Close it to cars!
You have two options, either close the road to private vehicles and make it PUBLIC TRANSIT ONLY PLAZA or CAP THE TUNNEL and move to buses to get over the hill, adding tens of minutes to everyone's commute. You can't have both ways and complain about nothing being done when the city is offering a solution. It may not be the best solution but its more than the community is coming up with. If they don't like it, then I say lets just cut the public transit services in that area. People can transfer to buses to get to Stonestown, UCSF and CCSF since the rail will end at Forest Hill Station. Next they'll complain about the elevators there taking too long. STOP COMPLAINING OVER SOLUTIONS.
What an elitist attitude. Sorry but communities get a say in what happens to their own community. These people aren't subjects to the Lords of the SFMTA.
SFMTA are the experts and it is time to close West Portal to all cars before it's too late!
Fire Tumlin and all of SFMTA on their war on cars. Everywhere I’m going in SF his crazy war on cars are making SF worse. Just a few weeks ago SFMTA limited vehicles to one lane on San Jose Ave and mandatory left turns on the left lane for now reason. As a Bay Area native and someone who knows this intersection very well, I’m on the side of the people and businesses who reside at and near that intersection. Despite it sometimes being busy, there have been ZERO issues with that intersection. The accident that killed that family as mentioned wasn’t even at that intersection so WTF??!!!! This is SFMTA and London Breed trying to score political points, and it’s turning into the Valencia center bike lane fiasco all over again, only this time it’s happening in a more wealthy neighborhood and these people aren’t taking crap from SFMTA.
Nimbyism and conflict on any change like this is the reason why we have a housing crises.
Make West Portal Free of Cars, and allow the unhoused to benefit from the New Open Spaces, this will bring greater diversity and opportunities to the Area.
The family would've been safe if the L train had been up and running. Why does it take forever for SFMTA to do a simple job of work?

Sad.
SFMTA took couple years on the L line. Need to recall all those people in SFMTA
Supposed be completed years ago.. but they keep saying its on time
Recall? The board of directors are appointed by the mayor...
tumlin of sfmta should be fired. hes pushing his no cars activism. the incident happened because of the lady that was driving, not traffic conditions. the news should be reporting on her and what really happened.
what did happen
If u close to all cars, then create parking lot nearby. Businesses won't survive otherwise.
Why people think car is the only issue?
because of 3,000 lb vehicle just rammed into a whole family
Bus and bike can cause accidents too. Should we just walk?
@@rainbow1021 a bus and bike didn't do this
