Edit: I forgot to mention in my comment that I meant if she wants to be remembered (for a long time) she's gonna have to put out music with substance thats unique to her and timeless, because trends are gonna die out and no one's gonna remember how she did that talking style of singing on 7 rings when it no longer becomes a trend. Of course its important to come out with trendy music if she wants to be successful, but I've seen alot of her fans claim she's the next mariah... I've watched her covers and I know what she's capable of vocally, and can understand why someone might think she is. But for people who arent sitting on youtube and watching her older covers/lives and just listen to the her songs on the radio, they would think shes far from being there. If she really wants to be "the next mariah" she's gonna have to make music that also appeals to everyone, not just 12 year olds who wear cat ears.

@@brookesimpson1180 True but she has a great voice and i feel like the rapping (which sounded more like talking) in 7 rings isn't all that great. It's important to switch it up but sometimes it seems like she only makes music just for charts and numbers.
I feel like she should come out with at least one album (or even just a few songs on an album) that showcase her vocals while being "trendy" so it does well (since thats the most important thing for artists).
It mainly disappoints me because she has such a beautiful, powerful voice but in her songs she goes for a more breathy voice (which has become her signature style but if she's rapping im sure she can try switching it up).
And i agree Imagine is great song. It's sad it didnt do as well as tun or 7rings. It's probably because people nowadays don't appreciate talent, and just like trendy music. I do feel like she would be remembered more if she puts out meaningful, songs while actually singing (rather than rapping), because trends will die out, but talent doesn't.

Likely the case with her (as it is with most artists) is she'll be the 'in' person for a while longer & be putting out hit after hit that people will go crazy over. A period of time will pass and people will eventually move on, but I could completely be wrong. She may have some longevity, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I don’t dislike Ariana and I think she has a very good voice. However, her more toxic fans have spoiled things for me. Just because you love an artist doesn’t mean you have to worship their worst song (I’m looking at you, 7 Rings), cyberbully her ex or attack anyone who doesn’t like her songs.
For example, I am a big P!ATD fan but I have no problem admitting the recent album wasn’t the best, and I would never bully someone who I think wronged him.
Every fan base has its bad parts (trust me, I know) but Ariana’s is just notoriously toxic. Sorry for the rant.

However, the vast majority of her songs are not like that; they’re meaningless and/or about sex. She's the most hard working girl I've ever seen and she's constantly growing. Unfortunately this huge rise in fame comes with alot of hate and negativity. Maybe it’s the old soul in me but her music over the years has been somewhat of a disappointment IMO. Every release seems rushed with sub par lyrics and generic production value.

I was terribly disappointed and dissatisfied about both. I thought they were bad, and as you mentioned, childish lyrics. She has an awesome voice but she needs to expand that with her music. I think Ari is very underestimated. Yeah, she's so freaking succesful but people really think she's just a cute pop girl when she's way more than just a pretty face. Her vocal ability is sickening and it's probably one of the most talented vocalists of the 2010s, alongside Gaga and Demi. She really is very versatile when it comes to genres: She's given us pop, jazz, R&B, soul, disco, and now she's trying with more hip hop/rap/trap sounds and has proven her voice fits pretty well for all genres, even musicals. She's also a public personality who has made a signature and is so good with fans and everyone out there, pretty much almost everyone in hollywood loves her. And that's something most artists couldn't do. And her label is also very smart, cause she really has some songs that are brilliant and perfectly written but would probably no have commercial success, so they choose her most commercial songs as singles so they can sell more. Which is okay, cause that's what singles are for. Sell. I don't think she's a legend or is going to be the next Mariah cause she alone has created her own name, and with only a 5 year career. I'm expecting in her new album more r&b and jazz sounds cause I love those kind of somgs from her and of course, I wanna hear more of her vocal ability. Great video💕

Honestly, I still hold the opinion that her older stuff is more better. Whenever I hear her older songs, I actually feel excited inside and in like “Damn, this is a summer anthem!” But with her newer stuff, I’m not so much feeling that. 2015 was the final year when I genuinely enjoyed her songs. “thank u, next” was alright but I still didn’t feel it. I also don’t like how shes going more trap-style just to fit in or “keep up” with the current music. Not strictly speaking, but isn’t being different and outside of the crowd a good thing sometimes?

i actually really enjoyed imagine and 7 rings. i know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it sounded really good. the lyrics weren’t that great though, but nonetheless i liked it.
i’m really excited for tun and i’m glad we don’t have to wait a long time for it. some people say she’s moving on too fast but i’d rather have her release an album a few months after her previous album than wait a few years.

Well I cannot stand Sweetener except the singles (excluding The Light is Coming) and Goodnight and Go. Not all the songs are terrible, but aside from the singles they are okay at best and whack at worst (the Pharrell ones). Even though I really want Ari to go back to DW days, I guess I can get into TUN.
I personally didn’t like Sweetner as a whole album. To me a lot of the songs were better as stand alone songs by theirselves. I love how Sweetner was basically a planned out album and it was an alright album. And This next album is was made spontaneously and it’s honestly got some of her best song la to date on it (the songs we’ve heard so far). I honestly wish nothing but the best for Ariana right now. Cause I know these last couple of years for her her have been pretty tough for her.

I think Ariana has an amazing talent with singing and acting, proven by her success previously. However, I am just sad that this the level of being a "main pop girl" is nowadays. They have amazing voices and catchy songs but on stage, they have no energy or presence. No big production numbers, no theatrics, unlike the 1990s-mid 2000s. Of course, music changes and so do trends etc but it's just my personal opinion. I guess we all enjoy different things from performers which is why we have so many different types. But the main ones who are so mainstream now just lack energy and stage presence. :/

recently, she's even been accused of stealing 3 rappers' songs in 7 rings. especially with pretty boy swag, the similarity is obvious., yet her fans act like they don't sound the same at all. again, i've seen this on videos actually discussing this topic. she's not acknowledging soulja boy's accusations on theft nor on 2 chainz' fans accusing her of stealing, instead of talking about one of the rappers. and the media simply took that as an apology to all three.
one thing to make clear; her entire fanbase is not at fault for the hate spread to pete, nor to the hate spread to kris wu. but they have been called this because of many of them act in such a manner. and ariana knows of this, she is often on twitter, talking to fans. there is no way she could do all that without seeing the hate being spread in her defence form her fans.

I agree that her fans were too cruel to Pete. But honestly, when it comes to the Pete and Ariana situation I'm not irritated at Ari. She shouldn't have gotten engaged to him three months after her breaking up from a two year relationship. Mac Miller's mental state wasn't even healthy enough for her to get into a relationship immediately after (and I would argue Ari's wasn't either.) She was cruel, insensitive, and probably cheated on the guy. We already know the severity of Pete's mental and emotional health so I don't think we need to get into that. But don't forget that Ari has PTSD from Manchester and her poor decision making and trainwreck of a year (for her personal life not professional) is a result of her not fully taking care of herself.
That being said, I'm glad she's made the decision to be single and focus on herself.

Because it wasn't. Ariana has a great voice, and appeals to a lot of people (cute and appears geniune), but at the end of the day she's just a manufactored pop star. She easily got into the industry after her role on Victorious and has been releasing music since. She has very little actual talent as she can't write or produce. She's got a good voice and is an ok performer but she isn't Beyonce good. Lady Gaga can produce and write. Taylor writes the vast majority of her lyrics. Rihanna is the only other artist comparable but i'd say she has a better voice with more interesting music even if she doesn't write/produce.
TLDR: Ariana's music seems like it wasn't produced with a true message because it isn't; she's a manufactored pop star who was picked because she is cute and has a good voice.

I love Ariana, but being a main pop girl isn't that impressive when there is ZERO actual competition. The days of Rihanna, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Bey, Katy Perry, T Swizzle and the like was really the pinnacle of pop music. After that pop pretty much became watered down Techno/house music that had unremarkable "pop singers" mixed in. So basically a techno remix of a pop song nobody liked in the first place.
I believe this happened due to the success of previous MEGA stars doing collabs with techno/house producers like Calvin Harris and David Guetta, which were very successful, and prompted more mega stars to also have more techno vibe beats. Due to that success, the labels and everyone involved in producing the music created a formula of sorts to make the most catchy song they could. now all pop music sounds like the rejects from american idol made a song with david guetta. Especially since none of the actual pop queens of old do music anymore. Plus, it makes them more than enough money off 12 year old children who think it sounds new and exciting because they haven't been listening to the same TECHNO REMIX of a boring pop song for 8 years straight.
The sad fact of getting old in a corporatized world is that stuff stops being made FOR YOU, because they are trying to snag the next generation, rather than keep you involved ...because soon those children will be your children and its YOUR money still being spent. So if they can just rehash the same old shit to hook the next kid, and still make you pay for it without spending effort and resource to come up with anything NEW, they will.
Plus she does not take music serious, has lazy lyrics, and is not even a pop singer or pop representative.

Then once she got to the level - she did more rnb sounding music and hardly any collabs. Where i really respect Taylor Swift for example as a pop girl because she literally was a country girl. and the moved into a whole other genre because she was always loved by the mainstream even while country - she was a pop hybrid and learned to play guitar and write and make melodies and tell producers what music she wanted. her image. she was always herself. To me, Taylor is the main female in the industry that is the biggest. she had screaming fans with posters and all since 2008. And 11 years later still. That is something. But right now and lately , especially surrounding her personal life with manchester and mac, and broken engagment, its Ariana. For a channel titled honest there was very little of an opinion given, which seems to be the case with most of your videos recently. Youre basically just narrating her career without giving us much insight as to whether you feel she deserves to be where she is, and why you say that. You mentioned that she's rising while other stars are absent but don't exactly let us know whether you think this is the only reason for her rise or whether you think it would have happened regardless. I'm by no means trying to be negative here, I do like listening to you when you give your opinion on these subjects whether I agree with them or not, just pointing out that there's a drought regarding your personal insight, and that's the only reason I subscribed in the first place.

Her music is sick and I won’t deny her talent, but I think she’s been able to be on top this past year because so many main pop singers were on hiatus in 2018 (Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc.). While I do think Ariana is talented and will have staying power for the next couple years, I don’t think she would’ve dominated as much as she has the past few months if the typical main pop singers were releasing stuff too

It’s not hard to break those records when other strong pop music wasn’t released in 2018. Also realize she broke records held by Drake, a rapper. 2018 was a big rap year, but not a big pop year. Many big pop artists were on hiatus and Ariana wasn’t, therefore she was able to seemingly dominate pop music because no other big pop names were releasing pop music. Trust me, I don’t deny her talent and I love her music. But we also gotta be realistic and realize much of her success this past year was because 2018 was just an okay year of pop music and with no competition, she was able to break those records.
