and much appreciated to say the least. 💕💕

    Been on Lexapro 5mg for 6 months now. Also take Buspar 30mg, Lamictal 150mg, and Sequel 25mg for sleep all because of a stupid benzodiazepine that a Doctor gave me nearly a ago for sleep and didn't warn me of what would happen when I quit cold turkey. Messed up my Thyroid and caused me to develop Hyperthyroidism. Was pure hell. Worst thing is the unending heart palpitations. Have to take a beta blocker just to cope with it.

    My anxiety is so bad that it’s affecting my job, my coworkers barely know me and they assume I’m grouchy, they have our pictures on a bulletin board and they put pictures of cartoons next to a group of the coworkers like our personalities, I was in the grouchy group 😢 I feel bad, I didn’t realize my anxiety was affecting the way people viewed me…

    Hi Amanda I’m currently taking lexapro (escitalopram 10mg) for a 1 month and 2 weeks. I’ve struggling with anxiety and depression for 5 years. I finally decided to get medical help and my Dr prescribed me lexapro the 1st week very bad side effects. I was feeling a little bit better with my depression but 5 days I got a very bad anxiety attack and depression I’m broke down which i was very upset because I thinking my medicine is not working. I don’t know what else to do Im so scared. How long does your medicine took to work? Right now I feel very anxious and depressed.

    Do you think antidepressants can benefit anyone suffering from depression/anxiety issues? I've heard they do work but have heard that they don't and are just placebos pretty much

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад

      BlastBurnVGC Pokemon everyone's body chemistry is different, you will react one way to a certain ssri and I will react another. Some will work for me that don't work for you etc. however it's not a placebo because it is actually interacting with your brain. Antidepressants are prescribed for anxiety and depression so yes it can benefit

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад +1

      BlastBurnVGC Pokemon patients may have an initial placebo affect after taking the pill for a short amount of time and feeling better, the same way that your headache may feel better 5 minutes after taking ibuprofen

    • @StrategyOfTheFuture
      @StrategyOfTheFuture 7 лет назад

      What does it generally feel different when a medicine works?

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад

      BlastBurnVGC Pokemon in my own personal experience, I found my anxiety to be more manageable. I did have to add an SNRI & SDRI to really combat my depression. Others have found that an SSRI does the trick for anxiety and depression. Meds are tricky because everyone reacts differently

    Hey! first thanks for these videos because I've too been searching for people dealing with similar experiences on the medication I've been on citalopram for about 3 week first week 10 mg now 20mg I haven't had many side effects but I do get really sweaty in situations that would normally stress me I've also noticed I'm more ADHD then before I started I've got to a point where I look forward to taking the drug it's been so up and down some days I feel very neutral and some days I feel like myself my friends have noticed I'll be really smiley then I'll have a bitch face but I'm not angry ?? have you ever experienced that and negative deep thoughts ? I've also noticed I'm alot more observant like I pay attention to things more closely

    • @4manda4llison
      @4manda4llison  7 лет назад +2

      I believe at the start it is quite normal to have ups and downs. The longer you take the medication (at least in my experience) I've noticed the downs to be more spread out, as in I'll have a lot more good days than bad days. Negative thoughts were always racing through my head, but now I've got that mostly under control. Now instead of having entire bad days or weeks it may only last an hour or two :) I hope I answered your question!

      The Puffie it is possible to stop! I’ve been off for about 6 weeks now. I came off because I was starting other medication for my thyroid and some new ones for other health reasons. I’m still on Wellbutrin but my pill count was getting high so I had to eliminate something. Lexapro helped me a ton and what it did for me still carries over now that I’m off it.
