When I start my server it says "Availability: LAN only" as the status but Port forwarding is active and the Firewall doesn't block it either. But the server isn´t showing up with my public ip. Please help! I am looking for an answer for 5h straight and couldn´t find anything
@@M0H4_ nope, if you have DS-Light it's impossible to host a server, you can do it with some services but they all cost money, so it's easier to just buy a server

@@M0H4_ If you have DS-Light your router doesn't have it's own external ipv4 Adress, but you get one from your provider, and the port forward only forwards the port from your router and not from the "bigger router" from your provider (your pc->your rooter->provider router). hope that helps
Hey Ive set everything up as you said, Ive port forvarder both 7777 and 27015, everything is up and running and I can join the server via my Local ip. But for whatever reason, my friends cant join me. The server doesn't show up in the steam server list nor ark. The ip shows up but it just says "not responding" Ive tried everything, please help.
Hey, idk if you got it working or not but sometimes the port isn't actually forwarded or may be in stealth mode so go to a port checker website or application and check the port. Also make sure they are using your ip not the public ip lile you would use.
I recently changed modems and my server availability shows as: LAN only. I changed the IP address in ASM but that didn't do the trick. I'm unsure if it is a port forward issue, or how to get my server to show up in the server lists again. Do I need to redo port forwarding? I've spend years playing on my private server and would hate to lose everything. Do you have a discord?

how come I can only run five servers? When I don anything over query port 27020 doesn't work, I don't understand the public IP? If I switch my ip, then I have to switch all others or I can't access them. I want to run pretty much every official map and some of the non story maps like fjordor and valguero and Rag, etc. is there some other query ports I need to be using my chance? I have all the maps set up and they work fine through the default query and server ports but cant run two maps under the same ports. i'm getting unable to query server info invite over and over, i did everything u said in the video, put the correctly ip in steam servers (it shows as working) but when i tried to connect throught steam i get the query invite server. And if i try to enter throught ark open host, nothing shows to me in favorites session.

You have to make a cluster and then have two servers running at the same time so you can switch maps by using the obelisks to teleport. I dont have any videos on clusters, but I know theres many you can watch for ARK server manager.
Hey boss, I got ark server manager yesterday and set it up, for some reason I can see the server but when I try to give my friends the public IP to join with the port it says the server isn't responding. I've port forwarded before and I got both 7777 and 27015 both port forwarded for both TCP and UDP on my IPV4 and I can't figure out for the life of me what I've done wrong. I do get the awaiting for publication message and I've done the firewall inbound rules, even turned it completely off and nothing. We're all on steam and have been playing non-dedicated sessions (not fun at times lol) any tips or pointers?
If you can see the server locally the only logical answer is that something is wrong on the port forwarding. Make sure that the external and internal porta are both same on each entry. Also triple check that your IPv4 is the correct address that you are port forwarding too. Also, do you have a static public IP or does it change?

Can I use server admin logs to go back to a previous Server use? Following your videos, I successfully created a server on my new computer and had it running for a week. Today, I decided to change a harvest value; made the change; clicked on stop server; and immediately hit restart computer. I stupidly did not wait until the server had shut down. Once the server restarted my friend and I could see it in Steam, and start to connect. We would both see that data was being downloaded in that bottom left corner of the screen, but it was shorter in time than normal before it went back to the server screen as usual, but eventually timed out every time despite numerous shutdowns and restarts. One thing that I discovered is that today, the saved server admin log file decreased from 1900kb to 900kb. This makes me think that I somehow lost some data. So, can I use a recorded server log in ASM to go back to a previous shutdown?
Hey man, I've watched all of your video's, triple checked the Port Forwarding, Server still doesn't show up in unofficial for any of our friends, they add the public IP to favourites, but nothing shows up in the Ark Client. Firewalls Disabled as well. Any pointers? I followed this tutorial to the letter.

Jacob, For some reason I have my cluster up and I have some users that can connect just fine and then other users (example my best friend who lives right down the road) they connect for 30 seconds and they cant do anything but run around.. cant pickup anything or mount dinos... its weird cause some days he has been able to connect and then other days he cant. Do you have any idea what could be causing these issues?
Hmm, I have never heard of that happening to anyone I have played with, do you have any mods that aren't loading for him? That's the only thing I can think of. I'll look around to see If I can find a solution.
@@jacobkeil I found out the solution... It's a Nat looping issue with my network hardware... To all others who have this issue... If you use spectrum equipment this will happen to you. Also I have a modem/router 2 in 1 device... Make sure you have two separate devices one modem and one router (if you even need a modem). Spectrum will deny any issues with their equipment but rest assured... They equipment sucks

Followed every step to the letter but I am getting ASM cannot find RunServer.cmd. I have this installed in a folder separate from the game, followed every step as I said, everything else has gone to plan until I click start. Then this crap pops up. hey, I'm having trouble increasing the wild dino levels. Can this be done inside ASM and if so, where? I've tried editing my game.ini settings but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for the video!
Yeah it can. Its towards the top of the rules section and there's a checkbox to enable difficulty override. You can change the max dino level with the slider. Also if you want dinos to spawn at that level next time you start the server you'll need to look up how to destroy all wild dinos so that the old level dinos are not there and the new level dinos can spawn. Hope that helps!
thanks for the tutorial. been like 3 years since i set up a server. tho i wonder, i use VPN pretty much all day now. that would mess with my public IP, so do friends need to keep joining with a new IP?
A VPN should change what IP you use to do anything on the internet, but it shouldn't matter because it doesn't change your public IP. So anyone with your actual public IP should be able to connect.
On the ark server manager, it says "Availability: Waiting for publication." I can join with no problems but my friends can't. I used all the correct ports as well. Do you know how to fix this?
My server always says "Waiting for Publication" and I'm not sure. It could be how you port forwarded the ports. Also did you give your friends your public IP or did you give them your local IP?
Is there a discord for help with this :) ? - Is your home IP vulnerable when hosting? - What internet speed do you need for a 9map cluster. - How does this work if you want to host all 9 maps from one PC? It'd need dif IP's wouldn't it? I want to host sooooo bad, I'm sick of paying so much to host-providers :(
5 months late sadly, but I can answer some of this - Your home IP is vulnerable since they are connecting to your router IP. - I'm not quite sure how fast of internet you'd need. I'd say you'd need pretty fast wifi if you plan on running all 9 on 1 router. - You can host as many as you possibly can on one by just changing ports per server. I.E: Server 1 port is 9999 but Server 2 port is 7777, it will bog your machine down though.
There should be 2 entries , one for 7777 and one for 27015. It could be called in and out or internal and external. You would put one port for both on one entry and make another entry for the other port.

I have a video on enabling crossplay for consoles. You can try this but I don't own any consoles so I wouldn't know if it works. The video has quite a few likes so I assume it works for most.
Hey great video! Wondering if you could help with an issue I have run into, I have set up my server triple checked all the port forwarding, and everything. My friends can see and join my server with no issues but when I try to connect using my IPv4 it loads for a little bit then says "Invalid Authentication Token". Been looking all over and can't seem to find a fix, I have set my server up on steam using the exact method you show in this video, any help would be great!
Are you typing just your IP address like this with no other numbers: 192.168.1.20 . Also make sure this ip matches your local ip address adapter in the application. If you still can't figure it out I can help on discord if you want!
@@jacobkeil I fiddled with a bunch of settings and tried out a bunch of different IPs even tried using a loopback address all to no avail. But for some reason when I went back to just using my local address it started working out of nowhere. I can connect now with no issues, thank you for all the help!

I have one more question, do my friends have to open steam and type in my public IP to join the server if they have the epic client? or can they just join through the game? Also, do they also need to have a forward port?

Yeah, the startup can range from like 45 seconds to some ridiculous times. I'm not sure if this actually helps but when I start up the server I touch nothing else and keep that window in focus and it usually gets there pretty quick.
@@headgeek735 Actually I forgot one thing that may help, under the administration tab there is a checkbox towards the bottom called cache. This will store data for a faster startup.
Hello there. Funny enough, i've been through your previous videos earlier today to try to solve an issue. Tryin' to setup a dedicated server (another computer outside of my gaming PC, on my local network) with some friends since 2 days and running in a loop with an issue with Primal Fear. Primal Fear is too big for steamcmd.exe to download it properly in one go. Without any mods, the server is visible and accessible by everyone in our group. But if i try to put Primal Fear (by copy/pasta the mod from my Steam Client) into ASM > the server get invisible for us in Ark. That is "normal", because if the server is not playable, Ark hides them by default instead of showing them with any "not compatible" information. But if we use Steam "favorite" window (with IP yadayada), we can try to login, resulting in an error message : Mode version mismatch yadayada. I suppose it's an issue with steamcmd or ASM who doesn't get the signature/validation of the version, even if the version is the right version, but i totally don't know how to force the update of the version on ASM in order to solve this issue. (yes, i've tried the Mod IDs magnificient glass/validation thing ^^).
I just made a new server and it seems to work fine for me. The mod download took like 5 - 6 minutes and after installing the actual server I started it up and the server is visible and all of the mod engrams are loaded and it says primal fear is loaded when you press escape in the menu below. Have you tried updating the server to the latest version? if not maybe try that.
It was on the lastest version yep. I'm actually reinstalling ASM (and everything else) after having clearing everything (at least i hope) on another SSD to try to get a clean install. We'll see. I suspect a corrupted file somewhere who was not updated properly.
Great video! Worked like a charm and I am now trying to setup the crossplay. I have a question I can not seem to find the answer to anywhere though. In the Ark server manager admin tab, there is a box to "Enable Crossplay". Do I need to tick that box, use server arguments or use both? Any help would be apreciated

Hi man, i did everything that was on the vid but my friends still cant see the server, Considering that if I add the server in steam using my own IP, i can see and join the server just fine but through the public IP i cant. Considering that i can join the server just fine through my own IP, but cant see it if i use the public IP i think the part where im wrong is port forwarding. However my router seems different as there are alot of boxes in UI shown Do i just enter 7777/27015 on all the boxes? So each entry should have all ports the same number since we don't want every port from 7777-27015 open. So make two entries, one will have 7777-7777 for both external and internal and do the same for another entry for 27015. Let me know if still doesn't fix the problem. You shouldn't need to touch the firewall either these games automatically make rules for ports.
Hey man, awesome tutorial. My friends and I can finally play together without joining some wild server! I do have a question though; what's the best way to switch maps using this method? We want to move through the story Arks and upload our characters and dinos for progression.
The only way I can think of without losing your progress is to make a new instance of Ark Server Manager and host another server simultaneously on a cluster and then login to your old server upload your dinos and then log on to the new server and download them to the new server and after you have everything you can shut down the old server. There are many good videos on how to cluster and transfer on youtube. Hope this helps.

Make sure your password doesn't include any special characters since ark doesn't support it for some reason. Try just numbers and letters for the password
It dosnt work for me. When i try to save or install the server i get an error message. "Invalid URI: A Dos path must be rooted, for example, 'c:\'." Could you help me. What do i need to do .
At the top of ARK server manager there is a path that says "Installation Location" before it. What letter is at the beginning of the path? for example in the video my path starts with an "E". E:\ARK\Servers\Server14

These are normal when starting up the server, I get the same things as well. Something else may be the problem, like port forwarding the wrong ip address or ports.

We would both see that data was being downloaded in that bottom left corner of the screen, but it was shorter in time than normal before it went back to the server screen as usual, but eventually timed out every time despite numerous shutdowns and restarts. One thing that I discovered is that today, the saved server admin log file decreased from 1900kb to 900kb. This makes me think that I somehow lost some data. So, can I use a recorded server log in ASM to go back to a previous shutdown?
Hey man, I've watched all of your video's, triple checked the Port Forwarding, Server still doesn't show up in unofficial for any of our friends, they add the public IP to favourites, but nothing shows up in the Ark Client. Firewalls Disabled as well. Any pointers? I followed this tutorial to the letter.
Are your friends all using the steam version of Ark? If they are on Epic games follow this tutorial I have on enabling cross play on your server.

For some reason I have my cluster up and I have some users that can connect just fine and then other users (example my best friend who lives right down the road) they connect for 30 seconds and they cant do anything but run around.. cant pickup anything or mount dinos... its weird cause some days he has been able to connect and then other days he cant. Do you have any idea what could be causing these issues?
Hmm, I have never heard of that happening to anyone I have played with, do you have any mods that aren't loading for him? That's the only thing I can think of. I'll look around to see If I can find a solution.
@@jacobkeil I found out the solution... It's a Nat looping issue with my network hardware... To all others who have this issue... If you use spectrum equipment this will happen to you. Also I have a modem/router 2 in 1 device... Make sure you have two separate devices one modem and one router (if you even need a modem). Spectrum will deny any issues with their equipment but rest assured... They equipment sucks

Followed every step to the letter but I am getting ASM cannot find RunServer.cmd.
I have this installed in a folder separate from the game, followed every step as I said, everything else has gone to plan until I click start. Then this crap pops up. I deliberately only entered the Server name and standard Island map, and didn't bother changing any other settings or adding mods just to make sure I got a straight forward setup.

I have tried other steps both in and out of the folder in creating the batch file to launch the ShooterServer only to get a bizarre error - one that windows 10 cannot find the batch file that I am literally clicking on. I have also edited the file to include the full path to the ServerShooter.exe to no avail.
This is incredibly frustrating and I am at a loss, as I followed all instructions but am not able to get anywhere.

hey, I'm having trouble increasing the wild dino levels. Can this be done inside ASM and if so, where? I've tried editing my game.ini settings but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for the video!
Yeah it can. Its towards the top of the rules section and there's a checkbox to enable difficulty override. You can change the max dino level with the slider. Also if you want dinos to spawn at that level next time you start the server you'll need to look up how to destroy all wild dinos so that the old level dinos are not there and the new level dinos can spawn. thanks for the tutorial. been like 3 years since i set up a server. tho i wonder, i use VPN pretty much all day now. that would mess with my public IP, so do friends need to keep joining with a new IP?
A VPN should change what IP you use to do anything on the internet, but it shouldn't matter because it doesn't change your public IP. So anyone with your actual public IP should be able to connect.
what do i do for invalid authentication token?
On the ark server manager, it says "Availability: Waiting for publication." I can join with no problems but my friends can't. I used all the correct ports as well. Do you know how to fix this?
My server always says "Waiting for Publication" and I'm not sure. It could be how you port forwarded the ports. Also did you give your friends your public IP or did you give them your local IP?
@@jacobkeil I gave them my public IP from the server manager. I use AT&T so the port forwarding is kinda weird ill probably double check it again.
Yea some routers can't forward multiple protocols in one entry so it may take two or four entries to fully port forward.

5 months late sadly, but I can answer some of this
- Your home IP is vulnerable since they are connecting to your router IP.
- I'm not quite sure how fast of internet you'd need. I'd say you'd need pretty fast wifi if you plan on running all 9 on 1 router.
- You can host as many as you possibly can on one by just changing ports per server. I.E: Server 1 port is 9999 but Server 2 port is 7777, it will bog your machine down though.

There should be 2 entries , one for 7777 and one for 27015. It could be called in and out or internal and external. You would put one port for both on one entry and make another entry for the other port.

Hey great video! Wondering if you could help with an issue I have run into, I have set up my server triple checked all the port forwarding, and everything. My friends can see and join my server with no issues but when I try to connect using my IPv4 it loads for a little bit then says "Invalid Authentication Token". Been looking all over and can't seem to find a fix, I have set my server up on steam using the exact method you show in this video, any help would be great!
Are you hosting the server on the machine you're playing on?

Are you typing just your IP address like this with no other numbers: 192.168.1.20 . Also make sure this ip matches your local ip address adapter in the application. If you still can't figure it out I can help on discord if you want!
@@jacobkeil I fiddled with a bunch of settings and tried out a bunch of different IPs even tried using a loopback address all to no avail. But for some reason when I went back to just using my local address it started working out of nowhere. I can connect now with no issues, thank you for all the help!

Yeah, the startup can range from like 45 seconds to some ridiculous times. I'm not sure if this actually helps but when I start up the server I touch nothing else and keep that window in focus and it usually gets there pretty quick.

Funny enough, i've been through your previous videos earlier today to try to solve an issue.
Tryin' to setup a dedicated server (another computer outside of my gaming PC, on my local network) with some friends since 2 days and running in a loop with an issue with Primal Fear.
Primal Fear is too big for steamcmd.exe to download it properly in one go.
Without any mods, the server is visible and accessible by everyone in our group.
But if i try to put Primal Fear (by copy/pasta the mod from my Steam Client) into ASM > the server get invisible for us in Ark. That is "normal", because if the server is not playable, Ark hides them by default instead of showing them with any "not compatible" information.
But if we use Steam "favorite" window (with IP yadayada), we can try to login, resulting in an error message : Mode version mismatch yadayada.
I suppose it's an issue with steamcmd or ASM who doesn't get the signature/validation of the version, even if the version is the right version, but i totally don't know how to force the update of the version on ASM in order to solve this issue. (yes, i've tried the Mod IDs magnificient glass/validation thing ^^).
I just made a new server and it seems to work fine for me. The mod download took like 5 - 6 minutes and after installing the actual server I started it up and the server is visible and all of the mod engrams are loaded and it says primal fear is loaded when you press escape in the menu below. Have you tried updating the server to the latest version? if not maybe try that.
It was on the lastest version yep.
I'm actually reinstalling ASM (and everything else) after having clearing everything (at least i hope) on another SSD to try to get a clean install. We'll see.
I suspect a corrupted file somewhere who was not updated properly.
Great video! Worked like a charm and I am now trying to setup the crossplay. I have a question I can not seem to find the answer to anywhere though. In the Ark server manager admin tab, there is a box to "Enable Crossplay". Do I need to tick that box, use server arguments or use both? Any help would be apreciated

Hi man, i did everything that was on the vid but my friends still cant see the server, Considering that if I add the server in steam using my own IP, i can see and join the server just fine but through the public IP i cant. Considering that i can join the server just fine through my own IP, but cant see it if i use the public IP i think the part where im wrong is port forwarding. However my router seems different as there are alot of boxes in UI shown Do i just enter 7777/27015 on all the boxes?

So each entry should have all ports the same number since we don't want every port from 7777-27015 open. So make two entries, one will have 7777-7777 for both external and internal and do the same for another entry for 27015. Let me know if still doesn't fix the problem. You shouldn't need to touch the firewall either these games automatically make rules for ports.

Hey man, awesome tutorial. My friends and I can finally play together without joining some wild server! I do have a question though; what's the best way to switch maps using this method? We want to move through the story Arks and upload our characters and dinos for progression.
The only way I can think of without losing your progress is to make a new instance of Ark Server Manager and host another server simultaneously on a cluster and then login to your old server upload your dinos and then log on to the new server and download them to the new server and after you have everything you can shut down the old server. There are many good videos on how to cluster and transfer on youtube. Hope this helps.

Make sure your password doesn't include any special characters since ark doesn't support it for some reason. Try just numbers and letters for the password

At the top of ARK server manager there is a path that says "Installation Location" before it. What letter is at the beginning of the path? for example in the video my path starts with an "E".

Maybe try reinstalling ark server manager, the path looks a bit wrong on the wording. It might need a specific path name to work correctly.

These are normal when starting up the server, I get the same things as well. Something else may be the problem, like port forwarding the wrong ip address or ports.

Was there any updates to the server? maybe try validating the server install.
