This video deserves way more credit! Im working with the Conan Exiles DevKit which is not the full version of unreal. Every single tutorial I found for rivers especially with elevation changes was using a plugin not available to the Conan DevKit. This solved my Issue!!! Thank you!
I would like a video on how to set up scenery outside of your playable area. Distant mountains, forests and buildings. How to make it blend nicely to the map landscape. How is it normally done in the squad maps?
I will have to look into it. But as far as I know, some of the official maps from squad does not really have extra mountains in the background(i might be wrong but not sure). I think they make their hight maps in a way where there will be mountains in the background outside of the play area

Using this method, will the river act as water in gameplay as well? Will it kill a player by drowning etc. or is it purely aesthetic?
No, it's just for aesthetic. But it will still act as normal water. But it will not kill a player that's something you need to add your self
