While the actual content is above average in terms of RUclips. Can we all appreciate the sounds and music of this video? Super funky beats, subtle background birds, transition sounds...just so we'll done
Honestly, outside of some weather sealing, this looks like it competes with the Leica 9mm but for a different photographer. Given the distortion with the Leica, the Meike is impressive for optical quality overall without needing the in-camera correction and whatnot. Manual, reasonably sized, and not breaking the bank but doesn't rely on image correction. That's a pretty good proposition for $400. Using both manual and autofocus lenses, I might lean toward the Leica for how I use something that wide angle, but absolutely love manual with my 25mm for that "nifty fifty" camera use and with a portrait lens for just nailing those real life style portraits. These are just my thoughts, but I can definitely see the use case and value, though tough competing with Laowa as well!
I think this lens is intended to be rehoused as a cine version that Meike will release shortly. For users who want cine lens, this might be best in class for its price. Pana 9mm is focus by wire which is not always ideal.
Nice clip as always Jimmy. Interesting lens but not for me. My Pana / Lumix 8-18mm f2.8 is more suitable as a hands on very versatile wide angle lens. When is the next London photo-walk 😊😊??? Currently trying to come to grips with Procapture and Procapture SH2 on my OM-1 😕😕Keep on posting. Peace.
Oh dear, another wide-angle lens. Aren't there already enough ultra wide-angle lenses for M43? Who needs so much choice? I'd rather have a 100mm 2.0 or so for sports photography....

The composition on that bridge photo at 3:27 is superb. I'm not talking about the lens, I'm talking about the photographer.

For me it's a no brainer at £261, which is the price I paid today direct from Meike global, (and free shipping, too)!

It reminds me to my vintage Canon FD L collection with that build and red ring. 😅. Thanks for the cool video!
I just wish we’d get lenses with auto focus and the manual focus ring that some of the Oly lenses have.
I appreciate so much that you are watching out for my wallet with videos of equipment that don't break the bank. All the best.
Compare it with the slr magic mft f. 4.0
The image you capture is all that matters.
Big is just big. . . . Shit can be big!
it's nearly Ziess , good for everyone.
Thanks for this review. I'll take the panasonic-leica 9mm lens now.
I have 7.5mm f2 Laowa... great lens, don't see why anybody buy this one... also 7.5 take filters better and smaller

Thanks for the review! Thoughts on how this Meike lens stacks up to the Laowa 6mm cine from a photographer’s perspective?
Thanks!
Would take the Loawa any time.. to use filter.
Flares are always good for my video work. Worst case, I have a matte box for my video rig
I do too, but want to highlight it as there are many who don't like flares at all.
I think I'd rather go for the Leica 9mm f1.7 for the extra £50. Has autofocus.
You really need autofocus for an 8 mm lens?
Panasonic lens is the way to go.
Yes but for 100€ more I can buy Pana-Leica one, that is af, lighter, smaller and has more aperture.
hmm, this or the Laowa 6mm T2.1
Jimmy, does the 9mm f/1.7 Pana Leica work with Starry AF?
it does. almost all wide lenses do.

Just stick the Olympus TCON17 on the 75mm f1.8 and that can be your 127.5mm F1.8
@@VietAnhNguyen-jp1tg It is not made for this purpose.
16 mm is great for real estate.
