A lot of his disses are because of controversies during that time. Hard to understand them if you don't know what happened during that time. For example, the Will Smith diss was because Will basically talked shit about gangster rap during a speech and said "look at me, I won a Grammy and don't curse in my songs". Basically calling out Eminem among others.
Yes! And there is so much more that was happening at the time. He had so many detractors in influential places, but he had two very important factors in his favor. He had Dre and Death Row Records as his platform and support, and he had a genius ability to create "stream of consciousness" lines describing these real life crazy situations and events in very relatable bars that were also seemingly magically built into the flow and vibe of the given production. All the "powers" were against him. The government, MTV executives, pop stars, other rappers, of course nearly all other rappers were black, so it was, by default, race thing. For a good chunk, it WAS a race issue. You just couldn't deny that he was a truth teller, even if it was his own truth. That by itself is attractive to people looking for something more than just a good beat and flow.
At the end of the day he defended his wife. I still dont get why people are so pissed about that. I am not commenting on their relationship because I dont know what happens behind closed doors but Rock was pretty out of line at that point. You cross the line when you make fun of a person illness or disability.
@@occheermommy "you cross the line when you make fun of a person illness or disability" No, you don't. IT is called comedy and it has no boundaries. Also, you know your comment history is public, right? A quick search on a google API show you called someone a "bald loser". So, Alopecia is just the medical term for being bald and you are crying that someone called someone bald, in a comedy show, when you did the same on youtube comments? Quick question... are you a leftoid?
This one has a lot of 90s references. The "bum is on your lips" part is from a song by comedian Tom Green for instance. Fred Durst was the head singer of Limp Bizkit. Carson Daly was the host of a show on MTV that ranked popular music videos called Total Request Live. Christina Aguilera was a pop artist.
Thanks, was going to say this too. Also, Britney Spears was basically the rival of Christina Aguilera. Christina flipped her shit about this song and it became a shit storm, but apparently they made up or something.
For even more context, Will Smith won a grammy and in his speech he basically called out "Gangsta Rap" saying he didn't have to curse or pretend to be hard in his music to win and the Christina Aguilera line is because she was on MTV calling him cute and stuff but then putting his relationship with Kim on blast.
You gotta check out the VMA performance of this song. You should also youtube Christina Aguilera and Eminem to know why he disses her on this track. Hilarious when Christina throws shade live during the VMA’s and then has to present him with the award when he wins. Priceless haha😂
Carson Daily was the host of TRL on MTV when they actually played music. Fred Durst is the lead singer of Limp Bizkit which you should definitely check out their song Break Stuff. Eminem and a bunch of other famous people are in the video.
My favorite part of Houdini was it was in the same comic book style as Without me, but also featured many look-alikes /clones as The Real Slim Shady. Em made a "new song" combining at least two styles from his OG songs! What a beast. He really knows how to tie the knot between present and past!
Carson Daly was the host of TRL on MTV (Total Request Live) which was a daily Top 10 countdown of the most requested music videos that aired in the afternoon when kids would get home from school. Fred Durst is the front man for Limp Bizkit.
There used to be a top 10 music video show called Total Request Live (TRL) hosted by Carson Daly (who now hosts The Voice). Fred Durst was lead singer of a rock band called Limp Bizkit. (Check out the songs "Faith" and "Nookie") those are the 2 ppl Eminem is referring to in this song.
React to “not afraid” or “crazy in love” or “till I collapse” by Eminem, he barely breaths in crazy in love and not afraid and till I collapse are classics
Fred Durst was in a rap group called Limp Bizket, Em actually had a falling out with him and made a distract called 'little girls' definitely another one to react to
Yeah, this whole song is absolutely dripping in late 90s references. "My bum is on your lips, my bum is on your lips." is a reference to a guy called Tom Greene who did the Tom Greene Show. On this show, he performed an entire song, i believe it was called 'the bumbum song' and its exactly as stupid as it sounds. This was during the arrival of shows like Jackass, and Southpark. The Tom Green show was super weird, he quite literally pretended to copulate with a dead deer in the road to prank bystanders passing by. The references go on and on and on in this song. Carson Daily hosted the show TRL, which was the tiktok of my generation. I watched TRL every day after school. The show allowed viewers to vote, allegedly, on the biggest songs that day. TRL was Total Request Live. Back in the day, you could actually request music videos on MTV, like a national radio show that just played whatever song you wanted to hear, and show the video, sometimes in the place of ad breaks. TRL claimed to track those requests and count down the top 20 songs of the day. Carson did this every day for years. The top songs were always pop songs, backstreet boys, Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, rock bands like U2 and Radiohead probably made appearances in the high teens. But the top five songs were always the big pop artists of the time or the flavour of the month like Mambo #5 or Butterfly by Sugar Ray. That was until a few artists came along, namely, Eminem, Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Linkin Park. Nelly might be an honourable mention. But those four artists broke through the pop filter and launched the late 90s early 2000s X-themed deviance of hardcore television and music. Remember the Thong Song by Sisquo? I bought that Album. It was lit.
If he continues to keep getting 100 subs per day or more, which he has been, he will have more than 40K by Christmas which I think is pretty impressive.
Will Smith won an award at the MTV awards and Eminem was in the audience. In his speech will looked at Em and said something like "I'm proud I don't have to cuss to sell records"
Carson Daly was the host of one of MTV's biggest shows, Total Request Live, and Fred Durst was the lead singer of Limp Bizkit, a moderately popular pop rock band form the 90s that a lot of people would make fun of for not being very good.
Carson Daly was the host of trl on mtv back in the day. Fred durst was was the lead dude in limp bizcit. You gotta understand the era where this eminem stuff came from
You gotta listen to his new stuff soon, besides houdini. Death of slim shady mainly but godzilla and kamikaze and venom, etc like they're amazing. Can't wait for you to just listen to his entire discography eventually
the albums that came out after Marshall Mathers LP are "the Eminem Show", "Encore", and "Curtain Call" after you listen to the LP, listen to the songs from those albums. they are just as great.
The real slim shady was the first rap song I ever heard on the radio as a kid, and I remember bopping along to it not understanding most of what he said and watching a group of adults look uncomfortable lol
Carson Daly was a VJ on MTV who hosted TRL, which is total request live what is one of the most popular afternoon music shows on MTV at the time everybody who is anybody was on TRL
Em spat like half the album at his CITA F1 concert last week. Besides Rap God at 1.25x speed, Venom, 3am, Toy Soldier and newer work. He is definitely still killing it. PS: Cant wait for you Remember Me reaction from this LP, that's definitely 'an experience' that won't disappoint 😂
He wasnt talking about Slim, theres a double and Marshal had been warning us of Sean Coombes from all the way back then.. "No wait, youre kidding. He didnt just say what i think he did, did he (Diddy?) 😂
You should really react to the ending rap battle scene from 8 Mile, and then react to "Lose Yourself" which he won an Oscar for. He didn't attend the 2003 Oscars, even though he was nominated for best original song because he didn't think he had a chance of winning. He didn't even know he'd won till the next day because he didn't stay up to watch the awards either, since he had to get Hailie up for school the next day. His appearance at the 2020 Oscars to perform the song is one of the best kept secrets of live performances at the awards show's history.
I’m glad you’re still going down this path! I saw you react to Without Me a couple months ago. Obviously you see why GenX will always defend Eminem and why he’ll always be relevant. Like others said the live MTV version is epic. Looks like I’ll have to sit down with your reactions today 😊
No one know this outside the valley I’m from in So.Oregon. But when this single dropped a friend and local DJ played this song on repeat (local pop station) for 1hr 50min! He took calls and said it was an issue, then quit(was leaving anyway) broke the key off in the door and left! I was a shit thing to do but a fuking glorious time to listen to the radio! True story… enjoy
I've now watched you experience Ren and Eminem for the first time. I want to see you react to Falling in Reverse. Start with Watch the World Burn, Popular Monster, Or Prequel.
A good song from Eminem in 2002 a lot of people probably don't know about is "HellBound". It's a co-lab with J-Black & Masta Ace, produced by DJ Rob. Check it out sometime!

Limp Bizkit is Nu Metal
It was lit.
Barely into the vid and bro is already busting to the music 💀
Real shi
Verticile is my favourite youtuber. Can't wait for streams to start again. Can't wait to see you reach a mil
My favorite reactor for sure
If he continues to keep getting 100 subs per day or more, which he has been, he will have more than 40K by Christmas which I think is pretty impressive.
Dont know who Fred Durst is? Get to reacting to Limp Bizkit asap my dude! Eminem and Limp Bizkit went hand in hand in the late 90's! You will love it!
I was just listening to this when this video dropped
5:23 best part
Will Smith won an award at the MTV awards and Eminem was in the audience. In his speech will looked at Em and said something like "I'm proud I don't have to cuss to sell records"
Carson Daley was an MTV VJ when this song came out , he hosted a show called Total Request Live. Fred Durst was lead singer of the band Limp Bizquit.
I still vividly remember being 5 years old watching this video and the MTV awards performance. PEAK Em 🥲

There were so many references to my childhood in the 90s that you just couldnt comprehend lol. This song was beyond what you probably think it is.

Carson Daly was the host of one of MTV's biggest shows, Total Request Live, and Fred Durst was the lead singer of Limp Bizkit, a moderately popular pop rock band form the 90s that a lot of people would make fun of for not being very good.
yap god growing and growing, keep up the grind bro
5:01 Fred Durst is from Limp Bizkit I believe
Song is still fire
Love your enthusiasm bro!!!
Carson Daly was the host of trl on mtv back in the day. Fred durst was was the lead dude in limp bizcit. You gotta understand the era where this eminem stuff came from

That was hilarious, thank you. Your reaction 😂. Hugfrom a 53yo in Sweden.
You gotta listen to his new stuff soon, besides houdini. Death of slim shady mainly but godzilla and kamikaze and venom, etc like they're amazing. Can't wait for you to just listen to his entire discography eventually
I love Venom, the chorus itself is so fun to listen to😊
Been a minute since I seen you and your still a vibe keep it up yo
the albums that came out after Marshall Mathers LP are "the Eminem Show", "Encore", and "Curtain Call" after you listen to the LP, listen to the songs from those albums. they are just as great.
In his Rock and Roll HOF speech Eminem actually shouts out Will on his list of inspirations, referring to him as "The Fresh Prince"
“I hope so”????😂😂😂😂
Next til i colapse🎉
Legit the best reactor. Love your channel man.
thank you bro
Bro your editing is getting so much better!
He was feeling so hard he missed the chubby girl eating the onion ring with Marshall Matters special sauce 🤣😂😂
“You can’t do that but He just does bro!” Literally the definition of Slim Shady 😂
Songs like this, are just normal to me, so seeing you hyping up, is so special 🔥🔥
3:27 bloodhound gang - the bad touch reference
He still is the shit. Never stopped bringing it.
The real slim shady was the first rap song I ever heard on the radio as a kid, and I remember bopping along to it not understanding most of what he said and watching a group of adults look uncomfortable lol
youre the best when it comes to eminem reactions
EM hardest verse is in Best friend
Good energy from this dude
Carson Dailey was a VJ on MTV and Fred Durst is the lead vocals of Limp Bizkit.
You need to listen to "soldier" and " go to sleep" both will have you have hype asf
Carson Daly was a VJ on MTV who hosted TRL, which is total request live what is one of the most popular afternoon music shows on MTV at the time everybody who is anybody was on TRL
The first song I listened from Em. Obviously I was hooked from the start.
It's hilarious that Kathy Griffin is the nurse in the psychiatric ward. I never noticed when I was younger.
Your reactions are great. They been covered a lot already but love to see what you think of Pete & Bas.
Carson Daly was a host on MTV and Fred Durst is the lead singer of Limp Bizkit.
I lived through Em in real time. It's been a fuck of a ride!!!!!
Love the recorder at the end. Always makes me wonder if Haley got in on this.
YESSSSIRRRR IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
The best part is that Fred actually was in this music video (the guy seating next to sex doll)
This came out when i was in the 5th grade and we all knew every word to this song.
VERTII
YEASH!! ITS HERE
My GOAT IS BACKK (I'm broke and I can't keep subbing to the patreon I'm sorry)
He wasnt talking about Slim, theres a double and Marshal had been warning us of Sean Coombes from all the way back then.. "No wait, youre kidding. He didnt just say what i think he did, did he (Diddy?) 😂
Love your enthusiasm! But I feel old thinking back to how I was 16 when this first came out! Hehe 😂
The Will Smith Line will always go hard
You should really react to the ending rap battle scene from 8 Mile, and then react to "Lose Yourself" which he won an Oscar for. He didn't attend the 2003 Oscars, even though he was nominated for best original song because he didn't think he had a chance of winning. He didn't even know he'd won till the next day because he didn't stay up to watch the awards either, since he had to get Hailie up for school the next day. His appearance at the 2020 Oscars to perform the song is one of the best kept secrets of live performances at the awards show's history.
Ironically he won a Grammy for this song
I’m glad you’re still going down this path! I saw you react to Without Me a couple months ago. Obviously you see why GenX will always defend Eminem and why he’ll always be relevant. Like others said the live MTV version is epic. Looks like I’ll have to sit down with your reactions today 😊
Not him calling me old by not knowing Carson Daily 😅😅 I had to get home from school to see him at 4 every day.
I love the fact he's NOT wearing skinny jean's.
A good song from Eminem in 2002 a lot of people probably don't know about is "HellBound". It's a co-lab with J-Black & Masta Ace, produced by DJ Rob. Check it out sometime!
Em’s Cyphers are Legendary
