People are really out here saying "Ariana's really showing off her sexy side" like Dangerous Woman didn't happen years ago lmao. Did y'all even LISTEN to 'Everyday'?
Right?! It’s clear that ppl have started to love Ari after Sweetner/TYN.
Girl for real. Also I love Everyday!
Honey she been nasty since my everything
Ikr everyday was legit people making out in the most random of places
Before it was standard pop sexual implications. Now she is literally describing 69-ing and aside from 3 songs maybe, dedicating an album to it hahaha so def a little different
pov is so beautiful, it’s like the second half of ghostin.
It's my favorite off whole album :,D
for sure
fr it’s ghostins counterpart
YES😭🥺
in my opinion i think it really is
Just like in her “Shut up” song.
“I like my shit”
Ariana makes music SHE likes. She doesn’t make music to rival other women in the industry or to prove her talent.
EXACTLY! people need to "Shut up"
IKR!
YES shes only proven herself shes just having fun now and we should support that! we dont want her to burn out :/
she doesn’t care about charts, numbers etc she literally just likes to sing and make music she’d still do it without the fame
It’s kinda of the flip side of the DW song “I Don’t Care” where she is obviously upset ab people telling her what to do, and how numb she is to it. “shut up” is her taking back her power and i love it
"just like magic" is actually about being in an enlightened state and manifesting, not about bragging
Yass! And also not ab Mac! People really try to tie that trauma to any and everything she writes but its ab giving gratitude to God/The Universe for her blessings.
Ikr
Point blank periodt
Exactly, it’s like a positive affirmations song, I love it
also "six thirty" as a song has nothing to do with a sex experience, she said she chose "six thirty" bc thats when the arms of the clock point down
I’ve never been a fan of her music, but the fact that she’s putting out at least very solid records in short amounts of time is pretty amazing.
Same, I'm not a fan of her music but I respect her grind

Stop saying “Ariana is showing her sexy side” like bruh there was everyday and dangerous woman...😐
She's showing off her loving side
Heck the song sweetener was dirty in its own way too.
He said like never before, in a way that's more widespread across the tracks and varied than in just dangerous woman
@Dani Fara She’s still worth hundreds of millions more than you, so you shouldn’t really be talking while you sit at home behind your screen and do nothing with your life but hate 🤷🏽♀️
Does side to side not exist anymore cuz chile-
I think she’s reached a point where she just puts out what she likes and wants and whether we love it or not she likes it and it’s part of her story. She’s really made it tbh. That being said I’m not a big fan of the album but for sure gonna give it a few more listens to see which songs grow on me, but if not she’s still an artist living her best and I’m gonna listen to whatever she gives me anyways 🤷🏻♀️😩
None of the songs stuck with me,they usually do.But maybe i do need to listen again.
@@M4angie yeah same. after a few listens i only like positions, shut up, 34+35 and just like magic but not as much as i loved the thank u, next songs. lmk if you liked any! 😊
@@FuddiDuddiS okok i just gave it another listen and so far i liked: Just like Magic,Positions, and 34+35
I would like to say respectfully that Ariana has not reached the level where she can really do whatever she wants. On a personal level, yes because she can do as she pleases as a human being and her fan base will always make her songs chart high. But as an artist, she hasn’t reached that peak. That’s more of people like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, etc. She’s been around for just 7 years.
@@melliexcx yeah I can see your argument. I’m just saying that to her now I don’t think she cares as much if she charts or if she wins a Grammy (we know the tea on THAT already) she’s just gonna put out stuff regardless. I’m sure she thinks about what her fans will want and like but it’s not as big of a deal now as it might have been say Sweetener era. She just puts out what she likes first. TU, N was too much of a cultural reset to ever forget about her imo. it’s like Taylor’s 1989 album.
the album is chill, smooth, and a straight vibe.

Ariana been talking about sex 😂. Everyday, side to side, dangerous woman, god is a woman, make up, and bloodline are the songs off the top of my head
Exactly. Don’t know why people are acting like it was something novice. Side To Side, literally her MOST POPULAR song, was all about soreness after sex.
Exactly also you forgot Hands on me that the song that started it all.
Sweetener (the title track) 😆 Don't forget that song too

Y’all need to actually listen to the interview where she talks about the album, it made me like the album even more. Also, Ariana says she makes music for her and she has fun with it and doesn’t care where it lands on the charts. I feel like there’s lots of rules to putting out albums that hurts many artists.
EXACTLY
exactly! learn what the songs are about from the artist instead of calling your conspiracies facts.
!!! :)
!!!!!
I don’t know why but in the bottom of my heart I have the slight feeling that even if Ariana doesn’t care too much about the charts and streams her team definitely does . I feel like she personally isn’t much about the charts and she just wants to make music for her fans or anyone who is willing to listen but I feel like her team wants otherwise . I feel like they want another My everything ( hits like problem , break free , one last time , and love me harder ) era or another Thank you next ( Hits like Thank you next , 7 rings , and Break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored ) . They promote her constantly and I feel like someone from her team leaked the names of the track list before Ariana could just to bring more attention to the album . At the end of the day it is difficult to say that an artist doesn’t care about charts and streams . Im sure that Ariana doesn’t care too much about it but it seems like a lot of people believed this album was a “ miss “ she never publicly said anything about that topic or how she felt about people thinking that this album was a “ miss “ but it must hurt because it’s something she worked hard on and they had limited recourses because she was in the middle of the pandemic and most work was done in her home . Too most people and the statistics it seems like this album under performed than most of her albums . It sold 174,000 album equivalent units ( it had much more demands for streaming platforms around 173.54 million stream) and 42,000 album sales in a week which to be honest people were making it out to be worse than it actual was a lot of people can’t even sale more than 1,000 - 2,500 albums in a week . But than again compared to thank you next that sold 360,000 equivalent units . Sweetner had 231,000 equivalent units , Dangerous woman had 175,000 equivalent units , This may come as a surprise but I believe my everything tops everything at 759,000 copies , and yours truly at 138,000 in its first week and as of 2019 Yours truly has sold 615,000 copies . So as you can see this album didn’t do as good as the others but I’m sure Ariana didn’t care too much but just as any other person I have a slight feeling she kinda hoped it would do better maybe not as good as my everything or thank you next but some what better but this is a still a good album I just feel like it wansnt promoted as much by Ariana more by her team. Plus today a lot of people are streaming instead of buying albums so I’m sure this album would’ve sold more if streaming wasn’t so popular.

I FEEL LIKE THIS ALBUM IS FOR ARIANATORS AND FOR RNB ARI
It's not even a full rnb
IMO this is pop record flavored with trap, RnB, and a bit of classical strings. I called it string because it contains of strings instruments in classical, not fully classical. Positions (the album) is a POP Record. And some of the songs sounds like TUN leftovers.
@Wackaz - Arthur Wacker yes but it was a nice transition to show some of her rnb side. since it was pop rnb.
@Wackaz - Arthur Wacker it’s jisoo from blackpink :)
plus i mean- he's her boyfriend lol. if she was being *obsessive* and saying she can't live without him then i could understand why it might be unnerving, but she's not doing that. she's allowed to show her love and appreciation for her lover, and we should respect what she chooses to show through her music.

I feel like this new album is not for locals. This album sounds a lot like the old ones, and i think that's beautiful. People want her to just do up beat songs like 7 rings, but no, that's not the point; Ariana has always been saying that she doesn't like to stay in only one sound or genre, she likes to experiment with sounds and with her voice. Honestly, Positions is prob one of her best albums along w/ Dangerous Woman.

@@danamaybee i find a lot of sounds similar to any of her first three albums. For example, in "Motive" the bass pattern sound a lot like "Knew Better part ll" from DW. So yeah

She is pulling a rihanna in the early 2010. Releasing album after album. Loud, R rated, talk that talk, and unapologetic.
No the difference is all those albums had more than one hit. Timeless songs! each album feels like a different era even though they where released so close together. Even Rihanna’s looks for each album where completely different
Rihanna's releases on albums every year were different, from sounds to content to her looks to embrace the era. She is probably the most versatile popstar ever. She has done every genre and made it her own and lots of her songs have lasted and stood the hands of time, Ariana hasn't had that yet. I like Sweetener and TUN more than this album. This album was like the Charlie's Angel's soundtrack, feeding into what was recently the most successful sound and not really venturing out. Sweetener needed to happen so TUN could happen, but then other than Rain on Me with Gaga, everything is pop trap with hints of R&B, no real artistic growth. I'm happy she is living her best life and realising music she likes, but if your an artist and just releasing the same sounds, what really are you doing? She's already made plenty songs that sound like this album. It was disappointing., but kudos to her for being consistent.
LOUD is my favourite album, the pictures were so pretty
@@simply7teen_495 I'm glad I'm the only one who looked at it like that. Rihanna and Ariana are on 2 different levels when it comes to music and longevity and impact. I do like them both, but RIhanna is a great example of a versatile artist and engineering the music industry in the way she has, she doesn't stick to one sound, all of her albums sound different with the exception of the first 2 because they were more Caribbean pop/r&b, but she has progressed and influenced music dramatically like so many before her, but she always grows with her music and never tries to go on what was successful before, she takes risks, I don't think Ariana has really taken a risk sonically because all of her music has been pop/r&b, pop/trap, pop/edm and pop/jazz. Sweetener is probably Ariana's only album that tried to do something progressive sonically and while I like Sweetener I can see why some fans didn't, but that was probably her most versatile sounding album, everything else even the Charlies angles soundtrack was like her old music. I think Ariana is returning to form and just using what is popular today, she has never really set any trends, she follows them and does them her way and kudos to her for being very good at it.
:) !!!
I don’t understand why everyones mad with this album, Ariana was never one to try to make “deep” songs, music is like a diary to her so she writes and sings about whats happening in her life at that point in time. Shes in a point of life wheres shes happy and feels like shes finally met the one, idc how “bad” or “lacking” the music is as long as she enjoyed it and felt it was good enough to share with us. I personally loved Positions, its honestly no different from Yours Truly and shes been talking abt sex in her music for awhile now. Either people are just now starting to listen to her side tracks, or they’re mad becuz its Ari.

Ariana has been saying she wanted to release albums as though they were diary entries. That she wants to look back at these projects and be like, wow, I was really in love at that point or wow, this really hurt me back then.
for me, receiving so much in so little time does get overbearing and I do want time to miss her, but I love that she wants to be this personal or feel this liberated with us.
the album sucks... she has amazing vocal talent. She needs to take a break and construct an amazing body of work, positions is a decline from tun and sweetener.
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l your opinion. I find the album to be quite enjoyable and definitely shows new direction for her. I adore sweetener and thank u, next. But the last thing I would want is a carbon copy of either. she's evolving and playing with new sounds, which makes this even better. they're all good albums in my opinion.
@@nunyuh7102 it sounded like TUN rejects, I think that Ariana fans would love anything she releases but some people need to have a more objective perspective. Super bland album, just like the album cover.
Jonathan no one is gonna fight you for your opinion, but for the most part you’re wrong. she doesn’t need to take a break to offer a constructive body of work, bc time within itself wont bring her good music- it’s all abt artist inspiration and production and ariana has a lot of artist inspiration. she takes works up her songs through personal experiences and her own feelings. if you didn’t like the album just say that and move on.
@@elasticdancer in her case time will bring good music. Quality art takes time, and this album feels extremely rushed, like she is trying to use the momentum she has. This album felt extremely uninspired, at least to me. Especially after the masterpiece that was TUN.

FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT ALSO OFFT THE TABLE DESERVES THE PRAISE TOO
I mean she literally said it herself. How come every time she puts out an album, she has to have this HUGE era out of it? Like we can't she just put out music just to put out music? Male rappers and underground artists do it all the time, so I don't understand why it's different for a mainstream pop artist. But that's besides the point. I believe Ariana right now, is in her folklore phase where she is making music for her fans, specifically her R&B fans because I believe those fans are the most hardcore and dedicated in her fanbase. The album is REALLY good but it's not my favorite from her. Is it her BEST work to date? Debatable. Oh, and these are my favs off the album: POV, motive, shut up (THAT SONG IS SO FUNNY 🤣), off the table, my hair, and love language 💕
I had to scroll way to far for something like that. Like, just let her do her music and stuff. If you don't like it that's on you. I don't see you putting out 3 albums back to back? People say "Oh she will never top Sweetener or Thank you, next", bruh, she doesn't have to. Like you said, everyone expects this huge era and milestone with EVERY album she puts out. Maybe she just wanted to do a more chill album or whatever and that's totally fine. But oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I do understand what u mean, she doesn't have to do eras if she doesn't want to. However, one of the most exciting things about pop music is watching the artist do eras (i.e. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna). Its just a part of the experience; that's what's missing in the music of today.
@@0104brit Yeah I totally get you there. Music in general just isn't what it used to be. I mean, the girls are still having era's and pop culture moments, and Ariana herself has had a few herself but I feel like the difference between now and then is that we probably won't remember these era's in the next 10 years like we have Christina, Britney, Madonna, and Gaga.
@@drakehollie414 100% couldn’t agree more. so many of todays artists and their work will not be remembered the way that we remember legends from the 70s, 80s, 90s today etc. there was so much more energy and pride in music before. @*eugh* stop hating on ari bro
I have to agree 100%
34+35 is my least favourite from the album and idk why everyone loves it 😂my first listen it didn’t hit me with like just like magic or pov haha
i LOVE this album! I feel like it’s more mature and a new sound that sounds so good with her voice and she served with her vocals. it might not be as “energetic” or “pop” as her other albums but it’s such a vibe:)
It's basic pop like ALL her music
She is really a humble women especially being that successful. Always kind and genuine. She never takes anything for granted, like she was made for it all.
This is why she special to us all.
Ariana's Positions issa grower.
the more I listen to it, the good songs become less good and the bad songs become worse. The opposite of a grower for me, mainly due to the boring production. How do you go from TUN to this.
yeah def
I hope so. I've only heard them all once now, (besides Positions), and I was kinda bored for my first listen.
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l I completely disagree but
@@jamie.lynn004 same, maybe we just had high expectations
The album is a grower for me. I had a hard time liking TUN but positions exudes a different aura. It feels more laid back yet sexy. Every track in the album sounds cohesive and not hard to listen to. I love the lyricism it has considering I like explicit innuendos in my songs. Although I do believe that positions is not a title track worthy when obvious, 34+35, nasty, and pov exists. She still slayed though.
Fave tracks:
1. Six thirty
2. nasty
3. obvious
4. pov
“pov” is beautiful and dreamy. It truly reminded me of “get well soon”.
I loved it, I’m surprised people don’t like it since this was the sound they wanted from her
E X A C T L Y
Even though the album is very sexual it still feels very personal and emotional. You can really feel it in her singing and some of the great lyrics.
@*eugh* excuse me but just because she wrote about love/s-x doesn't mean that she doesn't pour her heart and soul into it. coming from a music producer, i could tell she really put her emotion in this album. if she didn't, the album wouldn't have been good.
*eugh* you're embarrassing you fish user

@*eugh* dude you’re making it hard for me to like bts and ariana grande rn. I love them both, but you’re doing too much
this album was perfect in my eyes. the quality of production is out of this world. it’s such a sexual album but it’s also so sensual and emotional. everything was very the same but yet so different. i could talk about it for hours but, this is now my 2nd favorite album by her.
Yesss🤍✨🥺
A sexual album? Lol u obvi havent heard the masterpiece that erotica is
Nah the lyrics ain’t it and in almost every sentence the word shit has found its way. The songs all sound the same except for some like POV but all in all I think the album was pretty underwhelming which makes me sad since I was looking forward for pretty cool rnb tracks.
Finally someone who lovess it
it's not a bad album, but the production sounds basic ngl. it felt rushed and just sounds way too similar to tun and sweetener imo. the lyrics are... we are going to pretend, we didn't hear that🙂
I have a feeling ppl are actually just lying about how sexual this album is. Most of the songs aren't even sexual. Six thirty is a metaphor . She is asking the guy if he is down for a relationship. Just bcz the lyrics could have a sexual meaning doesn't mean it does. Only actual sex song was 34+35 . Others are mostly about love, relationship and being together .
And nasty
Exactly.
exactly like the most sexual songs on their is mainly nasty and 34+35 meanwhile dangerous woman had so many more sexual songs. but why should it even matter its her music and shes an adult she should be able to sing about whatever she wants
Well 34+35 is a metaphor for a $ex position. If you don’t get it that’s what the song positions is about switching $ex positions for this person ( I’m guessing it dalton ) Nasty also presented this topic very explicitly. Now can I say not every song is about sexual moments. POV is about her loving herself like her lover loves her . Safety net is about falling in love and being scared. Off the table is about feeling love again but not being sure because you have been through so much it’s like love is off the table . I’m going to have to disagree with honest on this one Just like magic is about fame and Fortune. I like to think of it as a life philosophy we’re if you let life do it’s thing everything will come back together slowly just like magic. Motive is seeing what is your lovers interest in you . I would say this is not her most explicit album. I mean songs like everyday , make up , side to side , and bloodline represent that this clearly isn’t the first time she has said and talked about very sexual topics in her songs . But I do think that she tried to cover it up more in those songs compared to 34+35 The lyrics “ Can you stay up all night F**k me till the day light 34 + 35 “ Makes it very easy to tell what the meaning of the song is. But song like side to side might not be as explicitly explained as 34+35. If you watch the music video for side to side I think you can get the message. But just listening to the audio might make it more difficult. Somebody once asked on Twitter what the song side to side meant. Another person responded that it meant you were sore from $ex and Ariana liked the post . My point is this is not her most sexual album as she has mentioned these things in the past but , some songs in this album are more explicitly explained and worded than other songs she’s made in the past. Which is were people are getting the idea that this is her more Sexual album.
thank u.
For them people saying that it was lyrically weak, have you checked the lyrics of POV, Safety Net, Off The Table.
And Honest, i wouldnt expect this from you, you did just like magic so dirty..
just like magic has such creative lyrics...

- also wanted to say that she doesn’t make music anymore just to get on the charts and stuff. she does it because she likes it, and she is putting out music when she wants and how she wants... i feel like the album is free for anyone to ‘determine’ what it’s about, but not in a literal sense... just interpret it as you will, but also understand that ari is in a period where she feels comfortable doing what she wants, when she wants it. it especially rubs me the wrong way when people are giving her criticism about a sex themed album. she is an adult... yes, I understand kids listen to her. but she shouldn’t have to tiptoe around everyone’s standards.

besides the leaks it’s really sad that people hated on this album before it was even released? saying it was gonna flop.. and people were claiming to have listened to the whole thing less than an hour after it dropped and were already bandwagoning saying it was “generic pop....” that’s the one thing this album is not.
the album is not good. unlike sweetener, where it was creatively bad (some of it). positions is bland and no, it is not "quality rnb" it is bland trap beats with repetitive rnb hooks. The lyrics are also terrible on some songs. such a fucking let down
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l nope. this album is gorgeous and some of the best production and instrumentals to date. her most cohesive album by far. it was smooth, chill, and sultry. ppl say they want her to switch it up but every time she does it’s nothing but complaints. it’s not meant to be some full on catchy pop rnb album? and trap beats are not even prominent on this album? it’s mostly a blend of plucky strings, musical theater type instrumentals, & jazzy harmonies with some classic rnb influence. the lyrics were beautiful and romantic. the themes were still very personal despite not being as “dark” as her last album. and those harmonies were absolutely angelic. it’s different from a anything she’s done and exceed expectations. anyways!
@@lamb9770 lyrics are trash in some songs imo. The strings often make it sound like Wii music. But again, this is my opinion. This era feels extremely lackluster, she should have taken a longer break imo.
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l huh? did you even listen lmao? wii music? the strings were mostly heavenly violins that sounded like they were from a disney princess movie and the more plucky strings are reminiscent of the 50s/60s sound from yours truly. don’t see why taking a longer break would matter when she has been working on this album for a while and it’s exactly the type of music she’s been wanting to make. there’s clearly a lot of passion behind this project.

As a long time Ariana fan this album just felt good after Thank U, Next & Sweetener. On both of those albums it was obvious she was hurting and going through a difficult time (especially TUN, but Sweetener als has its moments). However, on this album you can really tell she's happy again and just overall in a good place, while still showing that the events she sung about on her previous two album still affect her. She deserves to be happy and in love the way she is now after the past couple of years she had and overall I just really enjoyed this album. Yes, it isn't her best but you can tell she put her all in those songs. Most just won't recognize it because for an artist to put themselves in a song nowadays it means the song has to be heartbreaking and about trauma. I loved the fact that happiness was just the overall theme of this album.
I wasn’t expecting this kind of sound from Ariana but I actually really enjoyed the album. She definitely showed a lot of growth with the album and I thought it was fun how she went a slightly less pop route. The argument "give your fans time to miss you" honestly ain't it for me. Artists should do whatever they want. If she wants to release 3 albums a year she should. If she wants to release 1 album every 10 years then that's fine too. There's no "right way" of becoming an artist.
exactly
@The Marvelets Elitestan the thing is that these people are legend-level artists. Nobody in her label is pressuring Rihanna or Adele to release music, they are living their best life doing whatever tf they wanna do. Same. Some songs were just there and didn't do anything for me. I feel like she needs 2-3 years break or the general public will get bored.
i agree... i don’t want her to feel pressured to release constantly cus some fans can’t wait for her comeback but she’s put out so much already i wish she would rest for a little and make a big comeback (sorry if that’s confusing and yes i know ariana likes making music constantly it’s just my opinion :))

Not Ariana insinuating that rappers can just release music without promotion and make hits and she can’t, as if her army of fans won’t buy whatever she puts out. It has taken a very long time for rap artists to find their way into the mainstream and even to this day, many are not considered pop artists - just “urban.”
Yea I don’t understand her explanation. Even rappers take their time creating their albums, ie Kendrick Lamar who’s one of the best musician of this generation. i get what people mean when they say that the songs on positions “sounds the same” but i like the fact that the album is super cohesive, it makes it more personal in my opinion. there’s a lot of albums where songs are just thrown on there randomly and feel out of place- there’s not a single song like that on this album, it’s like a story. i think she mastered this with sweetener and tun as well. plus, ariana stans have been waiting so long for a more r&b sound from her, and this didn’t disappoint. it’s different than her past albums but still has that “ariana brand” to it. i think ariana has grown so much as a person/artist and she shows that with each new album- i think people need to realize that (and move on from her past generic pop sound) in order to fully appreciate positions
Yeah… and if she had released an album “where songs are just thrown on there randomly” you would have said something like “I like the versatility of this album and how every song surprises you because it’s not predictable at all, there’s a lot of albums where songs sound kind of the same and they end up being boring and monotonous” 🙃
