Boz Scaggs was the real deal and when he showed up at Muscle Shoals Studios to cut an album it propelled his career and let us all see what a great talent he was and is. Thank you Boz! Mister Duane (Sky Dog) Allman was the rocket fuel for his launch and the Muscle Shoals Horns came in over and around to make an amazing, amazing classic. Thank you to TTB for giving us your interpretation of this fabulous blues tune. Long after phone booths have left the earth this tune lives on!
I've followed the Allmen Brothers from beginning to end and in my opinion, nobody comes closer to "Sky Dog" than Derek Trucks. Thank you, brother! Hell, it was at an Allman Brothers concert in the 70's that I knew I was going to marry the girl I was with, more than forty years have passed since then,
I'm, a huge Duane Allman fan. IMHO Derek is what Duane could have become had he lived. Don't misunderstand, Duane was simply the best there was for decades after his death, and he will always be in my top 5, but, once again in my honest opinion, Derek has the crown.
Mike killed it...What a rendition of a true blue classic. Im old enough to have seen many bands come & go & worked for a few & this is the best band live in the world..perhaps the universe...even, and beyond........and further even...& such...Yea.🍄😜✌️
This revival of a rare gem is the epitome of TTB. Preserving and socializing the past while bringing their own sensibility to the music. I just love this on so many levels.
Of course this is the best version I’ve heard by a full band . At 70 I’ve listened to a lot of the greats try this song and for whatever reason not just any great musician can get this song sounding like it was meant ! But hear we have it 🎶🎶
I fell in love with this track when it was played for me in the 70's with Boz and the ABB. So good to see Susan take a lead break, then Derek. Great version, great vocal by the TTB.. the best
Boz did not record this song with the ABB. He recorded it with Duane Allman as a session payer, at Muscle Shoals, I believe. I have tremendous respect for the TTB but I suggest that you try the version on the Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits Live CD, Gray Cat Records GCG4001. I do not know who the vocalist is here but I find his interpretation very jarring. Check out the approach that Boz Scaggs uses and especially note how Drew Zingg supports it on guitar.
@@michaelcartwright1986 I’m in agreement with you about the version of this song done by Boz Scaggs and Duane Allman. I think that’s THE BEST of all the different renditions done by anyone else, even though I really do like TTB - enough so that I bought tic’s to see them in concert a few months from now. That one by Boz and Duane was released in 1969 I believe, and to date I haven’t come across one that has been done better than theirs! It’s a classic imo❗️
this was one of the first songs the Bluestreak Band from St. Louis Mo. learned, an amazing song i love to play harp on this one, this is one of the most amazing groups playing music today!!
Thanks so much for meticulously cataloging all these musical gems. I was fortunate to have been in attendance for this show, it’s so great to be able to relive the moment!
I missed this video, but have heard it on Tapers Section etc., until today. Why doesn't TTB play this song more often? Derek just ripped my face off with his ending solo. Damn!!
Around this same time I see the Rolling Stones are touring again. I'll take this stuff hands down. Even compared to their younger days this stuff moves me more than any Rolling Stones. I do like their early '70s period with Mick Taylor on guitar but I like this stuff better. Not as raunchy but more earthy.
Terrific version. Mike Mattison is great on vocals and really enjoyed the back up vocals. The whole band did the song justice. I think Boz and Duane would have given it two thumbs up!
And he did a MUCH better job of it. Boz did not record this song with the ABB. He recorded it with Duane Allman as a session payer, at Muscle Shoals, I believe. EPIC track this one fans, let it sound & caress your hearts some more, the best medication above all

Somebody give the thumbs down guy a hug for me. One of the best moments live i ever experienced!

John Guth. I want to see a show with you lol
Seeing TTB in Key West this weekend. Rock n Roll.
Susan can hold her own playing that guitar.

It takes some balls to even dare cover this masterpiece. This is my first listen to TTB, and they killed LMAD in the finest way.
Damn I so remember the first time I heard the original version with Duane & Boz. 🙃

Its simple......it has been a LONG LONG time since a band has put out the quality of music that TTB does. This is exceptional.

Cheers edtyre1. Keep us posted!
Was such a great show last night. Anders started it right as well 😁
Superb yet again
Thank you for these🙏🏽 They are wonderful 🔥
Boz would love this…
It’s scorching!! Fantastic-
Bets
Nailed it
Derek Trucks, the MASTER guitarist (and Susan's solo wasn't too shabby either!)
mike goes get the credit as being a great singer

Mike Mattison ❤️
Hmmmmmmm. Loved him at The Mann. Was so stoned by him can’t remember what he sang.
Terrific version. Mike Mattison is great on vocals and really enjoyed the back up vocals. The whole band did the song justice. I think Boz and Duane would have given it two thumbs up!
How is the Beacon still standing after this?
after making thew 20+years of all man bros. march madness the old lady some how is still standing
I live in the nabe and I can attest The Beacon stands, despite having been burnt to the ground.
Miss Tedeschi gets after it on her turtleshell Telecaster.
She is the bomb
Think their kids will have any chops?
Where’s the bass player?
Church 😂
Got Hammond ?
This is the boz skaggs version, he stole it from the original Fenton Robinson.
And he did a MUCH better job of it. Boz did not record this song with the ABB. He recorded it with Duane Allman as a session payer, at Muscle Shoals, I believe.
