- Pokemon Competitive Singles in Gen 3 is a real treat. Castform was a Pokemon designed to showcase the all new concept of Weather Synergy. While this Pokemon isn't very good in most formats, down in the ZU tier Castform is King.
70 Stats across the board is actually very good for ZU. And in this format, nothing else can match the Versatility and sheer Power of Castform.

Some will never figure out how to get Castform in Pokemon Scarlet and Castform Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Castform Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Castform Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.

Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on RUclips. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

The fact that Castform doesn't have a sandstorm form must mean that even the devs at Game Freak were afraid of its perfect synergy with Tyranitar.
Its based on a water molecule, so it makes sense not to have a sandstorm form.

My favorite thing about videos describing ZU and PU is when people unironically say stuff like “it’s great coverage for the sweeper horsea that every team needs to be prepared for”

Aipom and Nose pass are respectable, fully evolved Pokemon.

I believe other reasons as to Hail Castform being worse are Weather Ball not getting further boosted by weather like in Sun or Rain, and the lack of a super powerful coverage option that benefits from weather, like Sun (Solar Beam) and Rain (Thunder) have
and 100% accurate blizzards don't exist yet either which if they did would overpower weather ball anyway

Castform should get an evolution, both so that its gimmick can be on a Pokemon with usable stats and so that base Castform can be legal in Little Cup.

Edit: it has ok speed, decent atk/spa and good bulk for offensive mon. If it was added it would likely be high tier or potentially banned

Castform was the MVP of my single player Emerald playthrough when I was a younger kid, clutching out versus Winona and other central NPC's. Glad my baby boy is getting some spotlight in ZU as the Landorus-Therian of the format

@NasJuiced you probably don't realize how busted Castform's movepool is. It gets BoltBeam coverage, Defog to clear hazard, Scald and Hurricane, which never miss in the rain (so everything Pelipper had), Tailwind, Icy Wind and Thunder Wave for speed control, Clear Smog to reset stats,...(well, most of these are egg moves and move tutor moves in US/UM, but still)
@@sekaihunter9378 you forget how great the other's movepools are, ninetails pelipper and torkoal would still be better for most teams and if it's too much you can bump down the stat buff a bit

Castform is a dominant lifeform in the ADV ZU format.
I guess ADV ZU’s fast pace is like Little Cup’s. Tho the level difference means Mons are able to take hits better, the defensive stats don’t reach as high as other formats, meaning offense is still mostly more powerful
Castform in Gen 3 ZU is INSANE, it helped me though so many battles, the tier does not have bulk to deal with their Weather Balls

This sounds like a mix between Gen 3 OU and the weather wars of later gens. Definitely would give this a try
Gen 3 ZU has been a very fun format to dabble in. I've had solid success with a speedy substitute spam team and a strange balanced team I threw together. Have seen many cool sets, Castform in a way is almost like ZU's Celebi with how well rounded and versatile it is.
Hoenn is the place where weather is respected, and feared. There’s so much symbolism around the connection between people and Pokémon, the effect they both have on the world, and the effects caused by the world itself. Castform may not look like much, that’s the point. It’s a representation of the weather itself. Something underestimated because of its every day nature despite the danger it presents. That’s why it’s hidden away in the back of the region, only given to you once you’ve started noticing that symbolism.
I always see people say how they should have given Castform an ability to let him set the weather, and I feel like they are missing the point
Castform wasn't just designed as a weather Pokemon, it was meant to be a weather Pokemom that with it's ability and Weather Ball could adapt to the weather changing on the fly, so it's cool that on at least one format this vision got realized
The idea wasn't bad, Castform just gets betrayed by his mediocre stats,

I remember back in Gen 6 PU making a rain team around Castform and it performed surprisingly well! It’s given me a soft spot for the water molecule.
Castform is my favorite phallic looking Pokémon.
I’ve been saying on every castform video I see to make an evolution that changes types based on terrains as well as weather. And give it access to all moves that interact with terrain and weather (like rototiller, blizzard, rising voltage, and grassy glide)
I think castform would be cool is if you had a weather setting move in the first slot it would auto set that weather and change form

You can choose to invest in Special Attack and Speed and use it as a Speedy special attacker.
New castform evolution/ability: sets the first weather condition in its movepool on switch in.
Lovely video, would like to mention that Onix actually is the usual Sun lead you'll find in ADV ZU with an Endure + Salac Berry set aimed to either take a special hit and Sunny Day or leverage its good physical bulk alongside decent speed to get a Sunny Day off and explode.
ADV ZU is a wonderful format, there are many viable options in the tier. Every teamstyle is just about viable and you can build just about anything you want and it will be viable while using Pokemon who you almost never see in competitive formats like Delibird, Castform, Aipom, some dominant NFE's like Lileep and Wailmer while also some more niche Pokemon like Geodude, Natu, Dratini, and Larvitar.

Other than that though, I quite like Castform, even before it gained more popularity due to certain RUclipsrs being big fans of it lol. I wish it got some kind of later evolution to improve its stats though as well as a sandstorm form

You should have signed up for the ADV ZU spotlight tour! It’s a lot of fun and I really enjoy ADV ZU. The ladder tournament based on ADV ZU will also be very excited. However, ADV ZU is not usage-based like you mention in your video. ZU is viability based and drew on the ADV PU VR several years ago.
Castform is definitely one of the strongest Pokemon in this format. Normal-types are naturally very good in lower tiers because Normal-type resists become much more scarce.
Now imagine if castform had actual stats

I loved tiershift format back in Gen 5 in which I enjoyed a hail/rain double weather team featuring articuno. Castform could have been an interesting choice I didn't consider at the time.
Castform should have been a Legendary.
Castform remains the only pokemon that can reliably change it's own type at the player's discretion (without relying on other pokemon - such as with transform or conversion).
I can't help but feel the 70 base stats were GameFreak being worried about the new mechanic being unexpectedly TOO powerful - which they then stopped caring about the very next game.

I've always been curious how castform wpuld have performed as a flat 100 base stat 'legendary'. Doubt it would have been game changing but I have always wanted it to be better. Pretty cool learning about a format that it is very strong in
Castform's Forecast ability needs to be reworked. it also needs based 90 or 100 in all stats. Forecast needs to change its type and add a 2x speed boost depending on the weather (chlorophyll, swift swim, slush rush, sand rush)
This format is basically just gen 3 LC new Castform mode

Onix is also very fun to use ZU. You can use it to revenge kill, wall Normal types and even trade with Explosion !

What about running light screen on Voltorb? After setting up rain, set up a light screen before exploding? Unless you're at risk of being KOed before you get the screen up, that is.
