As a Californian I'd say the decline into a cesspool of Oakland and other cities along with increasing state level quality-of life declines, is not by accident. Years if not decades of legislative foolishness in cities and the state capital have resulted in basically more uncivilized behavior, which is increasingly tolerated by the judicial system, and by the people themselves as they just become accustomed and accepting as they adapt to more and more lawless and/or trashy behavior by the people around them.

Scott Weiner SF proposed a new “…progressive…” law which makes it much harder for Police to arrest on suspicion of prostitution, wearing skimpy dresses in public. Estimated prostitution jumped 50% as 1/1/23 when the new restrictions went into effect.
Because there are no laws against wearing bikinis and what is and isn`t "indecent" is relative to perspective. I personally don`t see anything "indecent" about nudity because it`s natural and I also don`t think you, society or government have the right to stop prostitutes from making money. If ya don`t live in Oakland, don`t preach and mind your business. If ya do live in Oakland, then don`t look if ya are that uptight or just move somewhere else where there are a lot fellow moralists like maybe Utah 👉👉

I remembering driving by with my kids in the car and they asked me why there are half naked females on the street. In that moment I was so ashamed of not having the ability to move out of Oakland and providing a better environment for my kids.

Some of these workers are being held against their own will and civil rights.
We can start to address the victims and help them get support. They developed trauma from this and most of all disease’s of all kind from sex with random people with infectious illnesses.

Other idea is to create a red zone like Amsterdam has. For drugs and addicts should be a zone too so families can raise their kids in peace.

Regulate and tax the brothels. Force the girls to get tested regularly, register and only operate from sanctioned brothels. Use the taxes to fund an enforcement and rehab task force for both the sex addicts and girls who are addicted to drugs. It’s the oldest profession yet nothing is being done to bring it out of the shadows and eliminate the negative side effects.
They can’t even deal with the homeless situation. What makes you think they’ll do anything about the prostitution?

My point being - we all gotta work to survive, especially with this current high cost of living…which explains why these sex workers gotta expand their normal business hours to daytime nowadays. On the other hand, it’s also the city of Oakland, so there shouldn’t be surprises there. But, at least they’re getting up every day trying to make a living for themselves, eh? Now, if we really want to voice out our concerns about safety in our neighborhoods and in our community, go speak up about the homeless and drug use epidemic in California that we all see in our streets everyday, and start there. A problem that’s overcrowding our local emergency hospitals for mostly BS medical visits, depleting millions of dollars of public funds and resources with no actual path for full recovery in sight that WE employed tax payers pay for.

Committed to solutions? Oakland needs to decriminalize the trade, regulate and tax it. That will take the pimps out of the equation.
