    Is it possible to connect a mini console like the NES Classic or the Sega Gennesis Mini?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  7 месяцев назад

      You may want to check with Vilros on that. I wound up giving this machine away and that wasn't one of the things I tested. I'm thinking it might work but it's not something I personally tested.

    While I agree with some of the commenters that $300 feels a bit spendy, it certainly looks like a solid piece of equipment and unless one has the tools/materials/skills to build a bartop from scratch I think this is a great way to go. I've looked at Pimaroni's PiCade, which is comparably priced, but one has to assemble that (though it does come with more buttons.) I like that the marquee can be changed out, too, though it'd be nice if the graphics on the cabinet itself could be easily changed (I suppose one could source a vinyl printer.)

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  2 года назад

      It is a very solid and well-built cabinet. I can't compare it to the PiCade as I've never used one but the differences appear to be significant in terms of build quality/materials.

      @@igorbogorad2687 Now that *is* interesting. 2 years later, I imagine it's due to the waning of Pi4 adopters over the newer Pi5. Thanks for the heads-up.

    I just got one of these, my only real gripes are the side stickers were starting to come off, right out of the package I had to push it back down and get bubbles out, and the screen has a low view angle. DO YOU KNOW WHAT SCREEN THEY USED.. it seems it is one of the many lcd panels you can get for cctv applications on Amazon and other, but they removed the branding.

    I apologize if this has been asked already, but does coinops work well for this?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don't know honestly. If you can locate a CoinOps build for the Pi4, it "should" work fine. However, I gave this machine away so I have no way of verifying that. You may want to ask Vilros, they may have a better answer for you.

    Hello. What do you think of putting a Pi 5 in one of these? Do you think it is worth it, or if would even work?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  12 дней назад +1

      Not sure on that one, first of all the power requirements are higher for the Pi5. A Pi4 would likely be ideal for this. The Pi5 could work, but may need a separate power supply to the Pi5.

    Would this work with a Steam Deck instead of a Raspberry Pi?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  8 месяцев назад

      It might, I don't have one here for testing so you may want to check with Vilros to be sure (I gave this one away). You'll likely need a dock for the Steam Deck with HDMI+USB and perhaps an adapter for the HDMI cable. Just a few things that come to mind from memory.

    I just got this from being the winner. Be careful. I unboxed it. And was running fine. Seemed to be really cool and figured my kids will love it when they get home from school. I set it up. Setup the wireless connection. It said a new update was available and D/l it. After it rebooted its bricked. No joystick or buttons. Cant do anything. No support contacts on the web page. Found a FB page. But nothing from that as of a couple hours ago. I assume the Pi would be reset. Anyone got a clue on how to do that. ?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  2 года назад +3

      Glad you received it ok, regarding Recalbox it's mentioned in the original review video how to fix the controllers: ruclips.net/video/fVnigtSNRT8/видео.html (also in the video description are the commands I used). If you don't want Recalbox installed, Batocera and RetroPie are also good options. I have guides for those here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rpi4gaming/#Official_RetroPie
      It's likely not bricked, the update probably overwrote the settings I had made for you in Recalbox. In that case, just re-running the commands mentioned above should fix it.

    Your pi 4 Needs cooling fan

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  2 года назад +3

      I tested without any heatsinks or fan to see if thermal throttling would occur, it surprisingly didn't. Even playing dreamcast and other GPU/CPU intensive emulators which were running for 6+ hours. Definitely needed for overlooking. However, still a good idea to use them, I agree with you. This machine will be given away to someone else, when it is, it will have a fan and heatsink installed. It just arrived today (all-in-one unit).

    Thanks for the video well done. As far as this arcade goes the price is way way to high. This is a $150 item imo.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Tom! I understand and agree it should be cheaper. But when I priced out the components (without any discount), there wasn't the massive difference I was expecting. I don't think I could build this same machine at the price they are asking without buying used components. I may follow-up with more details in the giveaway video.
