- New Mexico police bodycam video of cops arresting a teenage cheerleader for allegedly murdering her newborn baby was released. In the video, Alexee Trevizo appears calm as she packs a small bag of personal items before being taken from her home. Cops say the 19-year-old cheerleader left her baby boy in the trash in a hospital bathroom. Trevizo has pleaded not guilty and says she had no idea she was pregnant and went to the emergency room for back pain.
Not knowing you're pregnant is one thing, but discarding a newborn baby in the trash is 100% intentional.

I think because she is of age (18+) she should face consequences for her actions. But due to the immature age (-25) there should be some extent of grace extended. That’s how I’ve always looked at it. I know the law doesn’t tho. What do you think would be a fair punishment for this situation?
Not playing the devil’s advocate, but addressing how Alexee’s mother contributed to this. She probably treated her daughter as a “kidult” even once she became an adult. These individuals mature at a much slower rate and believe their consequences will be lenient because they’ve been told they’re “still kids”. I had parents like that and learned the hard way when I got arrested at 18.
Hate to tell you this but 19 is still a teenager. Having a kid that young would still anger her parents. Plus, nobody is actually making excuses for her, they’re just pointing out the obvious, things that will probably be used as mitigating factors in the actual court case.
They all knew she was pregnant. Her classmates have already posted on TikTok that they knew, teachers knew, coaches, even her mother. Her mom being “distraught” and in disbelief is all an act.

In the HOSPITAL TRASH?! This is so disappointing. Even if she didn't want it, the baby could have been given to a family who does. It's genuinely horrific that her first solution, when surrounded by people who LITERALLY can help both her and the baby, she chooses this disgusting route. I get its hard, even for her mom, but her daughter deserves what she gets. She literally took quite literally an INNOCENT life.

I mean why would she cry about someone she didn't have an attachment to. For me it makes sense, it's not like they spent months creating that bond and expectation. It makes sense that in that moment, she's worried about her daughter.

What annoys me about the situation is that she had 9 months to plan something and the "best" she could come up with is killing the baby in a thrash bag?! As a future teacher next year if I had a girl in my class who looks pregnant I wouldn't say a word. Why? Not really, sounds like a case of postpartum psychosis to me. It could also be a number of other medical conditions. She could not even be aware that she murdered a newborn infant. This is especially more common to happen in cases where the mother is oblivious to her pregnancy. This has legal recognition in many countries, but not that is not the case in countries where the average people's knowledge of pastpartum complications is outright backwards like in the united states.

I work in diagnostic imaging for over 10 years. I have had 5+ situations where the patient were between 7-9 months pregnant and they had no idea. Back pain, bloating, and lower abdominal pain. Most of these patients were average size. Regardless of not knowing, leaving that baby in the garbage to die is inexcusable.

I know plenty of girls with irregular periods, that just get skipped for months on end. It could be due to many things like poor nutrition or overexerting your body like through exercise.

@@Jasm275 Abnormal menstruations. Some people have periods once every 2-3 month or none at all. I remember at least 1 situation where the patient above had minor bleeding every 1-2 months. The obvious reason is poor education. I want to say at least half of my encounters did not speak English.

In addition to the arrest video, I’ve seen the footage of the police questioning the hospital staff and the mom & boyfriend while they were still at the hospital. There is no innocence and neither mom nor daughter cares about that baby that passed. That mama’s focus is on keeping her daughter out of jail and moving on with their lives. It’s sick really.
Don’t believe everything you watch. The mother will always protect her child no matter what they did usually. She had to have some inkling she was pregnant. The mother could have acted surprised so she doesn’t commit perjury on the stand. The prosecution is going to call everyone to the stand. They have to start practicing the cross examination by the prosecution. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already been discussed before she got arrested.

Several people have already come forward that they knew this girl was pregnant, and now you're going to tell me she didn't know this? If a belly can already be seen so from the outside, it seems very, very unlikely to me that she hadn't even "seen" this herself.

Aparently the hospital did a pregnancy test and they confirmed she was pregnant but that information was delayed around 45 minutes, so the hospital didn't inform her quickly enough, it was in that time frame where she gave birth.
So yeah defense could make a sob story about how the hospital failed to protect a confused teenager and how that lead her to make a irrationial decision.
The jury decision must be unanimous so the defense just need to convice a single jury to win or at least lower the charges.

If my mom knew when I was only a couple months pregnant then her mom definitely knew her daughter was nearly full term.
I was 18 when I was pregnant with our first daughter. My husband (bf at the time) and I still lived with my parents and I was terrified to tell them, my mom especially. The test was positive at 3 weeks and I kept it from my mom until I was almost 16 weeks. I knew I should tell her soon since I was starting to show and when I did she said she already knew! She said she knew months ago but was waiting for me to be ready to tell her. How she knew? 1) She noticed feminine products not being used, 2) She remembered the one time I got sick after eating dinner, and 3) She could see the changes in my face. She also knew I was pregnant with my second daughter before I did. Moms always know so I don't buy that the mom and the daughter didn't know. And the fact that the mom is questioning why her daughter is being arrested is mind blowing to me.
