That's exactly what I thought.
Ditko said he intended Goblin to be Norman Osborn in 2009:
"I knew from Day One, from the first GG story, who the GG would be. I absolutely knew because I planted him in J. Jonah Jameson’s businessman's club, it was where JJJ and the GG could be seen together. I planted them together in other stories where the GG would not appear in costume, action. I planted the GG’s son (same distinctive hair style) in the college issues for more dramatic involvement and storyline consequences."
The businessman in JJJ's club who has the same distinctive hairstyle as his son in college is Norman. In the second to last Ditko issue, Stromm is killed by a sniper out of a high story window. Spidey looks out the window and sees no ledge or anything for stories down. The next panel shows Osborn changing his clothes and then hiding the sniper rifle. He was in Goblin gear and used the glider to kill him. Romita has said he thought it was obvious Osborn was Goblin from the Ditko issues and was surprised when Stan told him otherwise.
Stan, whose memory was never very good, is probably getting Goblin mixed up with Electro and the Crime Master, both of who get "Wow, it's someone I have never met before, real life sure is different from the movies" revelations in the actual comics. Ditko has always been adamant he planned on "the businessman with the distinctive hair" to be the Green Goblin.

I personally like Rami’s version of Norman’s death it had that moment when Norman reveals his identity to distract Peter before sending his glider in. It worked very will. Very brutal.

Green Goblin in Spiderman no way home was just amazing he was so evil and ruthless. It was amazing because all of the other villains just didn’t give you that feeling in the movie.

Because Defoe is THAT guy, Molina just wanted the cheque, Sandman didn't make much sense and Electro was never written really well.
@@Pacbandit13 doc ock was actually pretty good but sand man and electro were really lacking character. They made a mistake by making the movie 2 hours instead of push it to 3 hours plus. To many villains for a 2 hour movies.
@@josea.martinez2234 Goblin fight was good the others lacked creativity or real stakes. Molina was just meh in comparison to his his SM2 performance. Defoe actually performed better, should of had Garfield and Defoe go at eachother more, they stole the movie.

WIllem Dafoe was literally the best choice for this villain he's presence and he's menacing looks i will always love the mask he wore in the first Spiderman movie but I wish that would of broke halfway through it so we get see dafoes expressions

When the Green Goblin came out in the Spiderman(2002) movie I was amazed by the insane visuals and by William Defoes performance it was amazing. To this date is still one of my favorite villain performances along with Joker from TDK of course.

Heath Ledger was actually on the list to play the green goblin, as well as Nicholas Cage, I assume they turned them down after William Dafoe's script reading in a hotel room in Spain. According to Karl Smallwood they saw a clip of him reading a couple scenes and instantly revoked their reluctance to cast him for the role.
I want him as the final boss in Spider-Man 2 PS4.

I was watching Fact Fiend about William Dafoe playing this role in the spiderman movie, couldnt for the life of me remember what caused him to flip his lid.

Honestly Spidey has a lot of villains, but I feel Norman is definitely his arch Nemesis. He has managed to personally hurt Peter, has a personal connection to him, and matches his abilities.

Here after nwh where Goblin is literally the best villain of movie and possibly the best he's ever been since 2002. Man, he may be even the best live action villain we had of spiderman, at least in the homecoming trilogy

8:59 I remember reading that part when Spider-Man kicked Green Goblin's shit in, and even though it didn't show any blood, it still felt intense because I had never seen Spider-Man do this type of thing in all of the issues I had read thus far.
The ASM 39-40 and SSM 2 story arch was next level for it's time, and still holds up very well today. A must read.

All the power trips and evil plans over the decades, and not many villains mastered the supervillain monologue like Norman, on a smaller scale I also enjoyed the Thunderbolts and his power struggles with The Hood

As much as I love the Joker, Green Goblin was always way more interesting to me. Funny right? Joker is a lot more mysterious, but there’s something about the Goblin that has always kept me so intrigued. Maybe it’s the schemes he’s played on the old Webb and and other villains or his design or the personal connection he has with Parker I don’t know, all I know is that the Joker is an unpredictable, psychotic, anarchist. But Norman is a complete sick bastard who takes the time and effort to just make Peters life a living hell.
Note that I also know that joker attacks Batman personally but I just love Green Goblin a lot more😁

Every hero always has the greatest archenemy. The dark and mysterious Batman has the colorful and insane Joker.
Spider-man is everything the nerdy Peter Parker wanted to be, cool and confident, but he has the Green Goblin. Norman Osborne's alter ego who is the Mr. Hyde to his Dr. Jekyll. Norman Osborne is a flawed scientist while the Green Goblin brings out the worst in him. Unlike the other villains who treat Spiderman like a pest in their way of riches and domination, the Green Goblin's main goals are to create chaos and hurt Spider-man, physically and mentally.
I didn't even realize you one of these on Green Goblin! You'd think you already done one of these on him as he such an iconic character but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy it!

Nice to see that how the Green Goblin discovers Spider-Man's identity was adapted into Spider-Man: the Animated Series. Double G had a great Arc in that series, even after he was flung out.

Just saw the Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer, now I'm here.
Fact check: Ditko left after issue 38 not issue 31. Also, Ditko didnt want GG to be a new character but a stranger to Spiderman. Lee thought it should be someone Spiderman knew. Ditko planned to use a earlier character associated with JJ Jameson and reveal this character as the GG.

@VC. FYI. Steve Ditko left the Spider-man Comic in Issue # 39. Also, I heard the real reason why Ditko left the Spider-man Comic wasn't over the fact that The Green Goblin's identity turned out to be someone Spider-man knew, but because Ditko didn't like the fact he only got credited as an artist on the Spider-man Comi, but rarely as a co-plotter.

Steve Ditko didn’t have a problem with Norman being the Green Goblin. He even stated he put him in various scenes in issues as a nudge in 2009. The reality of the situation was Stan and Steve had a falling out. Likely just due to the whole artist/writer dynamic of Spider-Man or clashing personalities/goals. It’s unfortunate but more likely.
I just finished reading "Revenge of the Green Goblin" last night & my god that was probably the best Spider-man comic I have read in a while
The one from 1998 or whatever? Solid story, better than anything else they did with the resurrected-Norman until Dark Reign, and absolutely pivotal for his relationship with Parker, which a lot of people think started in the 2002 film.
"You, the son without a father. Me, the father without a son. Join me. Be a man. Be an Osborn." (or that was pretty close at least)

I was introduced to Green Goblin in the old Spiderman Cartoons from the 80s. He was the only one I remembered. Plus, his face on that Semi truck.
